Chapter 15 - What can I do, what can I say?

Broken Promise

Chunji POV:
The days slowly count down, the day until you move to Seoul and practice hard for your debut as Teen Top. This had always been your dream, to become a famous singer, but you never realized that this dream would mean breaking your promise with the person you had loved all your life. But you have never told her you loved her, because if you did, it would only hurt her more.

Maybe she’s better off with Zelo. She hasn’t talked to him for a while, has she? 3 more days, you say to yourself as you stare at your calendar which hangs slanting on the wall. I need to get Zelo and Madeline back. You walk downstairs and you wait patiently for Madeline at her gate. She comes out skipping in excitement, and she stumbles on her untied shoelace. You can’t help but smile. It would be so much easier if it weren't like this...

Your POV:
Even with the great joy of Chunji being accepted by TOP Media and into ‘Teen Top’, he still had this aura of depression which gravitated around him, like how the moon orbits around the Earth. You glance at him who you find to be staring into the distance, as if he were some genius mathematician trying to puzzle their way out of a complicated equation.
For the rest of the long winter day he continues this behavior of his, and you start to get a tad worried for him.

...

Chunji... what’s happening...?
“Madeline... can you come see me at the gym hall after school?” asks Chunji before he attends class.
“Sure.” you reply.

As you walked to your seat, you were caught by surprise, because Zelo was sitting in his usual spot, with his head resting on his elbow, but his hair dyed in a vibrant blue instead of the baby pink that you knew him to have. He looked more mature than usual—his face ridden with a look of concentration. You take your usual seat beside him, and whenever he looked away, you would secretly spy on him. His jawline had become sharper than before, and his shoulders are broader. His nose was perfectly arched, and his eyes were distantly cold.

Your heart still stung by his words. I will always be waiting for you. You close your eyes and furrowed your eyebrows. Ouch. It was a challenge to focus on the words of the teacher, because you couldn’t help but continually glance at Zelo’s blue hair and the back of Chunji’s head.

You ran your hands through your silky hair, frustrated with your crazy mind. With the inability to do anything productive, you rose from your seat and asked the teacher to excuse you to the toilets. Only, it wasn’t really your plan to go to the toilet.

You walked calmly out of the classroom door and suddenly started sprinting. To where? You asked yourself this question, again and again. What can I do? Is there a way to bring Zelo back to how the way we were? What can I say? How do I speak to him like I always did, with a smile? Is it still possible to return to that again?

You continue running, running anywhere. Anywhere away from that classroom with Zelo in it. You arrive back in class, with a blank expression, but your heart torn apart. I’m horrible. I’m loving two people at once. Chunji and Zelo, sorry for being such a horrible person.

The school bell rings, and Chunji immediately rises from his seat and walks swiftly out of the classroom. You decided to take your time, taking small, slow steps to the gym. With your bag slung sloppily over one shoulder, you take one more step, and stand quietly in the middle of the large gym, waiting for Chunji. Wouldn’t he be here before me?

Suddenly, the double doors of gym the slams shut, echoing in the darkness. Your hair stands on end, and you shiver immediately. You walk calmly to the doors, and try to pull it open. Your eyes widen, because you realize that they are locked shut, or something is blocking it from opening on the other side. You hit the door repeatedly with clenched fists, panicked, and you scream for help, for anyone, for Chunji. It was your fear, confinement. You can’t stand it.

You ram your body helplessly against the door, in attempt to burst it open. Again and again you try, but your strength was worthless. Eventually, your body feels as if it would fall apart, and you sink to the ground hopelessly. Tears well up in the corner of your eyes, and you sink to the ground, still panicked. A hand touches your shoulder.

Chapter 14: I am only on chapter fourteen, but i really have to compliment you. There are REALLY few fanfics that I actually ENJOY and like. Most that I subscribe to are only because authors make you, but in the end I don't always enjoy their story. However, I really liked yours and it made me want to read a lot more.
