Chapter 4

Mirotic

@Giraffrey - There wasn't much action in that chapter I didn't think hehe~ But if you saw it and liked it, that is absolutely fine by me :D And yeah, there were a few people who noticed the similarities between this and Dangerous Love and i did mention in the blurb that part of the story would be like it. But don't worry, this was the last chapter that semi-linked to it. It'll get better from here.

@DbSkHatter - Sup blondie? XD Don't feel too bad for Changmin, believe me this boy gets his fair share of action in every meaning of the word later on in the story keke~ But yes, it was like Dangerous Love, alot, I will admit it, but oh well, it won't be after this chapter. And now I reallllllyyyyyyyyyyy wanna watch that again, hmph. And yes, let's all point fingers at Junsu for throwing Changmin in the line of danger XD

@rxnkim - I would still actually wander around a maze late at night, I reckon it'd be awesome :D perhaps I'm crazy haha~ And I like the play on words, thanks. I've done it for another story as well, I used 'Darkness Eyes', it's always fun to do that

@emo_bear - Awesome! It's meant to be freaky, freakishly awesome, and I hope I actually live up to that expectation. Apologies for not updating sooner, but I've got an extra long chapter to make up for it :D And personal opinions are always welcome, thanks for thinking about my story like that.

@JessicaIcePrincess - Yay! New reader! Thank you for the fact you love this fanfic, I hope that I can deliver an overall good fic and I love mystery fics, so I just HAD to write one. Updates will hopefully be more frequent.

Right, first of all I apologise so so SO much for not updating sooner, but I had a folio and a performance in one week, school exams the next week and in the midst of all this my internet crapped itself and I didn't have any internet for almost three weeks. Mianhae~ So to make up for it, here is a nice long update. It's the last chapter that will have any sort of relevance to Dangerous Love and the fun will REALLY begin from the next chapter onwards :D

Enjoy guys! <3

Chapter Four

Junsu lay awake in bed that night tossing and turning as he wondered whether he had done the right thing by sending Changmin out. Although he wasn’t a person to over-think things he couldn’t help but wonder if anything had gone wrong. He had avoided everyone’s eyes and questions at the dinner table as they also pondered where their sarcastic magnae had gone. Junsu hadn’t had much of an appetite to begin with and merely pushed around the food on his plate but as he felt Yunho’s incriminating stare on him, he lost his appetite entirely and left the room.

As he had gone to walk up the corridor leading to their temporary – or at least temporary in his mind – rooms, Junsu heard a door shut and looked up to see Eun Ra entering the house, a baseball bat in her hand. He leant against the wall of the corridor, watching as Eun Ra placed the bat near the door and swept her hair out of her face before taking a deep breath and heading for the kitchen. It was at this point Junsu had shoved himself away from the wall.

“Did you find Changmin?” Junsu asked walking toward her. Eun Ra flinched as she suddenly realised he’d been watching her.

“Uhh well, no, I didn’t.” She met his gaze reluctantly and kept heading toward the kitchen.

“Did you take a torch with you? It’s pretty dark out there; you wouldn’t have been able to see him.” Junsu attempted casual small talk as he intercepted her, effectively forcing her to stop walking.

“I didn’t take one, no, but I will go out tomorrow and look for him again.” Eun Ra attempted to move around Junsu but he stepped to the side, blocking her again.

“But you took a baseball bat? What was that for?” He stared at her as though determined he could force the answers out of Eun Ra just by looking at her.

She returned his gaze levelly and calmly said, “I’m just one small girl walking through a forest at night, and you don’t think anything bad could happen to me?” Eun Ra made to step round him again.

“I could’ve gone with you if you were that worried.” He blocked her way again.

“I’ve lived here for years, I can handle myself.” She shot back and pushed him aside.

“Then why the baseball bat?” Junsu grabbed her by the arm as she made to walk past and the two glared at each other as they stood side by side.

“What have you got against me?” Eun Ra whispered angrily.

“I don’t trust you.”

“I helped you.”

“That’s what you say.”

“And you don’t believe me?”

“I don’t believe people who attack me and my brothers.”

“You’re not family.”

“We’re as good as.”

“You are not family.”

“Oh and how would you know that, you don’t know anything about us?”

“You’re just another K-pop group proclaiming that you’re family. Bonds can be broken, you just watch.”

“’Another K-pop group’” Junsu raised his eyebrows. “Where has this sudden knowledge come from?”

Eun Ra paused for a moment, clearly realising she’d let Junsu confuse her into letting down her guard. She her lips and ripped her arm from Junsu’s grasp.

“Your best option right now would be to trust me.”

“I’ll pass on the offer.” Junsu had muttered as she wandered off.

Now as he lay in bed wide awake, Junsu worried that Changmin certainly wasn’t okay. He didn’t trust Eun Ra at all and was sure that she hadn’t entirely told him the truth that evening. Clambering out of bed, Junsu decided that he would take it upon himself to go and find Changmin, it was his fault that the youngest member was out there anyway.

Being careful not to disturb Micky who was sleeping in the same room Junsu began searching for a way to get out. There was one long window in the room that opened on the top half but there was no way he could fit through there. Junsu instead crept out of the room making sure not to make any noise as he moved down the corridor. The most logical option for him was to try the door but upon entering the living room space he saw Eun Ra asleep on the couch. Cursing under his breath, Junsu walked carefully around her to the door and gently tried to turn it. To his frustration, it was locked. That was to be expected of course but nevertheless Junsu couldn’t help but feel only slightly defeated. He looked around him and noticed the baseball bat he’d seen Eun Ra return with earlier. He lifted it up in one hand, feeling the heaviness of it before swinging it experimentally through the air wondering what sort of injury it could make.

