I can feel her breath
as she's sleeping next to me
Sharing pillows and cold feet
she can feel my heart
fell asleep to its beat
under blankets and warm sheets

We’ve been friends since like forever. Well, maybe for 8 years. That was how long we’ve known each other and that was how long I’ve loved her. and maybe for the rest of my life

I first met her when we were in high school. She was this quiet girl that everybody usually ignores except for me. I was popular because I was the school’s basketball team’s captain. Aside from being a jock I was also very friendly. I noticed that she had no friends so I came close to her.

“hi” I smiled at her once she lifted her head because I was blocking her sunlight

She looks at her back thinking that I was greeting someone else

“silly, I’m talking to you” I chuckled

“hi” she smiled back and put her book aside

“what are you doing under here?” I ask and look at her side. Hoping that she gets the idea that I want to sit next to her, she gets it and puts her things aside and motions me to sit

“reading and trying to get away from people” she says as I sit beside her

“I’m sorry” I say and try to get up

“no, it’s okay. Maybe it’s time I get some company” she smiles at me

“I’m Kevin.” I say and held out my hand for a handshake. She had the most beautiful name.

“that’s a pretty name” I say. She laughs. Her laugh was like a choir of angels singing. It was so beautiful

“what are you reading?” I say as I try to peek.

“oh, this? It’s ‘The Merchant of Venice by Shakespeare.’” She holds out the book

“yeah, I’ve heard of Shakespeare. I read ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ once”

And that was the start of a wonderful friendship.

We never became awkward with each other. We were comfortable in each other’s company. We even sometimes have sleepovers. We would sleep in each other’s arms. It was very comforting and relaxing. That was the time I realized I was falling for her.

There was this one time when she called me. She was crying. I immediately rushed to her house to comfort her

“hey, what’s wrong?” that was the first thing I said when I opened her door

“the boy I like rejected me” she says and runs into my arms

“you mean, Donghae? Wait here” I say and let go of her

“Kevin, don’t hurt him” she says and grabs my arm

“I’m going to give him a piece of my mind” I say

“Kevin, I need you here to comfort me” she then back hugs me

“Donghae, must be blind” I say and lead her to her bed and we lie there

“why?” she asks

“he didn’t see how beautiful you are inside and out” I say and hug her

“it’s his loss” I whisper to her ear

“thank you for making me feel better” she says and lays her head on my chest

“go to sleep” I whisper and caress her hair
