A/N: This is the second and last part of the Baekhyun x Naeun / Luhan x Yuhee fluff!~ There were a few references from the second chapter, but not much. Enjoy~

*Festival Part Two

          She blinked at him. Then she stammered, “I – um – err – I – uh – thank you. Sorry, I’m not taking this in very well,” she laughed nervously.

          He shook his head. “It’s not your fault. I didn’t mean to offend you.”

          “You didn’t offend me! I like it!” Naeun quickly said, and then covered , blushing more than before. “I mean – it’s not bad…”

          Baekhyun was able to look at her again. His cheeks were still pink, but still. “You…like it?”

          Naeun bit her lip. “Well if you ask me that directly I can’t answer…but yeah…kind of…”

          Baekhyun pinched her nose. “You’re cute,” he said again, finding more confidence. She blushed and lightly smacked his arm. After that, it was quiet between the two, so they tried to find some relief – Luhan and Yuhee.

          Luhan had his arm around Yuhee, hers on his waist. She laughed at one of his lame jokes that weren’t even funny and pinched his nose, which made him poke her cheek with the same hand that was on her shoulder. She stuck her tongue out at him and he swooped down to her height and pecked her nose, making her stick her tongue out again. Luhan chuckled and ruffled her hair as she began to admire the glowing lanterns.

          Seeing their couple-like selves didn’t help at all. What made things worse (or better?) was that the sidewalk thinned drastically, leaving just enough space for exactly two people. Luhan and Yuhee didn’t mind – they were used to being close to each other. On the other hand, it made the pre-couple anxious. Their arms were constantly sliding and touching. Naeun felt her heart pound against her chest. Why was she so nervous? It wasn’t that she didn’t like this feeling, it was just that it puzzled her. Why was it that her heart raced whenever Baekhyun was near her? Baekhyun was feeling no different – blood rushed through his head and a strange feeling swept through his whole body. He struggled to walk normally and breathe properly at the same time.

          Soon, much too soon, the sidewalk became slimmer again. Yuhee giggled as she transitioned from holding hands with Luhan to linking arms, bringing the two closer as they walked. Naeun and Baekhyun blushed when they saw that transition, but Baekhyun took it cool. It was his chance. He stuck an arm out quite bravely, and she blinked at him. Then she realized why he had done that. “Um…okay,” she said awkwardly as she held onto his arm. It wasn’t a careless link that she did with her other friends – it was with a boy, a boy that made her nervous, a cute boy that made her nervous – and they were dangerously close. And, of course, the sidewalk only became thinner and thinner and thinner…

          “Aish, this is a stupid game…” mumbled Baekhyun. They had to walk with their back facing outwards. They were face-to-face and could feel each other’s breaths. Luhan and Yuhee laughed, but it sounded distant to Baekhyun and Naeun. They didn’t matter, not now. “Are we almost there?” he whispered. He didn’t have to talk loud for her to hear.

          Naeun glanced forward. “I don’t know, Luhan and Yuhee are kind of blocking the way…” She bit her lower lip. “Sorry for dragging you into this, I didn’t know it was going to be this narrow – oh dear –” Naeun’s and Baekhyun’s feet were practically in one line now, stepping sideways like a crab. “I should’ve known that free candy doesn’t come easy – should we just forfeit?”

          Even as she suggested that, Baekhyun knew that she wanted to win this. Baekhyun smiled at her and shook his head, “We’ve come this far – let’s finish it. We can’t be that far from being done, right?”

          The ends of her lips curled up a bit and Baekhyun was glad to see it. If it was for Naeun’s smile, he’d do this Starlight Stroll ten times. He also understood her intense passion and love for candy. They continued along their path in silence and they stole glances at the other and sometimes, they’d catch the other staring and they’d laugh. They took it slow and, for all honesty, the two didn’t mind. Sure it was unusual, awkward, strange, nerve-racking and everything, but they were glad they had a chance to feel this way – adrenaline rushing, anxiety coursing, heart racing, and mind blanking. It was a new feeling and they wouldn’t mind getting used to it.

          “Don’t be so nervous,” Baekhyun assured Naeun. He took her hands carefully and laced it with his. Naeun gasped a bit at this movement, but Baekhyun’s soft voice and gentle smile relaxed her. “There we go…we’re almost done, I’m sure.”

          “I just…haven’t been…this close – with anyone. Not even Yuhee or Inhae or Hyoeun or my mom.” Naeun laughed quietly and shortly, and Baekhyun did too.

          “Neither have I. But,” Baekhyun grinned, “I guess this is how Sehun and Inhae feels all the time, right? The two can never part.”

          Naeun laughed. “They look cute. I don’t think I could handle this if it wasn’t you.”

