If anyone had told Kai that he would be dangling by his waist on a bungee cord instead of enjoying fruit smoothies with his girlfriend, he would have laughed in their face.

But, alas, the only laughing that was being done was by the members of his orientation group. A group of people whom he decided was a bunch of sadistic half-wits, who couldn't tell their asses from their elbows.

“Hey Kai,” a guy named Dongjun from his group called to him from the ground. “You’re lucky it was just bungee jumping. It could have been swimming with sharks or something.” Kai wanted to knock the stupid smirk off the guys face. Lucky – yeah, right.

“Kai, I got your favorite!” Kaemi shouted up to him, a worried smile on her face. “Come down already, okay? I miss your face.” Breaking her own rule of minimal PDA, she tossed him a kiss, and Kai cracked a tired smile. Even though she had been having fun with her group (most of whom were guys, much to his chagrin), she’d still been thinking of him. The thought made him very happy despite the situation.

“Alright, son; we’re going to get you down now!” A man called from the launching platform above. Kai let out a relieved sigh -- about time. He could feel himself being hoisted back up towards the platform. The feeling made his stomach churn more than it already had been and he was looking forward to having his feet back on solid ground. He took a few moments to compose himself once he did make it back to the platform. In the steel gated elevator back to ground level, he took some deep breaths, relishing in the increase in oxygen his lungs was allowed now that he wasn’t trying to breathe while hanging nearly upside down at fifty feet in the air.

Yet all the wind was knocked out of him when the lift doors opened and Kaemi bowled right into him, her small frame tackling him in a hug.

“Damn it, you’re never doing anything like that again. I don’t care if your team loses a challenge or whatever.” She fretted, circling him, lifting his arm to make sure no bruises or anything were present. Satisfied that the only thing wrong with him was that he was now exhausted, she gave him a big kiss on the lips.

"Well that was just the welcome back I needed," Kai said. "How about that smoothie?"

“So that’s what they meant by punishments,” Mia said, coming over to the pair. “I am so glad we didn’t lose. I am not a big fan of heights.”

“But Chanyeol is so tall. How will you-” Kaemi rolled her eyes and covered Kai’s mouth to prevent him from teasing Mia (who had turned a lovely shade of crimson) any more.

“You called?” Chanyeol asked, having heard his name. “That was fantastic, Kai.”

“Fantastic for who?” Kai muttered. “I want to switch teams. I’m with a bunch of jerks right now.” Everyone looked towards Kai’s group. There were mostly guys, and a few girls, all of who were pushing each other around playfully, or standing off to the side looking disinterested.

“No athletic skill whatsoever,” Kai complained. “We were lucky to even have completed the race. And I was only picked to do the punishment because I was the only one who claimed to be not afraid of heights. The little poops are all lying; I just know it.” Kaemi, Chanyeol and Mia laughed at Kai’s rant.

About an hour later, Kaemi found herself exploring the garden behind the main building. She had been on her way to take a nap but the quite little area had captured her attention, and so she found herself walking through the flowers and humming softly.

“So I’m not the only one who knows about this place? Dang it.” She turned to see Daesang lounging against a large rock, a pair of ear buds hanging around his neck.

“Oh, Daesang. I wasn’t expecting to see anyone here,” Kaemi said, changing course and coming to sit next to him. “How was you morning?”

“It was okay I guess. My team got third place in the obstacle course, so I guess you could say that I’m feeling accomplished. What about you?”

“My team got second, so that was good. But Kai’s team lost and he had to do the punishment, which was to bungee jump. But then he got stuck for a while and while I was worried, it was still pretty funny.” It was obvious that she was very much in love with Kai because her face lit up when she talked about him. Daesang couldn’t help but find her smile contagious.

“I’m sorry about him, by the way,” Kaemi said suddenly. “He can be a bit blunt and rude but he means well. I don’t want you to think that he doesn’t like you. I mean he’s not particularly fond of you, but he’s going to have to it up because you’re my friend.”

“Thanks,” Daesang replied. “He seems like a guy I could get along with.” If it weren’t for the fact that you were his girlfriend…I know that he’s jealous of me.

“That’s good to hear,” Kaemi sighed. “What were you listening to?” She pointed to the iPod resting in his lap.

“Just a bit of a group you’ve probably never heard of,” He said in a dismissive way. Kaemi, ever up for a challenge, nudged his shoulder.

“Try me,” she said defiantly. “I know lots of idols and stuff. I’m sure I could guess who it is just by listening to the song.” Daesang, finding her protest cute, took her up on that offer.

“If you say so.” He gave her one piece of the ear bud, and took the other for himself. Covering the iPod with his hand so that she couldn’t see, he picked a song. “Ready? You only get one chance to guess.” She nodded and he pressed play. After a few moments, she sighed and rolled her eyes.

“Anybody who is anybody would know that the song is “Rock and Roll” by Led Zeppelin,” She smirked. “What do you take me for, some uncultured swine?” She laughed at his reaction.

“I didn’t peg you as a American classic rock kind of girl,” he said, surprised. She let out another laugh.

“I’m full of surprises,” She smiled. Feeling a yawn coming on, she gave him the ear bud back and stood. “Well, I was on my way to take a nap, so I should probably go back to do that before the next round of activities start. See you later, Dae!”

“Yeah, see you,” he waved after her.

He knew that he was in deep as he watched her walk away. It was pretty clear to him that she was the most interesting, beautiful, smart girl he’d ever met, and he was falling for her more and more. He was determined to be with her, even though he knew she had a boyfriend. It was a challenge.

He liked a good challenge.

A/N: Just a short filler chapter. I wanted to give Daesang some more time now and get to know his character a bit more because as soon as this whole trip thing is over, he is going to take on a way more prominent role, along with another new character. Let me know what you think!
