I hate how you call me 'umma'.  I know you say it teasingly, and I know it's just a joke, but I hate them for putting the idea in your head.

I hate how everyone labels our relationship as a mother and son relationship.  I hate how you go along with it.

Every time you call me 'umma', my heart stings.  I feel for certain that you could never see us as any more than this, and that nickname only serves to remind me how painful reality is.  It hurts a lot.  It really does.

You can't even imagine it, can you?  You've never even considered it.

You could never understand how much your affectionate joking tears me apart.
