"Yes. I started dating her in middle school. We dated for 7 years."

7 years is a long time. Heck, it's a third of my life.

No wonder he misses her.

When we were training and we had to sing ballads, I always knew he was thinking of her. His eyes would glaze over, his shoulders would droop, and life seemed to be out of him. His voice stayed sweet, but I know it wasn't him singing. It was the sound of his heart screaming out for its missing the piece, the sound of the deepest part in him aching for something it could not have.

I heard stories about her when I would find him sitting in a corner, pangs of homesickness reverbrating throughout his body. Even though he would tell others he was acting depressed because he missed his family, his parents, his brother and sister, I knew better.

Girls were pretty, funny, happy in his eyes. But they were never her.

People say celebrities have a hard time with their desire to find companionship while trying to avoid scandal and identification during dates.

He never had that problem. He struggled with his desire to see her, talk to her, maybe even just a facebook poke.

We always there for each other when we ended up in Korea. When I struggled with Korean, he would practice with me. When I felt homesick, he would speak to me in English and Mandarin, using the excuse that he needed to practice and it would be embarrassing if he forgot. When I was with him, I wasn't the foreigner, the girl with the tomboyish face, the girl whose uality seemed to be questionable. I was just Amber.

For once, I wanted him to think about love without thinking about her, even if it was for a split second.

I wanted him to be Henry, not the guy whose heart is tainted.

I would get him that way.

I would.
