“Okay guys, it’s the time of the year again. It’s time for the School Festival. As a tradition in our school, students from different organization, gather around to come up with themes for our School Festival. Presidents from different organizations sent in their suggestions as the faculty staffs deliberate the year’s theme.” Their head coach, BoA announced.

“Now the theme for this year is circus theme. Now, we have to conceptualize a routine that’ s similar as the circus. Im Yoona, since you’re the head cheerleader, i leave that to you, arasso?”

“Ne.” Yoona smiled timidly.

“Okay, i will leave you now so you could conceptualize the routine with your team.  Meeting adjourned.” Coach BoA said and left the room.

“Yes! My favourite time of the year again!” Hyoyeon fist pumped with Sunny as they approached Yoona.

“I know we’ll come up of the best concept once again just like we do every year, Yoong.” Sunny nudged the forlorn head cheerleader.

“Hey, something’s wrong?” Sunny asked again.

“I know what’s wrong. It’s Kwon Yuri once again.” Hyoyeon replied.

“Yoong, it’s been a week since that incident happened. We all thought you’re over it by now.” Hyoyeon put an arm around the girl.

Since the day that Yuri said that she doesn’t want to be friends with Yoona, she decided that she will forget and move on but she couldn’t. She’s such a fool for falling so hard with Kwon Yuri and she doesn’t want anybody else.

“I tried guys, but i couldn’t. I think no matter what happened i will still love Yuri.” Yoona sighed.

“Aww, that’s okay you will move on from her soon. But for the mean time, let’s prepare for the festival and show everyone, including Kwon Yuri, what she’s been missing.” Hyoyeon nudged her friend which made the cheerleader smile.

“Arasso.” Yoona smiled which made the two cheered.

“OKAY! EASY WITH THE BANNER GUYS! WET PAINT!” the kid leader, Taeyeon yelled at the group of students who were carrying the newly-paint banner to hang it in front of their school building.

Beside them were the cheerleading team who got kicked out of the gym because the basketball team were practicing for the finals.

“Okay, i like this. It has a circus vibe on it.” Seohyun said as she discussed the design of the booths to other students as she was Taeyeon’s assistant for the festival.

“Okay guys! Now that we got everything covered for our routine, let’s get started!” Yoona yelled at her team as they all started to rehearse. Yoona was in front watching her team as they dance their routine. She guided them by dancing along with them.

The space that they were, was a bit cramped since they don’t have any place to go but beside Taeyeon and Seohyun’s group. They rehearsed their routine despite of the little space.

“Keep dancing guys, don’t worry, coach Boa said that she’ll find a space for us to rehearse later. But for the mean time let’s do our best to perfect this routine, arasso?!” Yoona said to her team.

“NE!”  then, the group started to dance again and this time Yoona joined the team.

Her position was very cramped because she’s beside the ladder where Taeyeon’s team were placing the banner. Good thing Taeyeon’s team were already done and decided to rest for a bit so Yoona’s team could rehearse. But when they were about to do the pirouette move as a part of their performance, Yoona accidentally knocked down the ladder with a can of paint at the top.

Yoona heard the gasp of the people as well as the ladder and the paint clashed over the body so closed her eyes to prepare herself for the possible impact of the paint and ladder over her but she felt something soft instead of the cold hard metal. She slowly opened her eyes and saw hair covering over them. She gasped when she saw a girl over her but not just any other girls.

It’s Kwon Yuri.

”Y-Yuri?” she mumbled. Yuri stared at her but she story when she heard whispering around her.

“Oh God! Where does she come from?” one of Yoona’s teammate said.

“I’m absolutely jealous right now, it’s really rare to see Yuri on top of you, right?” one of the students said.

“Totally, Yoona is very lucky.” The other one agreed.

“If that’s how you could get Yuri’s attention, i might injured myself, too.” The other girl said.

“Yoong? Are you alright?” Sooyoung yelled and crouch in between Yoona and Yuri, completely forgot the tanned girl.

“Y-yeah, i’m fine.” Yoona said and tried to stand up but failed due to the swelling of her foot. “Aaahh!” she yelled as she clutched her foot.

Just then, Yuri came in between them and asked, “C’mon i’ll take you to the clinic.”

“N-no need Yuri-ssi. I’m okay. I’ll just take a rest.” Yoona insisted.

“No, you’re not okay.” Yuri persisted.

“I am, Soo unnie and the girls will take me to the clinic. Thanks for the offer, anyway.” Yoona bowed.

“No. Stop bothering others. C’mon, i said i’ll take you to the clinic.” Yuri said bluntly.

