Yumi sat on her desk in the empty classroom, waiting. Today was the day she had to start her extra classes in math, with a tutor her teacher had assigned. Yumi hoped to god that the tutor wasn’t an uptight know-it-all. All her last tutors had been like that and she had hated every second of every hour. Usually she would play pranks and such to get them to quite or simply just stay away and never do as she was told. Yumi expected this time to be no different. Yumi sighed as she swung her legs back and forth. “I’m good in every other class, so why can’t I be good in math too?”

The door to the classroom slowly opened and Yumi turned her head to look at her new tutor. Yumi found him really good looking and before she knew it, she was staring. He was tall and slim with his hair coloured in a dark shade of blond. He had amazing hassle brown eyes, which complemented his angel like face well. The guy caught Yumi staring and just flashed an incredibly cute smile that made Yumi quickly look away. “Hello.” He waved his hand at Yumi. “You must be Yumi. I’m Kevin, your new math tutor.” Kevin walked over to Yumi’s desk and extended his hand for her. Yumi took it and shook it. “Hi.” Yumi gave a small smile before she jumped down of her desk. “So.” Yumi started as she sat down properly at her desk. “What am I learning today?” Kevin raised his eyebrow. “Someone is eager to get started.” Yumi shook her head. “Not really… you are my 5^th tutor this year. I just want to get it over with.” Kevin crossed his arms over his chest. “What a lovely attitude you have.” Yumi just made an indifferent shrug and leaned back in her seat.

Math was Kevin’s best subject and he had got a proud feeling when his homeroom teacher suggested he should start tutoring. The fact that he was tutoring Yumi made him a bit nervous. Yumi was known to drive her tutors crazy and Kevin was afraid he wouldn’t be able to handle all her little pranks. Kevin looked at Yumi, who was staring blankly out of the window. Kevin smiled to himself. “She’s certainly not bad looking.” He studied Yumi from top till toe. He found her golden brown eyes to be her most attractive feature, along with her dark pink lips. It matched perfectly with her long soft curled dark brown hair. Yumi noticed Kevin staring and turned her attention back to him. “So how are we going to do this?” Yumi asked as she started to twirl a strain of her hair between her fingers. Kevin tapped his chin while thinking. “I was thinking that for today, you just tell me stuff about yourself, so I can figure out the best way to teach you.” Yumi tilted her head. “Well that’s a first.” Yumi shifted in her seat to get more comfortable. “What do you want to know?” Kevin shrugged. “Things you like, why you don’t like math, stuff like that.” Yumi nodded. “Well I like dancing and to me math is something created by the devil.” Kevin gave a light chuckle. “Do you know what math stands for?” Kevin asked as he leaned against the desk in front of Yumi’s. Yumi shook her head as she looked up at Kevin. “Mental Abuse To Humans.” Yumi bursted into laughter. “That is brilliant!.. Wait.. I thought you were a math dork. Doesn’t that mean math is like the best thing in your world?” Kevin smiled. “I actually don’t like math, I’m just really good at it.” Yumi nodded as she pursed her lips. “Maybe this won’t be as bad as I thought.”

Kevin watched as Yumi tried her hardest to solve some algebra. “She looks pretty cute when she’s concentrated.” Yumi always gave the tutors a shot before she started to mess with them and this time would be no different. Yumi decided to try Kevin’s patients out by giving up on her next problem almost instantly. “This makes no sense.” Yumi let her pencil fall to the desk. “I don’t get it at all!” Kevin walked next to her and leaned down to she were Yumi got stuck. “What part of it don’t you understand?” Yumi sighed. “All of it.” Kevin nodded. “But the first three is correct, so you must understand some of it.” Yumi shrugged. “We did those in class today and I just remembered how to write it down. I have no idea how to get to sum.” Kevin tapped his chin. “How to do this?... hmm…” Kevin straightened his back. “How about we take a break? You have been working for about an hour now.” Yumi’s face lid up. “Really? I get a break? Sweet!” Kevin tilted his head in confusion. “Didn’t the others give you breaks?” Yumi shook her head. “Nope. They were all work, work and more work.” Kevin’s eyes grew wide. “How do they expect you to concentrate if you have to work for two hours straight?” Yumi gave a faint smile. “There’s a reason why I try and get them to leave.” Kevin ran his fingers through his dark blond hair. “Tell you what. How about you tell me what the other tutors did, so we can avoid that?” Kevin looked down at her with a kind smile. Yumi liked Kevin’s way of thinking and gave him a thumps up. “Deal pretty boy.” Kevin frowned. “Pretty boy? Being a year older than you, I demand you call me sunbae.” Yumi flashed a playful smile that med Kevin look at her an extra time as he felt his cheeks getting hotter. “Okay then, pretty boy sunbae.” Kevin narrowed his eyes. “I think your break is over missy.”

