Epilogue
Walls"Hello, Kai." The soft voice startled him, and though he didn't recognize it, he knew immediately who it must be. Turning slowly, he came face to face with Taemin, for the first time in flesh and blood. "Are you... is this real?" Kai whispered, and Taemin smiled, tears falling from his eyes as he nodded. "I think so."
Kai stepped forward slowly, fingers reaching out to brush over Taemin's cheek. Soft skin met his fingertips and Kai's heart beat faster as he realized that though inadvertantly, he had done it... he had freed Taemin. The family portrait was the key, and by removing it... "You're free," Kai whispered, hand still on Taemin's cheek. The other boy nodded and stepped forward to wrap his arms solidly around Kai, his face buried in the taller boy's chest.
"You saved me." Taemin tilted his face up to Kai's to look at him. "You truly saved me." And he kissed Kai, a lingering, passionate kiss that told Kai what he truly felt before he even whispered it. "I love you too, Kai."
Kai had the big pleasure of introducing his mom and Kevin to Taemin when they came downstairs for breakfast. His mom's shocked face said everything, but Kevin surprisingly took it all in stride. Keeping with his plans to go to Korea, Kai bought a second ticket...
Time to start over new with Taemin.