Yoona gasped at Yuri’s frankness. When Yoona didn’t answer right away, she swept Yoona up and carried her bridal style to the clinic. People couldn’t help but felt giddy with what Yuri did to the popular girl.

“YAAAHHHH~~! PUT ME DOWN!” Yoona protested but deep inside she’s gushing. “GUYS, HELP ME!”

She turned to look at her friends who were smirking the whole time. They perfectly know that Yoona was just faking it. Deep inside they knew that Yoona prayed for this to happen.

“THANKS, YURI-SSI FOR BRINGING OUR YOONA TO THE CLINIC!” Sooyoung yelled at the two while snickering with their friends.

“YAH! CHOI SOOYOUNG! I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!” Yoona yelled back.

 “Oh, Yuri-yah, what brings you here?” the young nurse said and immediately turned towards Yoona. “and why are you with Yoona-ssi?” she teased.

 Yuri rolled her eyes and put down Yoona on the bed near them. She looked back at the nurse whose smirking at them. She knows that Yuri is blushing.

“she knocked down the ladder while they were rehearsing.” Yuri said indifferently as she turned around and leave. “I’ll be back after you’re done with her. I got thirsty because she’s too heavy.”

Yuri didn’t even wait for the two to reply and left. The two were dumbfounded until the nurse shrugged and smiled back at Yoona.

“Just don’t mind her, Yoona-ssi. She’s just trying to hide her blushing face. Did you see her? She’s really cute. I have never seen her blush because she’s too serious and uptight all the time.”

The nurse began to examine the doe eyed girl’s foot. She tried to turn it but Yoona kept on yelping.

“It’s nothing serious. It’s just sprain. Just put cold compress from time to time to lessen the swelling. Here, drink this pain killer. Don’t worry, you’ll be dancing in no time.” The nurse smiled as she handed Yoona the medicine and a glass of water.

“Thank you, Nurse---?” Yoona said as she handed back the glass.

“Narsha. Call me, Nurse Narsha.” The young nurse smiled. “Yuri is the only one who likes to call me, ‘Narsha unnie’. You can call me that, too if you want.”

“Are you related to Yuri?”

The beautiful nurse giggled and said, “I wish i am related to her so that i can be as gorgeous as her but no. We’re not related.”

Yoona got confused.

“I know that look.” Narsha said as she sat down beside Yoona on the bed. “i have known Yuri for a long time. The first time i saw her is when i saw her on the corridor sitting almost unconscious. I thought someone tried to beat her up but she later told me that she got into a fight. Knowing her reputation in this school, I never ask because she never talk nor share anything. After that, she came up to me, pleading never to tell anyone what happened to her.  I saw sincerity in her eyes so, i did not tell anyone but i let her promise that if anything happens to her, just come to me. She did. Every time she got into a fight, she let me treat her wounds. But lately, i noticed that she didn’t come to me when she got into a fight. I saw you, and i know why.” Narsha smirked.

Yoona started to blush when Narsha was staring at her. 

“Aahhh---no, Nurse Narsha, we’re not----“ Yoona stammered.

Narsha giggled. “Relax, dear. I know you’re not together. Yet. But i know you will.”

“No, uuhh...Yuri...”

“I have never seen Yuri with anybody else. I never saw her bring someone here. You’re the first girl, Yoona-ssi.”

“But, maybe Yuri was just being nice.?” Yoona tried to reason.

As much as she wanted to believe what Narsha said, she tried not to. She knows that Yuri has someone else. A very beautiful girl to be exact.

“I have known Yuri for a long time. Even though we didn’t have any long conversations like we did, there is one thing i know about her.” Narsha said as she looked straight at Yoona.

“She never gets into other people’s business unless it’s about someone she cares a lot. If Yuri doesn’t care about you, she probably left you there and let your friends bring you here instead of her, right?”

‘Nurse Narsha is right. Yuri did care about me! EeeEEeePpppP!!!’ Yoona thought.

“Yuri may do things opposite or may not say anything just---“

“Yah! Are you doing your job or what?!” Yuri suddenly burst in. She walked in front of the two and looked at Yoona’s foot.

“See? It’s not even attended to! What kind of nurse are you?” Yuri went berserk. “C’mon, i’m taking you to a better clinic. Where there are no gossip nurses.”

Yuri pulled Yoona up from the bed but Yuri pulled back went Yoona refused to stand. The tanned girl looked back at her confused.

“N-no need to take me t-to other clinic, Y-Yuri-ssi. Narsha unnie told me that it’s not that serious. It’s just a minor sprain.” Yoona explained.

