Chapter Eight
WallsKai began packing that night. His mom had been surprised at his request, but she had readily agreed... Kai had the distinct feeling that she still didn't believe him about Taemin and thought that he truly just wanted to go home. Kai hated to admit it, but if Taemin were no longer going to speak to him, he couldn't see a reason to stay in Korea. And so by 7AM the following morning, Kai's bags were packed and his plane ticket bought.
He sat at the breakfast bar, waiting for his mom to wake up. He hadn't been able to sleep all night, and now simply sat with a cup of coffee and a breakfast muffin, staring at the plate in a zombie like state.
He was so torn between leaving and staying, that finally he stood and made his way into the library to stare at the old Lee portrait again. He knew it was a bit lame, but it was the only way he could see Taemin now. "I want to talk to you." He whispered, settling down onto the arm of the old padded chair. "I just... I want to see you."
"Why can't you understand that it's too late?" He said, louder this time, and didn't realize he had begun to cry. He stood, fists clenched at his sides. "You can't just run when it gets hard to deal with, Taemin! I said I would find a way!"
Still no answer, not that Kai expected there to be. He felt a flash of anger in him but it quickly subsided back into the deep sadness he had been feeling for the last week, and he sank back into the chair. "I said I would find a way," he
