It was Christmas Eve. The night sky was filled with stars and Christmas lights brighten up the streets. Couples, friends, and families filled the street. Sunny looked out of her window from afar. Where was Jaehwan? He promised he was going to take her out She smiled herself thinking about it. She waited for years to be able to go out on Christmas with Jaehwan.  

" She can't go. " Jaehwan's eyes widen at the doctor. 

" But you told me she could. You said her health was getting better. Sunny's been waiting for these past few months. " The doctor shook his head. 

" She's getting better but it's better if she stays in the hospital. " The doctor walked away and Jaehwan slid his back down the wall sighing. He promised Sunny. He was going to take her outside to see the lights and maybe snow. He got up and made his way to Sunny's room, glumly. 

" Jaehwan, you're here. I can't wait, " she exclaimed excitedly as she looked at him, " I wonder how the lights are going to look. I bet they're really pretty in close up. " Jaehwan gave her a light smile. How was he going to tell her?  

In the end, he couldn't and he decided to take her out. He wrapped her up in layers, making her laugh. 

" I feel like a snowman, " she laughed and waved her hands. He turned his back to her and tell her to get on. She got on happily and hugged his neck gently. 

" Wow. The lights are so beautiful. " Sunny said as she smiled. 

" I know. " Jaehwan smiled and decided to sit on a bench. He put Sunny on the bench first before sitting down.  

" Today's the best day ever. " Sunny smiled widely before setting her head on Jaehwan's shoulder. He pulled her closer. 

" Jaehwan. I don't have a Christmas gift for you, but I made a song. Thank you for being the best boyfriend and for staying with me despite me being sick. My time has a limit, but I'm happy most of it was with you. " Jaehwan lightly smiled before kissing her temple. Sunny started to sing quietly and Jaehwan hugged her tighter. When Sunny finished singing, Jaehwan gave her a kiss. He pulled out a necklace and placed it on her.  

" Today is such a beautiful day, " Sunny said, her eyes watering. Jaehwan smiled and shook his head before wiping her tears. 

" Look at you, crying when you're happy. " Sunny sniffled and smiled. 

" Jaehwan, take me to the place where we first met. " Jaehwan nodded and pecked her nonehwan, take me to the place where we first met. " Jaehwan nodded and pecked her nose. 

" Ok, since it's Christmas. " She got on his back again and he carried her. 

" Remember when we first met? You were wearing a white dress. I remember you weren't shy at all. You tapped on my shoulder and talked to me. You kinda weirded me out. " Jaehwan let out a laugh. 

" Jaehwan, I love you. " He smiled again and nodded. 

" Wow, someone's lovey dovey today. " He felt a slap on his arm before replying correctly. 

" Just kidding, I love you too. " Jaehwan felt Sunny nodded. 

" Promise me you'll be happy. "  

" Jaehwan. " Jaehwan shook away the sad scenarios about the future that popped in his head before nodding strongly.  

" I remember so much. I remember our first date. " Sunny let out a soft um in agreement. 

" You wore a weird costume, making me laugh. Turns out you just left work... " 

Their conversation went on one sidedly. Sunny died that night. 

People walked be Jaehwan and some patted his back while some told him they were sorry for his loss. Jaehwan kept quiet and didn't respond. He just cried and cried. It was his fault Sunny died. He should have listened to the doctor. Sunny wouldn't have died. It was his fault. 

Jaehwan walked out onto the sidewalk. He still felt horrible. He walked to the place where they first met. Sunny died here. She left him here. Jaehwan felt his tears trickling down. Why did she have to go?  

" Jaehwan. I'm sorry. " Jaehwan widen his eyes and ran towards Sunny, hugging her tightly. 

" Where were you? " Sunny hugged him back. 

" I'm sorry. Promise me you'll be happy. " Sunny let go of him before smiling. 

" Sunny! Don't go! " Jaehwan ran after her. 

Jaehwan woke up abruptly. It was just a dream. 

" Promise me you'll be happy.  "  

Jaehwan looked out of his window. It was snowing, yet it was sunny. 

" How can I be happy without you? "