Yuri looked at her blankly and shrugged.

“Whatever. Can you walk?” Yuri asked. Yoona tried to walk but when she stepped her injured foot, she sat down in pain.

“I guess not. C’mon let me carry you.” Yuri crouched in front of Yoona to carry her. Her action made Yoona blushed.

‘Omona! She’s going to carry me on her back? Oh God!’  Yoona said to herself.

“carrying her on her back? Oh how sweet of you, Yuri.” Narsha said dreamily.

The two girls forgot that Narsha is still there, watching them.

“What are you doing here?” Yuri snapped at the young nurse.

Narsha raised her eyebrows at the young girl and scoffed. “Yuri-yah, i work here, remember?” then, she smirked to tease Yuri. “You’re too preoccupied with Yoona so you forgot everything else.”

Yoona saw the blush on Yuri’s face as she tried to mask it with an annoyed face. “You’re talking nonsense. We’re going to leave now. Let’s go, Yoona.”

Yuri carried Yoona on her back and they went out of the clinic.

“Narsha unnie is just plain crazy. She’s kept talking nonsense. Aarrgghh! I will kill her next time.” Yuri mumbled to herself but Yoona heard everything clearly.

While listening to Yuri rambling, Yoona felt her heart beating twice as she was perched on Yuri’s back. She leaned in slowly to smell her crush’s hair.

‘Oh God, her hair smell so good. She smells so good too.’

Yoona continued to lean in until she reached unconsciously to Yuri’s neck, smelling her.

‘Damn,i can do this forever.’

“Ehhhemm.”

Yoona snapped back to reality and noticed that she’s already nuzzling on Yuri’s neck. Yoona pulled back immediately and mumbled, “sorry”. The doe eyed girl noticed the redness on Yuri’s ears. She immediately knew that the other girl is blushing.

‘Oh God, she’s blushing again. It’s so cute.’ Yoona gushed.

Yuri continued walking on the hallways of their school. She exhaled when she saw that there are no students on their hallways. People will probably talk if they saw her carrying the most popular girl in their campus. Good thing that most of them were already in their classrooms except for the organizers of the festival who were excused from their class.

Yoona noticed that they’re going the opposite way where her friends are.

“uuuhh, Yuri-ssi, where are we going? My friends are over there.” Yoona said.

“I’m taking you home.” Yuri said simply while walking.

Yoona was taken aback from what Yuri said. She couldn’t believe that Yuri is taking her home. But she suddenly remembered what Yuri said to her that they couldn’t be friends.

“W-what? B-but...” she tried to refuse but deep inside her she wanted Yuri to take her home.

“what?”

“Y-you don’t need to do that, Yuri-ssi. Soo unnie and my other friends are going to help me home.”

Yoona gasped when Yuri immediately put her down.

“Go, walk to your friends, then.” Yuri  said.

Yoona tried to but she failed due to the pain on her foot.

“Aaahhh~!” she yelped.

“See? You’re too stubborn.” Yuri as she put Yoona’s arm around her to help her.

Yoona just wanted to prove Yuri that she can do it on her. She doesn’t want to be in debt just because Yuri saved her again.

“I just wanted to...” Yoona mumbed but Yuri stopped her.

“You can’t alright? Just listen to me okay?!” Yuri yelled.  Yoona was left speechless.

“Stop being stubborn, let’s go.” Yuri carried her again on her back and they walked towards the direction of the parking lot.

‘I just can’t with her. Is she being concerned or am i being a pain in the for her?’ Yoona pouted as Yuri walked them towards her motorcycle.

Yuri placed her down and gave her her helmet. “Wear this.”

Yoona looked at Yuri and to the helmet and to Yuri again. “But it’s only one.” Yoona handed the helmet back to Yuri.

“Wear it.” Yuri returned it to Yoona.

“What about you?” Yoona gave it back to Yuri.

“don’t mind me. I’ve done it hundreds of times. It’s your first time, right? You should wear this.” Yuri put it on Yoona’s head and locked it. “there, c’mon.”

Yuri mounted her motorcycle and Yoona followed suit.

“Hold on to my waist, okay?” Yuri said as she started the engine.

“Okay” as she took a deep breath not because of the motorcycle but because of Yuri’s presence. She held on Yuri’s waist and they drove away.

The ride to Yoona’s house was quiet. Yoona tightened her grip on Yuri’s waist whenever Yuri speeds up. The tanned girl noticed that so she yelled through the noisy sound of the engine,

“If you’re scared just lean in to me.”

