“Crown Princess….I got what you wanted….” Sungmin said as she knocked on the door of the Princess’s room. Jaeyoung immediately opened the door.

“Come in Sungmin-ah.”

When Sungmin entered, she removed the cloak she used to cover her head and handed the history books to Jaeyoung.

“How were you able to get these?” Jaeyoung asked

“The royal adviser of Prince Yunkyo helped me by borrowing them.” Sungmin answered

“Thank you so much. I’ll start reading so I can write down what I learned onto my scrolls.”

“Don’t you think you’ll get in trouble by doing this? Only men should be studying.”

“I want to study these books since I need to have enough knowledge when I become queen. I can help my future husband.”

“You’re so wise my dear Crown Princess.” Sungmin smiled

“How come you only said Prince Yunkyo? Isn’t he the Crown Prince since he will be the heir to the throne?” Jaeyoung asked while writing on her scroll

“Prince Yunho and Prince Seunghyun are going to meet your parents today. They will be answering a question which can help your parents decide on who they choose as the throne king.”

“Will whoever be picked…….become my husband?” Jaeyoung asked getting a little worried since she chose Yunkyo over Seunghyun

“Ne Crown Princess.”

*FLASHBACK*

Crown Princess Jaeyoung and her servant Sungmin were walking around the palace grounds last night and someone suddenly pulled the princess. Her cloak was pulled off and she got surprised to see Prince Seunghyun smirking at her. He suddenly touched her face.

“What is it that you want?” the Jaeyoung said as she slapped Seunghyun’s hand from her face

“I just want to see and touch my future wife’s face.” Seunghyun said as he leaned closer to the princess’s face

“My apologies Prince Seunghyun but you shouldn’t go close to the Crown Princess like that.” Sungmin said as she gently pulled the Princess protecting her

“Why are you interrupting? You should call me Crown Prince Seunghyun.” Seunghyun said as he glared at them

“Enough cousin.” Yunho said as he pulled Seunghyun and gestured Jaeyoung and Sungmin to leave

*FLASHBACK END*

“Crown Princess, I’ll be running an errand. Please stay safe here in your room until I come back.” Sungmin said as she stood up

“Yes. You are excused.” Jaeyoung said as Sungmin bowed and left the room. As Sungmin went out, she didn’t notice Prince Seunghyun who was hiding near the princess’s room. He had a plan of entering. The princess heard a knock thinking it was Sungmin.

“Come in.” Jaeyoung said while writing on the scroll

“So you do study history books in secret.” Prince Seunghyun said as he closed the door of the Princess’s room

“Who gave you permission to enter my room? Get out this instant!” Jaeyoung said as she piled up her books

“You shouldn’t be studying these books. All the knowledge you can get will come from me when I become your husband.” Seunghyun said with a grin

“How are you sure of that? I can study if I want to.” Jaeyoung said as she continued writing but Seunghyun suddenly pulled the scroll from her

“Give it back!”

“Kiss me first my Crown Princess.” Seunghyun said as he came near her and held her hand

“Let go of me!”

“Let’s not be naughty.” Seunghyun said he held the princess’s cheek but before he could even kiss her, someone pulled him away and threw him at the other side of the room. It was Prince Yunkyo.

“How dare you interfere?!” Seunghyun screamed

“How do you even have the nerve to harm the Crown Princess? Is this how you show respect to her?” Yunkyo said as he stared at his cousin

“I have no time for this. I should be preparing to meet the Kim family leader.” Seunghyun said as he left the room as if he didn’t do anything wrong

“Did he hurt you Crown Princess?” Yunkyo said as he gently held Jaeyoung’s shoulder

“He wanted to.” Jaeyoung said as she looked down at her crumpled scroll

“You’re learning history?” Yunkyo asked as he picked up the scroll. Jaeyoung just nodded

“You should continue. Don’t let anyone stop you.” Yunkyo said as he laid the scroll on the Princess’s desk and smiled at her

“Thank you Prince Yunkyo.” Jaeyoung said as she bowed

“I need to go now. I have to meet your family leader.” Yunkyo said as he got up

“Give your best answer. Make sure you think about your answer before you speak. Those are my parents.” Jaeyoung said as she held Yunkyo’s arm before he left. Yunkyo turned around and bowed to her as he left the room.

“I hope you become the throne king.” Jaeyoung said when she was left alone in her room

Meanwhile, Prince Yunkyo was already near the quarters of the Kim family leader.

“Are you ready your highness?” Kyuhyun asked

“Yes I am. I’m ready to face the Kim family leader and his wife.” Yunkyo said with a confident expression

“They may be your future in-laws so please answer wisely your highness.” Kyuhyun said as he followed Yunkyo to the front of the room. Yunkyo then saw his cousin coming near him.

“Let’s enter together.” Seunghyun said with a smirk

“Let’s do our best, cousin.” Yunkyo said as he bowed. They then entered the quarters. Upon their entrance they bowed to the Kim family leader and the wife.

“It’s great to see two fine gentlemen here today. My wife and I must choose who should be the rightful son-in-law for us. This may also be a choice for who may be the next heir to the throne. The Queen Dowager gets to choose the heir am I right?” the Kim family leader said

“Yes your highness.” Yunkyo and Seunghyun answered

“I’ll ask the question now. How important is the entire Choseon to you and what can you compare it with to show how valuable it is?”

“You answer first Prince Seunghyun.” The wife of the family leader said as she smiled

“Yes your highness.” Seunghyun said as he smirked

“The entire Choseon is important to me for it is the land where I stay. It is what keeps me alive and going. I compare Choseon to gold and treasures. It is the most valuable and it is important to live with riches. That is my answer.” Seunghyun said arrogantly

“How about you Prince Yunkyo?” The family leader said

“For me, Choseon is the most valuable since it is like the air I breathe. It is very valuable to me and I can’t live without it. I compare it to love. Love is really important and valuable to us all and we keep it deep in our hearts. With love, we create a bond with others. With our parents who have brought us to this world and a special someone who gives love to you and stands by your side as your lover. That is my answer.” Yunkyo said with a straight face

At that moment, the Kim family leader made a decision with his wife. Suddenly, the Queen Dowager’s royal adviser arrived with the scroll.

“I came because of the order of her highness, Queen Dowager.” The royal adviser said

“What has she sent you for?” The Kim family leader asked

“This scroll has her choice of whom she has chosen. However, the Queen said that the Kim family leader should say his decision first your highness.”

The wife of the Kim family leader whispered her decision to her husband and she smiled at Prince Seunghyun.

“The Prince I would choose for the throne and son-in-law is……..”
