In 2055, all physical contact was outlawed. Now, the only way to touch someone is virtually. Despite that, some can’t take it. Those who were born before the ban still long for someone to hold them. They go through withdrawls without their fix. In the dead of night, out come the Holders. For a fee, they’ll embrace you tight. For a smaller fee,  they’ll hold your hand and walk with you down a dark alley.

Some are tired of this lie of a life. They are sick of having to jack in to replicate touch. Some want more than strange, shady people touching them. They want to feel physical affection and love. They want to feel again.