Yoona did as she was told and leaned into Yuri’s back. She sighed, smelling the faint smell of Yuri’s leather jacket and her comfortable smell.

‘How can i get any luckier than this?’ Yoona thought. ‘she might be arrogant at times, i have to admit, i feel safer whenever i’m with her’

Yoona tightened her grip as if she’s backhugging Yuri while she closed her eyes. While she’s savouring the moment, she remembered Yuri’s beautiful girlfriend. She loosened her grip.

Yuri felt it so she cleared .

“Uuhh, w-where is the way to your house?” Yuri asked.

Yoona sat up starightly suddenly missed Yuri’s comfortable back.

“Uhhm, just go straight ahead and when you reached the last street turn left. The third building there is where my apartment is.” Yoona instructed as Yuri nodded.

They continued to ride the motorcycle in silence.

Yuri parked her motorcycle near the building and turn off the engine. She helped Yoona to get off the bike and removed the helmet from her head.

“Thanks for what you’ve done today, it’s too much.” Yoona mumbled and started to walk away from Yuri while limping and hiding the pain. She immediately thought that it will take her hours to go up to her  apartment since her floor is on the 4^th.

‘maybe the security ahjussi will help me.’ Yoona thought.

“Yah! Where are you going?” Yuri held the girl’s wrist to stop her from walking further.

“I-i...to my apartment.” Yoona asked confused.

“i’m taking you to your apartment.” Yuri said confidently.

Yoona’s eyes widened. Yuri couldn’t take her home. Yuri has done enough for her already so, carrying her to the four flights of stairs is too much.

“N-no. Yuri, you’ve done too much. I-i’ll be fine. I’ll just ask the ahjussi to take me upstairs.” Yoona tried to refuse but Yuri glared at her.

“What did i say earlier?” Yuri frowned.

Yoona opened to oppose but closed again.

“Fine. But don’t say i didn’t warn you that my floor is too high. You might get tired.” Yoona said.

“Don’t mind me. It’s nothing. Gaja.” She replied as she crouched in front of Yoona. Yoona complied and climbed at Yuri’s back.

‘Damn, i can get use to this.’ Yoona blushed.

they walked to the entrance and they were greeted by a balding fat man. He’s Mr. Park, the building’s security guard. He’s very nice and he treats Yoona like his own daughter.

“Aahh, Yoona-ssi. What happened?” Mr. Park asked worriedly.

“Mr. Park, annyeong. I got injured while practising.” Yoona said shyly and unconsciously hid on Yuri’s neck which made the tanned girl stiffened.

“Oh, your girlfriend is so sweet.” Mr. Park chuckled.

“A-an-niy-yo...we’re not...”

“we’re n-not...”

“Oh i get it. Kids these days. Don’t worry, it’ll be our little secret.” Mr. Park winked at them and walked away.

The two of them sighed while blushing. Then, Yoona cleared .

“C’mon, let’s go upstairs.” She tried to forget their embarrassment as Yuri walk to the stairs.

“Okay, what’s your floor?”

“4^th”. Yoona said simply. She looked at Yuri who seemed surprised but then she nodded.

Yuri inhaled and exhaled.

“Okay, let’s go.”

“What?!” Yoona exclaimed.

“What do you mean what?” Yuri asked.

“are you serious? You’re going upstairs with me carrying on your back?!”

“Yes.”

“Jinjja?!” Yoona looked at her disbelievingly.

“Of course.” Yuri scoffed and she started to climb the stairs.

Yoona stared at Yuri for the whole time while they were walking up the stairs. She couldn’t help but feel sorry because she can see that Yuri is acting like she’s okay but she’s actually really tired.

“Yuri, maybe we could stop now yo—“

“No, it will be more tiring if we stop now.” Yuri said as she continued going up the stairs as Yoona kept an eye on her.

Finally, they reached her floor and when to her doorstep. Yuri placed her down and slumped her head by the door.

“You’re too heavy.” Yuri exhaled.

“Sorry. Do you want some water? Why don’t you come inside?” Yoona offered.

“No need, i’m okay now.” Yuri stood up and dusted off her pants. “go inside and rest.”

“Are you sure?” Yoona asked.

“Yeah. Go take a rest.” Yuri ordered.

“Okay, thanks for today.” Yoona smiled timidly and turns to unlock the door but when she was about to open the door, she heard Yuri said,

“Yoona?”

Yoona turned around surprised. She thought that Yuri was gone but here she was in front of her.

“Ne?”

“Mianhe.” Yuri said simply by looking intensely in her doe eyes. Yoona looked at her confused.

