A week had passed, and, more or less, Mark had become a stalker. Not a hardcore stalker, but curiosity had certainly got the best of him. Every single day at lunch time, he snuck up to the rooftop and listened. He was never disappointed. And each day there was a new song. About flowers, about love, about stars, about clouds, there seemed to be a never-ending abundance of topics that her melodies spun themselves around. He had taken to observing her in class as well. She was always writing in her notebook, and it appeared as though she never paid attention. However, Jenni was at the top of the class. And how did he know this? Curiosity and free time.
It was a rainy Saturday, and Mark could be found lazing about, when he got the monthly call. The one thing that made life bearable, the monthly call. "Hey, sis. What's up?" "I'm getting straight A's. And I have a date tomorrow!" She went straight to the punch. Because they were only allowed fifteen minutes, she learned to say everything all at once. "Cassidy Tuan. You know that you are way too young to be dating, what are you, like three? Don't make me fly out there. " He he playfully responded. "You know I'm kidding. How could anyone possibly be better than my big brother. He's the best!" "Alright, what do you want me to mail you?" "If you could happen to get ahold of SHINee's album, you might be even better than the best!" They laughed. The conversation continued, consisting of small talk and "I miss you." And the fifteen minutes were burnt just like that, in the blink of an eye, the same as any other month. Like always, there it was stuck in his throat: homesickness. Cassidy, I hope you're growing up well. ***