          Baekhyun let that sink in. He was the only one she’d do this with? Was this a sign, an invitation? Was he supposed to confess now? She sort of confessed…right? Or maybe not…but still, he should confess today. Tell her tonight. He wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass. In school, they hardly had a chance to get closer but now – now they were physically close, they couldn’t help but trust each other and just…enjoy each other’s presence. And Baekhyun enjoyed Naeun’s presence very much.

          Luhan and Yuhee were laughing and making fun of each other, but being competitive, they made sure they didn’t lose.

          “Aw, am I making you breathless?” Luhan teased when he saw Yuhee’s eyes widen a little when the already narrow pathway thinned even more. “I know I am extremely good-looking and everything but we can do this any time you know. No need to fret so much.”

          “What are you talking about? I’m not fretting. And you’re unattractive,” Yuhee said with a smirk.

          Luhan leaned in, and Yuhee’s breath hitched, her smirk wiped off. “Really?” Then Luhan gripped Yuhee’s arms for he knew she would’ve smacked his chest if he hadn’t. “Hit me and I fall off the course and we lose.”

          Yuhee growled. “I hate you.”

          “You love me.”

          “Ew.”

          Baekhyun and Naeun were whispering comfort words. “Are you okay? Just hang in there…” and Naeun would nod. Baekhyun knew Naeun’s innocence kept her from getting too close to guys. “Just a bit more – oh look! No, actually, don’t, you’re going to fall, but Yuhee and Luhan just got off the trails. We’re done.”

          Naeun took a deep breath. They took baby steps and finally managed. There were two people at the end by a stand who congratulated them brightly and gave them a package of candy each. Naeun brightened at that and hugged the bag. She stuffed three in , and Baekhyun laughed. Naeun’s eyes closed in pure bliss – “Finally. It’s done and I have candy.”

          “Ha, did you hate it that much?” he asked, popping a candy in his mouth too. It was sweet.

          “It’s not that I hated it…it wasn’t…yeah,” Naeun finished lamely.

          Baekhyun laughed and pinched her nose. “You’re cute.”

          Naeun couldn’t help but blush.

          And suddenly, they heard loud whistling, like a heated kettle. Then the whistling turned into a loud boom. The fiery orange rocket exploded into white stardust with a thundering boom. People made sounds of awe as they began to gather. The firework was far away, but the heat still warmed their faces. Pinks, blues, greens, reds, golds – many colors came together and exploded in synchronization. Background firecrackers were sent up too, but they weren’t as grand as the main ones. The four teenager’s eyes were plastered on the dark sky that was being lit up.

          Luhan back-hugged Yuhee and pecked her cheek before he looked back at the sky. Yuhee gripped his arm and her eyes fluttered shut at his touch, but re-opened when another firecracker exploded. In different speed rates and patterns, the show went on.

          Naeun probably had the biggest smile on her face – bigger than the children’s. Her eyes were glued to the sky. She admired fire and the fireworks were just another version of the heat and important element. Fire was light. Fire made food cook. Fire warmed people and animals up. Fire had its bad sides, but to Naeun, it was a sign of hope. Baekhyun saw the nostalgic and pensive look on Naeun’s face he couldn’t help but stare. He suddenly had a crazy idea. It was best to confess when risks were at hand, right? This was the biggest risk he could think of.

          He nudged her a few times, lightly. It took awhile for Naeun to take her eyes off from the sky, but she did eventually. Baekhyun swallowed at her innocent, inquisitive eyes. He gently touched her shoulder and leaned in – this was totally out of character and crazy. Naeun’s eyes widened but she didn’t object. This is crazy, this is crazy, this is crazy, Baekhyun thought, but he was too lost in the moment to care. He extended his neck further until his lips brushed against hers. Naeun almost flinched, but she held it back – this was too precious to lose. She came closer and she felt her heart skip a beat. And then they pulled away ever so gently. She giggled in embarrassment, and he chuckled too. He tucked some of Naeun’s black hair behind her ear and caressed her cheeks. “You’re cute.” It made Naeun laugh again.

          As the two enjoyed a short but memorable kiss, Luhan and Yuhee were observing carefully. Yuhee almost squealed in joy when Baekhyun leaned in, and she was happier when Naeun made a move too. She rested her head on Luhan’s shoulder, “They’re really cute, huh?”

          “So are we,” he said.

          Three fireworks shot up into the black sky and exploded the loudest, hottest, and biggest. That received a standing ovation and several whistles from the late-night spectators. It was the fitting ending for such a splendid festival. But what really made Baekhyun’s and Naeun’s night was the soft feeling of each other’s lips.
