Point of View - II
Painting With WordsSecond Person: Second person point of view is written or told with the usage of "you". An example of the usage of this specific point of view would be:
You lifted a hand up to wave at the latter, a brigh smile decorating your lips.
Do you see how the words "you"and "your" are used in this example? This is second person pont of view.
I know that a lot of users here on this site use this point of view often, but I find that it's not effective in large doses. Sure, it involves the reader in the story, but after a while it's tiring to read. However, this point of view is very effective in smaller doses. This can either be in a prologue or in scenes that occur throughout a first/third person view story.
In this point of view, you're only limited to making the reader imagine that they're the ones doing the things that the character does. In addition, this viewpoint involves the reader in the action and draws their attention in to what's happening. They are now the character, not in their shoes.
All in all, there's not a lot to say about this point of view other than that.
So until next time, have fun writing!