“W-what?”

“Mianhe.” Yuri repeated. “Our last conversation didn’t end greatly. I acted rude towards you and your friends. I should’ve done that.” Yuri sighed and continued. “i...uuhh...i’m not used t-to that. I’ve only known few people for a...v-very long time and i was shocked. I got scared if more people know me, it’ll hard for me...to...uuhh...” Yuri mumbled which made Yoona even more confused. “So, i’m sorry if i hurt you and your friends. I know that they are nice, i was just surprised that’s all.”

Yoona looked at Yuri as she explained. She found Yuri adorable because she saw how the girl is having a hard time explaining her side.  Yoona giggled which made Yuri looked at her confusingly.

“Even though i don’t really understand you, i forgive you, Yuri.” Yoona smiled.

Yuri’s face light up and smiled. Yoona’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. She never seen that smile and she’s lucky that she could finally see Kwon Yuri’s beautiful smile.

“Thank you.” Yuri grinned.

Yoona’s heart beats twice once again when she saw that grin on Yuri’s face.

“Yuri?” Yoona asked.

“Yep?” Yuri replied.

“Is that why you saved me earlier?”

“What?”

“You saved me because you wanted to apologise to me?”

Yuri stared at her for seconds and then took a deep breath.

“Yes.”

Yoona was dumbfounded.  Yuri did that?

“Why?”

“Because if i come up to you, you might walk away. I just chose a perfect timing to talk to you.” Yuri looked down as she shuffled her feet.

“So you wished that for me to happen?!” Yoona gasped.

“No, It’s like i’m responsible for you every time something happens to you.” Yuri looked up straight into Yoona’s eyes.

“Are you like a superhero or something? It’s like you’re always there.” Yoona’s question might be a little strange but she couldn’t help to ask the girl. It’s been a third time that she saved her from trouble.

‘how come she knows it whenever i’m in trouble?’

 “i wish i am but i guess it’s just coincidence. You’re everywhere. So it’s easy to see, i guess.” Yuri shrugged. “And besides, you’re like a trouble magnet.” The tanned girl grinned.

‘i think i’m going to die from heart attack here. How come she skipped my heart a beat three times in a row?’ Yoona thought.

“YAH!” Yoona yelled which made Yuri laughed. Yoona’s anger just poofed away when she heard the melodious voice of Yuri’s laugh.

‘Can she be any perfect?’ Yoona wondered.

“So, is your offer still up?” Yuri asked with a glint of wariness.

“What offer?’

“For us to be friends?”

Yoona looked at Yuri and mumbled, “Are you for real?” which Yuri heard perfectly. Then, she cleared and asked, “Yeah, s-sure. We can be friends.”

“Jinjja?” Yuri’s eyes lifted up. Then she suddenly cleared when she felt that she’s being over dramatic. “Sorry. I mean...i-if that’s what you want. W-we could be friends.”

“Yuri, i’m glad that you’re the one who’s asking for us to be friends.” Yoona smiled.  “But why, though? Why do you want us to be friends?”

Yuri pursed her lips to think and looked at the ground. She exhaled and looked back at Yoona.

“It’s j-just that...i felt t-that I want to be there. Always.” Yuri stammered.

Yoona felt overwhelmed with what’s happening right now. First, Yuri saved her, and then brought her home and now, asking her to be friends.

“Yuri...”

“You know what, it’s getting awkward. I better go.” Yuri said she sprinted to the stairs.

“YURI! WAIT!” Yuri halted with her back facing Yoona.

“Come to the festival.” Yoona asked. Yuri turned around and looked at Yoona.

“S-sure. Whatever.” Yuri mumbled and ran downstairs as Yoona watched. Yoona smiled at Yuri’s silliness and entered her apartment.

Yoona could only sighed as she sat down the sofa.Today is beyond her imagination. Finally, she’s friends with Yuri. She never thought that this day finally happened.

‘Kwon Yuri and i are finally friends!’ Yoona felt butterflies on her stomach.

She giggled and covered her face with pillow.

“OH MY GOD! YURI AND I ARE FRIENDS!”  Yoona yelled. “I can’t wait for the festival!”

Yoona sighed as she looked at Yuri’s photo that she took candidly on her phone. She remembered her moments with Yuri earlier. She couldn’t understand Yuri at all. One second she’s arrogant and indifferent, the next second, she caring and sweet and the next second, she’s all playful and mischievous. Yoona sighed again, maybe Kwon Yuri is not just an ordinary girl.

“I hope i can get to know you better, Yuri.” She smiled.
