Point of View - III
Painting With WordsThird person point of view is probably the most commonly used point of view in writing. In addition to this, we all use third person point of view in writing essays, reports, and all that jazz.
When using this point of view, you always refer to the characters as; he, she, her, him, the female, the male, the characer's name and the list goes on and on!
If you're talking about a characeter's possesion use; his and her/hers, it, its.
An example of this point of view would be:
The young male was seated atop a wooden stool as he watched the elder woman stroll around the shop leisurely. She occasionally bent down to pick dead or fallen petals from the beautiful plants. With a lazy smile, he continued to let his eyes graze the interior of the bright shop. He loved being among the flowers. They made him feel at peace, something he hardly had due to stress from school and dance practise.
I took this example from my story since I was too lazy to write something short, but there you have it, all the pronouns.
As you can (hopefully) see, this point of view gives the viewer an omniscient (all seeing) view to the reader. It's as if the reader is there, watching the scene unfold before their eyes. You know?
In addition to this, this point of view is the most "flexible" to write in, thus making it the easiest. (in my opinion)
There we have it, folks! I hope you guys found this useful and I'll be back with more tips!
