Chapter Five
A Confused Flower“Honey!!” the older man said gleefully before taking the small jar in both hands, “how could you manage to get this but I couldn’t?” Jongdae asked Kyungsoo.
“I just happened to come across it.” Kyungsoo answered not revealing that Suho had given him the jar he had bought yesterday during Picnic Day. Kyungsoo recalled the incident from last night. “Ya know Jongdae, I’m sorry about what I did yesterday…I didn’t mean to.”
Jongdae popped the top off the honey jar and began to eat it with no manners whatsoever. Kyungsoo made a slight disgusted face as he waited for a response. Jongdae looked up toward his friend, “All is forgiven, Kyungsoo.” He said with a mouthful of honey, “I mean, you’re still an , but you bought me honey so I can’t really stay mad at you.” He teased.
Kyungsoo sighed with relief and chuckled. The flower shop still wasn’t open so he and Jongdae had plenty of time to chat.
“Plus," he swallowed the honey, "if I was really all that mad I wouldn’t have made my way over here.” Jongdae added.
“True,” Kyungsoo said tying his apron on, “so what’s with that wedding you were talking about?”
“Oh yea!” the older man’s eyes widened, “That’s why I’m here! Yixing totally canceled on me" he said pitifully, "and since you have no life and are free all the time you can totally pass as my date. You owe me anyway.”
Kyungsoo was a bit annoyed at the insult but he knew Jongdae was always joking. He really didn’t want to go to the wedding, however it would be unfair to Jongdae if he refused. Plus this wasn’t the first time Kyungsoo had to pose as Jongdae’s date for a big event.
“I’ll go suit shopping with you.” Jongdae smiled. Kim Jongdae was no stranger to the “shop-til-you-drop” motto.
“I have a suit.” Kyungsoo replied without much thought.
“If it doesn’t match mine you can’t wear it.” Jongdae haughtily said stuffing his face with more honey.
“Fine,” Kyungsoo gave in not wanting to get Jongdae started. “Which cousin is this wedding for again?”
“You’ve met her. She’s the one from the Philippines. She moved back here and is now marrying some guy with the same last name.” Jongdae shrugged.
Kyungsoo remembered her right away. He had vaguely met her at one of Jongdae’s birthday parties. She was much older than the both of them, but pretty nonetheless.
“Kyungsoo, I know I said I wasn’t mad anymore, but be honest with me." Jongdae said taking a more serious tone. "Who was that guy from yesterday?” Concern showed greatly on the older man's face.
Kyungsoo's stomach sank knowing this was bound to come up again. He didn’t want to lie to Jongdae anymore. However, he felt like what was going on with Suho should still remain secret. He knew Jongdae was just trying to be a good friend…but still.
“No one.” He said. "I was just trying to do some business for the shop." Kyungsoo smiled reassuringly.
Jongdae's face was indifferent. “If you say so.” He didn't question him further. The older man stepped away from the counter noticing it was almost opening time. “We’ll go shopping later. I’ll text you.”
Kyungsoo nodded in agreement. “Sure thing. Talk to you later.” And with that Kyungsoo flipped the CLOSED sign to OPEN and began another day at the flower shop.
