Mark could barely understand what the man said, but somehow got the message. His hair was that almost-black color, porcupined up. His uniform was unnatural. The blank faces staring back at him were unnatural. Everything was just so damn unnatural. Mark stated the words that were running through his head all morning. Just how many times had he recited those words? "Hello, my name is Mark Tuan. I hope we can get along." Laughter. One-sided laughter that came from all directions. His mom sent him to a foreign country out of nowhere just a week ago, did pronunciation really matter? How awful would their accent be if they ventured into English? Is this what life was gonna be like? He walked to an empty seat. The next boy came up. He had a grin plastered into his face. His next words brought a surge of uncontrollable laughter as well. But it wasn't the mocking kind of laughter, it was not the kind of laughter that sneered at differences, no. It was a laughter of welcoming. "I'm Jackson Wang, hope we can all be friends here.
