ALONE
Misunderstood
For the next few days neither Tiffany nor Yuri spoke to each other. Everyone at the school knew that their goddesses had a fight. One set of students in particular were happy about the turn of events. Now that Tiffany was gone, Yuri could return to paying attention to them. All was well with the world, except for Tiffany. One of those afternoons later she discovered another note in her locker.
“We told you b*tch. If you ever come near her again next time it’s going to be worse.”
Tiffany crumpled up the note. It didn’t matter now. Whoever was doing this got what they wanted. She clearly broke the ties with Yuri. Now she only wished that she could return to her normal life. Closing the locker she went straight home.
Another week passed and the two still weren’t talking to each other. Unlike what their classmates thought, Yuri was in a rut. She didn’t smile like she used to and always kept conversations brief and to the point only when she was addressed. It was like she lost the spark of life in her. One Friday after class was over a girl approached Yuri at her locker.
“Yuri?”
“Yes what is it,” said Yuri.
“It’s…it’s about Tiffany…”
Yuri immediately turned around completely to face the girl. “What about her,” she asked.
“You see the school is divided. There are people that love Tiffany, kind of like how people love you, and there are those who hate her for stealing you away from them. Ever since you’ve been around Tiffany you’ve been paying less attention to people in general. While you were focusing so much on Tiffany…I think you didn’t notice that people were holding great animosity towards her. When you left to help the swim team that week…they took it out on her. I only saw parts of it but she was getting bullied pretty badly. One of her outbursts even landed her detention. I heard about the notes too but those have been going on for a long time. At first, I wasn’t going to say anything. I thought that you would have known about this. I thought that the only thing you wanted was to be in the limelight but I can see I was wrong. You look like your world just crumbled down on you. You didn’t know about this did you Yuri?”
It was hard for Yuri to swallow after she heard what this girl just told her. All these months, Tiffany had slowly been ridiculed. She didn’t even notice because she was too busy thinking about herself. She had to speak to Tiffany, to hear the truth from her own mouth. She placed a hand on the girl’s shoulder and said, “Thank you. I didn’t know. I’m gonna do my best to correct this problem. What’s your name?”
“Yuki”
“Thank you Yuki. I’ll remember you for helping me out. I owe you one,” said Yuri with a genuine smile. She lightly squeezed Yuki’s shoulder and dashed off to Tiffany’s home.