Yumi was pleased with having Kevin as her tutor. He wasn’t anything like the others and he made her two hours of hell, pretty pleasant. Yumi got permission to leave early with a promise to come to Kevin’s house this Friday and do extra studies, she apparently needed them greatly. Yumi was a bit disappointed to have her Friday night taken away but at the same time she didn’t mind spending it with Kevin, though her brother probably wouldn’t be too keen about it. Yumi walked in through the front and threw her school bag in the nearest corner. “Hoon, I’m home!” Yumi yelled, not knowing where in the house he where. Hoon immediately came out from the kitchen with a frown. “We have neighbours you know.” Yumi mumbled a “sorry” as she took off her shoes. “So how was the new tutor?” Hoon leaned against the doorframe crossing his arms over his chest. Yumi flashed a pleased smile. “I think I’ll stick with this one.” Hoon looked like he had just seen a ghost. “Please repeat that.” Yumi chuckled. “He was actually not bad.” Hoon couldn’t hide his joy and embraced Yumi in a tight hug. “That is such a relief! Wait… It’s a guy?” Hoon grabbed Yumi’s shoulders and looked down on her. Yumi just rolled her eyes. “Yes, it’s a guy and a very good looking one. Not at all like the geeky guy I had first. Oh and by the way, I’m going to his house tomorrow night. He said I needed extra lessons.” Hoon frowned. “You are not going to a guy’s house a Friday night.” Yumi rolled her eyes at her protective brother. “He is my tutor, take it easy.” Hoon narrowed his eyes. “He’s also a guy and believe it or not, you are attractive.” Yumi flashed a big grin. “I know.” Hoon just shook his head while chuckling. “As long as you promise me you’ll study hard.” Yumi gave Hoon a big hug. “Promise!”

“You are not wearing that!” Hoon exclaimed as Yumi came out of her room in a tight yellow t-shirt and a pair of really short white shorts. “But it’s so hot outside!” Yumi complained as she made a pouty face full of aegyo, to get her brother to give in. “I don’t care… You are not looking like that when you have to go to that Kevin guy’s house.” Yumi took her brothers arm as she rested her head on his shoulder. “Hoon! Please? Pretty please?” Hoon tried his hardest not to give in. Yumi was a master in getting her will when it came to Hoon, and so far she hadn’t lost. Neither did she this time. “Fine! Just stop making that face and bring a jacket with you.. Geez my sister is a pain.” Yumi clapped her hands together in excitement. “I love you.” Yumi said in a sweet tone as her brother disappeared into the living room. Yumi was now ready for her study date with Kevin.

Kevin was sitting at the dining room table, trying to figure out the best way to tutor Yumi so she wouldn’t lose interest. Kevin ruffled his hair in frustration. “This tutoring stuff is freaking hard!” Kevin leaned back in his chair as he took a sip of juice. The doorbell rang and Kevin quickly got up to answer the door. He took a deep breath before opening the door. Kevin’s eyes went wide as he saw Yumi standing in her simple summer outfit. “Woah.. She looks so hot… Okay Kevin, deep breaths… Just take it easy.” Kevin flashed a warm smile and welcomed Yumi to his house. Yumi stepped in with a smile as she made a small bow. “Nice house. Do you live with your parents?” Yumi asked as she hung her jacket on the rack near the door. Kevin nodded. “Just my mom and older sister though.” Yumi nodded as she looked around. “Are they home?” Kevin shook his head. “My mom is at work and my sister is out for the entire evening.” Yumi suddenly got a bit nervous. “So we are alone? Why am I feeling nervous? It’s no big deal, right?” Kevin placed his hand on Yumi’s back as he gestured for her to walk into the dining room. Yumi felt hot on the spot Kevin’s hand had touched. She stiffly sat down at the table and took a deep breath. “Just breath.”

Kevin was a really good tutor. He made sure Yumi got at least three different ways to solve a problem so she would learn it. It was the first time Yumi actually felt like she understood math, or at least algebra. “Good, very good. You did it perfectly. I didn’t even have to step in this time.” Kevin patted Yumi on the head like she was a little kid. Yumi pushed his hand off. “Ya.. I’m not a little kid.” Kevin took his hand back. “Oh sorry, it wasn’t meant like that.” Yumi made a -no worries- face and smiled. “Should we take a break? You’ve been working hard for almost an hour.” Kevin looked down at Yumi as she nodded. “Do you want to see the rest of the house?” Yumi flashed a breathtaking smile and gave a nod.

