IN THE CHOSEON DYNASTY

“Yah! Lee Yunkyo! Slow down a bit and wait for me.” The Crown Princess screamed to get the attention of the Crown Prince she was horse racing with

“Slow poke! I won again.” Yunkyo said as he stopped his horse. The Crown Princess let her horse walk since it was tired

“I’m sorry I let you run that fast. I became competitive again.” The beauty then went down the horse to caress its head. She noticed something wrong and found a sharp nail at the back hoof of her horse. She felt sad since it was bleeding.

“I’ll ask the person in charge of the stable to cure that.” The beauty said as she pulled the horse with her to the stable

“Kim Jaeyoung! Did you give up?” Prince Yunkyo asked as he approached the stable while pulling his horse

“Thanks to you my horse is injured.” The Princess said bitterly

“Are you saying that it is my fault?” The Prince came closer to the Princess but he got ignored

“Excuse me Sir; can you cure the hoof of my horse? It’s bleeding.”

“Oh! Your highness, you’ve been riding the horses again with Crown Prince Yunkyo.” The stable keep said as he bowed

“Please care for my horse.” The Princess said as she made her horse enter the stable

“Yes your highness.”

“Thank you Yesung.”

“Yesung, make sure you groom my horse.” The Prince then interrupted Yesung as he was going to cure the injured horse

“He can do that after he heals my injured horse.” The Princess said as she let Yesung continue his work

“I didn’t tell him to do it now.” Yunkyo said as he grinned at Jaeyoung

“Hmph!” Jaeyoung turned her back at him and paid attention to her horse

“There. The wound is clean. I’ll just put medicine on it for the next few days.” Yesung said as he finished treating the horse

“Thank you once again.” The Princess said as she petted her horse and left the stable

“I should get going too Yesung.” Yunkyo said as he smiled and followed the Princess

Jaeyoung went to a nearby pond and enjoyed breathing the fresh air. She even played with a butterfly that was fluttering near some flowers. Prince Yunkyo smirked as he came behind the Princess.

“Are you angry that you lost again?” The Prince teased

“Why would I be angry about such a little thing?” The Princess said as she frowned

“Don’t frown even though you’re a sore loser. You’re lovelier when you smile.” The Prince said as he pulled the Princess to look at him. Jaeyoung turned her back at Yunkyo and went on her way around the garden. Yunkyo was going to pick a flower so he could give it to the beauty but he suddenly got stopped.

“Andwae!” Jaeyoung said as she held the hands of Yunkyo to stop him from picking the flower

“Wae?”

“I can just admire the flowers around this place. Don’t pick it. It’s going to die if you do.”

“Oh….Why do you love strolling around here?” Yunkyo asked as he followed Jaeyoung

“I feel at peace when I walk around here.” Jaeyoung suddenly smiled to see a cherry blossom tree. She sat under it so she could rest

“Why did you sit there?” The Prince asked as he looked down at her

“If you don’t enjoy being here, then leave.” The beauty then looked away

“Fine.” The Prince then went on his way but he looked back at the Princess as she looked lonely pulling her knees near her as she rested her chin on her arm. He felt bad leaving her alone so he went back to her. The Princess noticed his presence but she looked away.

“I thought you said you wanted to leave?”

“You looked lonely.”

“I’m not lonely. I was actually happy when you were going to leave me here.”

“Why do you act so bitter towards me?”

“I’m not easy to get! You were the Prince chosen for me to marry but I don’t even think you’re that suitable for me.”

“How can I prove it to you?” Yunkyo said as he sat beside the Princess. Jaeyoung looked at him but pouted. She didn’t answer.

“You’re angry because we’re still young and you’re not ready. Aren’t you?” Yunkyo asked

“Ne. I’m not ready. I’m sorry.” The Princess said as her eyes got teary

“Don’t cry. I’m not ready either. I’m sorry if I may seem annoying to you at times but I’d like to prove to you that I can be the best prince suitable for you.” Yunkyo said as he wiped her tears

“You’re going to prove it?”

“Ne. I…..I’ve fallen for you Crown Princess.” Yunkyo said as he looked at her

“You……” The beauty was surprised at the confession

“Please learn to love me back.”

“I think……I think I love you too….” The Princess said as she looked down. Yunkyo held her chin and made her look up

“Can I kiss you Crown Princess?” Yunkyo asked. The beauty nodded and closed her eyes. The Crown Prince then went closer to her as he claimed her lips. The kiss was gentle and it was the first for both of them. When they ended the kiss, they looked at each other in the eyes.

“Crown Prince…..” Jaeyoung said softly

“We should get going. The king might be looking for us. We can get punished if we don’t return on time.” Yunkyo said as he got up. He helped the Princess get up and they went on their way. He didn’t hold her hand and just lead the way.

“Wait for me.” Jaeyoung said as she got closer to the Prince and held his hand. Yunkyo got surprised with the contact and he stared at Jaeyoung.

“Ummmm….”

“Hurry. Let’s go. They might have the soldiers search for us.”

“Your hand is so soft……” Yunkyo said as they were walking

The Crown Princess just blushed as they let go of each other’s hand when they were near the palace.
