『WHEN THE DARKNESS COMES』Amber looked down at the ancient scroll that she had carefully unrolled on the table. This was supposed to provide her with the answer that she seek, but there was no mentioned of the curse anywhere on the scroll. The scroll only contained the story of a star-crossed lover – a mortal man and a goddess who had fallen in love with him. Their story was tragic, but it had nothing to do with what she was seeking for. It had nothing to do with her.
Amber ran her hand through her hair out of frustration. She had looked at the scroll over and over again and found nothing – nothing that would help her with the curse. She felt the anger boil within. She found yet another dead end. There was no answer here.
All the frustration and anger had built up within her and she felt the fire within her erupt. She glanced down at the scroll once more before placing her hand on it. The scroll caught on fire immediately, but instead of burning hot red it burned a deep bright violet-blue. Startled, Amber took a step back. The scroll disintegrated, but the odd violet-blue fire still burned bright. It hoovered midair in front of Amber, spun around as if it was surveying its surroundings and without warning zoomed toward Amber.
Amber was too stunned to move and she watched as the orb of fire glided toward her and settled itself in the middle of her forehead. She felt the heat, but instead of pain it was a calming type of warmth. The warmth spread from her forehead all the way down to her toes. All the pent-up frustration and anger she had just felt was simply chased away by this warmth. Relaxed, Amber felt herself sagged to the floor.
Then the voice spoke to her. A voice that was so familiar to her. A female voice, but she couldn’t place where she heard the voice before.
Dear child, close your eye, trust me, let go and I will guide you to what you seek.
Her first instinct told her not to close her eyes, not to trust, but the calming warmth that had spread through her body made her let the guard down, let the distrust dissipate like snowflakes meeting hot air. Kneeling on the floor Amber closed her eyes, letting herself go completely. She felt her body heating up, felt like her power had consumed her and drawn her into its core – the epicentre – of her true power. She felt like she was goi