Kevin showed her the downstairs first. Yumi was amazed by how pretty Kevin’s home looked. Not at all like the little one floor house her and Hoon lived in. “Who did the decoration in this house?” Yumi asked as she took everything in. “My mom and sister. I don’t really care for stuff like that.” Yumi gave an enthusiastic smile. “Then I guess we are in the same boat.” Kevin gave a small smile as he showed her to the stairs. “That room in there is my sister Deanna’s. If we go in there she’ll rip our hearts out.” Yumi eyes grew wide. “Wauw, drama queen much?” Kevin chuckled. “Big time.” They both laughed. Kevin liked Yumi’s laugh, how warm and joyful it was. Kevin stopped in front of his own room. He was a bit unsure about letting a girl in there and let alone an attractive one. “Uhm this is my room… Don’t mind the mess.” Kevin slowly opened the door and gestured for Yumi to enter. Yumi was amazed of how simple and clean his room was. “Mess? What mess? This is cleaner than a hospital.” Kevin chuckled at her reaction. “I’m guessing you like teddy bears.” Yumi said with an amused tone as she walked over to a corner filled with stuffed toys. “Not even my little cousin on 5 has this many.” Yumi took up a little white bunny and looked at it. Kevin just ran his fingers through his hair. “Why didn’t I move those!? Aish.. Now she thinks I’m totally uncool!” Yumi looked back at Kevin with a huge smile on her lips. “It’s pretty cute you have these when you’re guy. I respect you didn’t try to hide them or anything. It shows you feel good about yourself and the stuff you like.” Kevin sighed in relief. “Well, I kind of got showered with them as a kid. I keep them as memories of my childhood.” Yumi flashed a breathtaking smile as she wiggled with the white bunny, like it was alive. Kevin couldn’t help but laugh. “You are such a cutie.” Yumi immediately stopped her doing and blushed. Kevin bit down on his bottom lip. “Wrong time Kevin.. Wrong time.” Yumi swallowed hard as she fixed her t-shirt. “Should we go back down?” Yumi asked with her flustered face as she walked past Kevin. Kevin just took a deep breath and followed her down.

They didn’t talk about anything else than math for the next hour, until Mrs Woo came home from work. “Kevin dear… Help me with the bags will you!” Mrs Woo yelled from the hallway as she sat a few shopping bags down. Kevin made a -just a second- sign to Yumi and walked out to help his mother. “Take the stuff from the car.” Kevin did as he was told and walked out to empty the car. Yumi just kept sitting at the dining room table and tried to figure her last math problem out. Mrs Woo noticed the stranger sitting in her dining room and stopped what she was doing to greet the young girl. “Oh my.” Mrs Woo said as she walked over to Yumi. “Are you Kevin’s girlfriend?” Yumi’s face flushed pure red as she just looked up at the woman next to her. “Uhm no.. He’s tutoring me in math.” Mrs Woo mad an “oh” while nodding. “So you are the girl he has been talking about since yesterday.” Yumi tilted her head. “He has been talking about me?” Mrs Woo gave a kind smile. “Yes and you are even prettier than first mentioned.” Yumi’s face became even more red, if that was even possible. “I’m his mother. You can call me Mrs Woo.” She extended her hand for Yumi to shake. Yumi did so while presenting herself. Mrs Woo gave her a warm smile as she turned back to all her many shopping bags.

“Sorry it took so long. My mom is a heavy shopper.” Yumi just shook her head. “It’s no problem, but this is.” Yumi pointed at the last problem on the paper Kevin had made for her to practise on. Kevin looked at the problem. “What did you do in problem five?” Yumi explained what she did and Kevin nodded. “You just have to do that again but this time with more numbers.” Yumi frowned. “Show me, please.” Kevin leaned closer as he explained the problem. Yumi couldn’t concentrate when she noticed how close Kevin was. She started staring. “Are you even listening?” Kevin asked with a stern tone. Yumi made an apologetic look as she turned her full attention to the paper. Kevin couldn’t help but smile a little. “So she’s staring at me huh?”

Yumi sighed in relief as her and Kevin was finally done for the day. “I’m totally bumped out.” Yumi said as she leaned back in her chair. Kevin leaned back as well. “Well you did great today. You not at all as bad as you teacher said.” Yumi looked over at Kevin. “How bad did she say I was?” Kevin gave her a look which said it all. Yumi frowned. “Well it’s a good thing I’m getting better then.” Kevin nodded. “So should we start on something new next week or do you want to get some more training?” Yumi shrugged as she looked to the sealing. “You decide.” Kevin tapped his chin. “I think you could use a bit more training.” Yumi just nodded. “Training it is then.” Kevin couldn’t help but stare as Yumi ran her fingers through her soft curled hair. It made her look even more attractive to him. For some reason he felt like hugging her, telling her she did well in the process. Kevin reached his hand out and touched a strain of Yumi’s hair. Yumi froze as she felt Kevin’s fingers close to her neck. “You have really pretty hair Yumi.” Yumi didn’t know what to do and just looked down while blushing like crazy. “I get that a lot.” Kevin put his right hand under Yumi’s chin so she would face him. “And beautiful eyes.” Yumi was screaming on the inside but was like a statue on the outside. “Wh-what? Yumi do something! What is this feeling?” Kevin moved his hand and stood up. “Would you like to stay for dinner?”
