{Chapter One}
(Park Bom)
[10 years later]
“Yah, Park Bom! Are you listening to me?”
I rolled my eyes at the owner of the voice named Kwon Ji Yong.
“Yes, darling Ji Yong, I am listening to your senseless babbling on what should I do when I meet my father. So please keep your eyes on the road because I don’t want to die this soon.” I replied with sarcasm. This had earned a giggle from the girl beside me.
“Unnie,” she said while holding her laughter, “Ji Yong oppa means well. He just wants to make sure that the priority of this trip down to Victoria will go smoothly,” She reasoned.
“Of course I know that, Yeonie.” I smiled, playing with her black locks. Although Min Yeon was the youngest out of this , she’s the one that is the most matured, always mediating when Ji and I squabbled.
“Glad you know that, Bommie.” Ji Yong replied, sticking his tongue out at me.
Shooting him a look, I turned and faced the window with a smile on my face. I’m glad that these two came with me because I do not have the confidence to deal with the trip alone. It had been ten years since I left Victoria. As much as I missed this place during this period, I had never once given a thought about coming back, especially after that incident that tore my family apart.
However, now, for the sake of taking care of my less than healthy father, I had decided to come back to the place that I swore I would never come back.
I could feel my smile going wider as we got nearer to home. I have to admit, I missed this place badly. I missed the sun, the beach, the warmth, the hot dogs, the CORN! (My favourite, dipped in creamy, melted butter).
As Ji Yong pulled over at the drive way outside my old home, I took a deep breathe. Everything will be okay, I told myself. Opening the car door, I grazed at the old Victorian house, the place that holds my fond childhood memories.
“Unnie, are you okay?” Min Yeon asked, slipping her hand into mine and gave it a squeeze. I nodded and we made our way to the door.
“Appa,” I called out as we made our way into the house. I smiled at the sight of my father sleeping on his favourite arm chair with a book in his hands. “Appa,” I called out again, this time managing to wake him up.
He shot us a confused look before breaking into a smile. I smiled as he engulfed me into a tight hug.
“Eun ah, appa missed you so much! Where have you been?” He said.
I froze. I understand Eun was daddy’s favourite while I’m mum’s but the fact that my father actually mistook me as my dead twin sister stung badly. It seems as though he hoped that I was the one who died ten years ago.
“I’m Bommie, appa.” I whispered. I could feel him breaking the hug on cue.
“I am your daughter, appa. I’m Park Bom.” I said, looking in his eye, refusing to let my tears fall.
