Live, Laugh... Love?

[PG-13]

(pt2)

~Laugh...~

Another two months passed by. Taeyeon and Tiffany’s relationship has changed from a nail artist and her client’s to that of a pair of very, very close friends.

Taeyeon felt like they were destined to meet and as if she’d somehow known Tiffany in a previous life or something of the like. And the more she knew about Tiffany, the more time they spent together, the more infatuated she’d grown with her.

Tonight was the second night she’d crash at her place, along with Hyoyeon, because they were both too drunk to get back home safely. But she couldn’t get a moment of sleep as she kept thinking of the girl sleeping so close to her in her bed while she slowly began to sober up a little. After about two hours of restless tossing and turning on the mattress laid out on the floor by Tiffany’s bed, she sat up, very frustrated and tired.

She didn’t know what to do with herself. She went to the toilet and looked for her bag, and more specifically, her phone everywhere but she couldn’t find it. So instead, she headed back to the room with Tiffany’s e-book reader in hand.

“What are you doing?” she heard Tiffany mumble. Her eyes were open in slits. She was gorgeous.

“Couldn’t sleep,” Taeyeon whispered. “And I can’t find my phone either. Thought I’d borrow this.”

“Come here,” Tiffany motioned for Taeyeon to get under the cover.

Taeyeon didn’t hesitate to take on the offer. She’s been thinking of doing this ever since she first slept there a few weeks ago.

She placed the pink device on the bedside table.

“Why can’t you sleep?” Tiffany covered them both up to the neck and closed her eyes. Their thighs were touching. The bed was small.

“My brain is too full of stuff.”

Tiffany let out a silent chuckle, eyes still closed. Taeyeon watched her unabashedly, admiring the beautiful smile and all the perfections and imperfections on Tiffany’s face that was so close to hers now. She had an urge to touch her face, to hold her close… ‘Tiffany probably wouldn’t protest, right?’

“Mold,” Tiffany breathed out after some silence.

Taeyeon grinned at her slow reaction. She was just about to reach up to Tiffany’s face when she felt the other take her hands. Her heart went wild.

Tiffany rubbed her thumb against Taeyeon’s fingernails. “I’ll redo them for you on Monday.”

“Monday I need to go get my papers, remember?”

“Mm… right,” Tiffany yawned.

“Oh, God, the stench… ”

Tiffany laughed and pinched Taeyeon’s stomach, making the girl inhale deeply and let it out slowly so that she wouldn’t moan. Every touch from Tiffany right now could easily set her off after the hours of fantasizing of her and now being so close to her she could feel her body heat… their thighs brushing against each other from time to time…

“Really though, I can still smell that garlic bread from the day before yesterday—” she tried to joke away the situation.

“Sleep!”

“I mean there might be some rules you really don’t like but brushing your teeth twice a day is— Ouch!” Tiffany literally punched her in the stomach. “Ah, that really hurt, Fany.” And so Tiffany rubbed her stomach now.

“Sorry. But you really should learn when to stop.” The fabric of her shirt slid up a bit from time to time as Tiffany’s soft hands did those circular motions. “Better now?”

A little moan escaped Taeyeon in response. ‘Sh*t!’

“Good.”

Apparently, Tiffany just regarded the little sound as a positive response.

A few seconds later, her touch became lighter and her movements lazier and eventually, her fingers stopped, still lightly resting on the skin of Taeyeon’s stomach.

If she had any chance of falling asleep before, she surely wasn’t going to now that Tiffany was breathing onto her neck, touching her skin and their thighs were resting against each other.

Taeyeon found it really hard to breathe with all the body heat and smells that she was taking in, and all the thoughts that were swirling in her brain, making it very hard to resist to pull Tiffany closer or to kiss her or do anything to her, really.

She wanted to stay there next to her, she really did but she felt so tortured she thought of doing more and more insane things by the minute. It was one thing that Tiffany was a wild kid who did crazy stuff to her heart’s content but that didn’t mean she’d jump into anything like what Taeyeon was thinking about, especially with her.

She didn’t want to do anything she’d regret so after an hour of struggling to keep her thoughts clean and her hands to herself, Taeyeon sat up in the bed and was about to slip out seamlessly when she felt a hand take hold of her wrist.

“You really can’t sleep, now can you?” Tiffany’s touch and croaky voice sent shivers down Taeyeon’s spine.

“You just go back to sleep. I’ll read.”

But Tiffany sat up instead, checking the time on her phone.

“Let’s go out,” she said and threw the blanket off their bodies completely. “The sun will rise soon. I know a place. Let’s go.”

“… ”

“Come on, hurry up, put something on if you don’t wanna catch a cold,” Tiffany whispered as she threw on her sweater and a pair of socks messily. All three of them went to bed fully clothed basically. Tiffany had even left her bracelets on.

“But Hyo—”

“She’ll be fine, let her sleep.”

So they ended up heading out to the river bank in the dark, taking nothing but the keys with themselves.

“Oh, that’ll be a nice spot!” Tiffany pointed at a deck by a small but fancy looking building.

“I think that belongs to the restaurant.”

“So? It’s not open yet, no-one’s gonna care,” she shrugged. “And if someone comes, we’re just gonna politely say sorry and leave.”

“Okay.”

And so they settled down on the deck by the river with a scenic view of the awakening city ahead of them.

“Looks so beautiful,” Tiffany said as she laid her head on Taeyeon’s shoulder. “How about I make you sunrise nails next?”

“That’d be nice.” ‘That’d be romantic.’

    Tiffany sighed.

“When are you free again?” she asked.

“I’m free tomorrow afternoon… I mean, today. In the afternoon.”

“I know but I’m not. I’m going shopping for that dol party with Sooyoung. Monday’s out for you… Tuesday?”

“In the morning before classes.”

“Okay.” Tiffany cradled Taeyeon’s arm to herself. “It’s a little chilly,” she said.

“Yeah,” Taeyeon agreed, heart pounding. “Do you come watch the sunrise often?”

“Nah, I never really did. I usually get too drunk or tired by that time to do so.”

‘So you’re watching the sunrise with me for the first time… ’

“I mean, I’ve seen it in passing but never like this.”

“Hmm.”

“Have you?”

Taeyeon chuckled as she remembered something. “Yeah, once or twice when I was a kid. My brother and I used to sneak out of the house at 5am because we invented this other dimension of magical world that we wanted to dig a passage to. I mean, I was seven, I kinda knew it was silly, what we were doing, but I guess I wanted to believe it too.” Taeyeon paused. “But looking back at it, maybe it was just the thrill of breaking the rules? I don’t know.” It suddenly occurred to her how she always secretly held a soft spot for any game that would involve breaking some rules in it as a kid. She wondered what changed her so much. “Anyway, so we had to go early in the morning when no-one was awake yet because it was a secret. We had to see what we were doing too but we didn’t want to draw attention with a torchlight so we always went around dawn instead. But we were still kids. Usually, after a few minutes of digging we’d get bored and tired. So we sometimes just watched the sun come up then.”

“How long did you do this?”

“I really can’t remember anymore… All I remember is that we stopped when my mom accidentally fell into the pit we dag one day. It was pretty poorly disguised, actually, but I guess Mom didn’t watch her step… She wasn’t really happy when she found out about our little sneak-outs.”

“Yeah, that’s just how moms are, right?”

“That’s just how adults are.” Taeyeon was slightly surprised when she heard what she just said. But it was true, she concluded. Adults were the ones that taught kids about the rules in life, and they were the ones that would teach you how to keep to them. They don’t teach much about when to, though. You don’t always have to. But they never tell you that. It’s actually quite the opposite. They’d always tell you
