THE ABANDONED BOY NEXT DOOR
"Sunhwa noona... Who lives there?" Little Jongup asked, tightening his grip on her hand. The two where walking home from Jongup's kindergarten school, Sunhwa, as the responsible older sister, picking him up by foot.
"Shh... Jongup, it is not nice to point," Sunhwa hushed her lovely younger brother, not wanting to bring fear into his everyday smile. "Don't mind them, okay? It's not our buisness, baby Up."
"But... I want to know, Sunhwa noona."
Not able to resist her little brother's sad face, she took a deep breath, not ready to ruin his perfect view of the world. "I'll explain later as you get older. It is not the time, Jongup. I'm sorry."
There are things that six year olds are supposed to know, and there are some things they're not meant to know at the time being.
The presence of proverty, the pitiful sight of being abandoned, war, death. These are good examples of things Sunhwa does not want to introduce to her cheerful younger brother. His life was perfect. There wasn't much error in it and his life was full of fun, cheerfulness, playing, etc. But what if Jongup wants to know about it? About what is happening to his neighbor next door?
He has been hearing an awful lot noises and fighting that Sunhwa does her best to cover his eyes, but he wants to know. He wants to know what Sunhwa and Hyosung are talking about the boy in that house next door. He wants to know.
And he needs to know.
Sunhwa, Hyosung, Zinger, and Jieun can't cover him up from the flaws in the world forever, right? Because when he hits his teenage years, mood swings will occur, and sooner or later, he'll have to know all the secrets behind his perfect childhood life and what it has been covering up, right?
Foreword
MOON JONGUP - He's a very cheerful kind of guy. He's nice and polite and people treat him the same way as well. Well, maybe an exception of a handful of jealous boys in his school, but that's it. He's always protected by his sister, Moon Sunhwa and her three other friends that're his noonas as well.
CHOI JUNHONG - He's the boy next door. He's closed and can't open up to anyone, but he's polite in public. He rarely talks and doesn't have a social life. If you're wondering about school - he doesn't go to school. He hides a very pitiful secret but if anyone gets close enough, he'll reveal it, but no one is even close.
BANG YONGGUK, KIM HIMCHAN, JUNG DAEHYUN, YOO YOUNGJAE - These four boys are Jongup's best friends. They're very outgoing and friendly to each other that they form a 'family' amongst the five of them.