“What are you doing?”

The unexpected voice made Junsu fumble with the baseball bat, almost dropping it on the ground. Thankfully he caught it before realising the voice he heard hadn’t been Eun Ra’s. He glanced up to see Micky standing a few metres in front of him, his face half in shadow, the other lit by the moon and revealing his confused expression.

“How did you know I was awake?” Junsu whispered placing the baseball bat back against the wall.

“I wasn’t asleep to begin with.” Micky shrugged. “Why are you still up, you haven’t stopped thinking since you woke up yesterday morning.”

“I’ve done something I shouldn’t have.” Junsu admitted.

“What now?”

“Now? You make it sound like I do these things often Yoochun.”

“Well, you do.”

Junsu frowned for a second. “I’ll give you that one.”

“So what have you done now?”

“I…encouraged Changmin to go find help.”

Micky’s eyebrows disappeared under his fringe and his eyes looked as though they belonged to a fish. “You did what?!”

Junsu hushed him before gesturing for Micky to follow him back to their room so as not to wake Eun Ra; he’d barely even closed the door before Micky let loose.

“You’ve had us worrying for the past few hours because Changmin, a person who never usually gets lost, goes missing for the second time in just as many days and you’re the one to blame for it?! Why didn’t you just go yourself? Or at least go with him? God knows where he could be right now, dead in a ditch for all you know. We don’t know this place at all and all because you’re suspicious you’ve gone and sent Changmin out because you don’t want to be out there yourself.”

Junsu stayed quiet for a moment, listening to Micky’s rage before allowing a moment of silence.

“Can I say something here? Possibly?” He asked curiously.

“Unless you’re apologising and offering to run straight out after Changmin I’d say no.”

“Just hear me out. Do you not think anything suspicious of Eun Ra?”

“Oh, Junsu we went through this already.”

“Not entirely.” Junsu went to pacing around the room. “What exactly happened between you and Eun Ra in the maze?”

“I’ve already said that too!” Micky let his hands slap down to his sides. “I was looking for you guys, she helped me, and I fell unconscious. That’s all there is to it.”

“More detail.”

“What?” Micky looked at Junsu quizzically.

“More detail. Tell me everything that happened. Every detail.”

“What are you? A police investigator?” Micky sat down on the edge of the bed and leant his elbows on his knees. “I lost you guys – I don’t even know how – and then it took me a while to go around the maze, I don’t even know where I ended up but I saw Eun Ra running out from a path, and she looked like she was thinking or…checking for something or…I don’t know.” Micky rubbed his head.

“More detail.”

“God…” Micky shook his head. “Uhmmm, when I ran into her, she said that she’d been gardening –”

“And let me guess, you asked, “Dressed like that?”

“Something along the lines of that I guess.”

“Then what?”

“Well, I noticed that she was wearing Jaejoong’s jacket, I didn’t mention it at the time, but it did seem odd…”

“Did she say you couldn’t go down a path?”

“Yeah, she stopped me from walking down where she had just come from.”

“Did she tell you why?”

“No, she just said not to.”

“And you listened…” Junsu nodded to himself. “And then what happened?”

“I…noticed a rake leaning against one of the hedges and I handed it back to her and –”

“Did she say anything?”

“What are you so determined to find out?” Micky stood up again and approached Junsu.

“I’m onto a theory here, just continue.”

Micky eyed him before speaking again. “We just made small talk, but at the end I said she might need the rake, and she agreed to that and then…oh yeah, I made a joke and told her not to let anything get away from her and I think I heard her say ‘Oh, I won’t’ but I out pretty quickly after that.”

“Right.” Junsu clicked his fingers. “There. That. It links.”

Micky heaved an inaudible sigh. “Why?”

“Okay, I know I don’t usually think of anything of any I guess, great intelligence but I’ve been figuring something out. You see…”

-----

Aside from the two members who were deep in discussion, another was also awake. Yunho lay staring at the ceiling above him, unable to rest both his thoughts and his emotions, it was odd but not even his schedules confused him this much. He knew that Changmin’s disappearance had something to do with Junsu, they hadn’t stopped talking for the whole day, and then there was that one moment where he heard the door slam, if only he had looked up a few seconds earlier. Being the chivalrous person that he was, he would’ve been more than happy to accompany Eun Ra to go and find him but she had left before he could even say a word.

Yunho sighed as he rolled onto his side, sliding one arm under his pillow to prop his head up. He looked at the person sleeping soundly across from him with mixed feelings. It wasn’t usual for him to feel a twinge of jealousy toward Jaejoong, but he couldn’t help it in this situation; it was clear that there was something between him and Eun Ra, but what exactly, Yunho couldn’t be sure.

It was this uncertainty that threw him; he didn’t mind having the title of leader in the group but sometimes Jaejoong’s title of being a flirt made him feel as though he was out of the spotlight, a stupid feeling to have between such a strong friendship but nevertheless it had irked Yunho at dinner when Jaejoong had been the first one to jump up in an attempt to follow Eun Ra. Yunho had intervened, covering his slight jealousy by stating Eun Ra would know how to search the area.

Now as he lay there staring at Jaejoong he kept trying to bite back his jealousy. None of it was for Eun Ra, he legitimately believed she was a polite girl, she was sweet to help them and he felt bad for snapping at her first in the maze, she’d be a nice girl to hang around with and –

Yunho rolled over onto his back again and slapped a hand to his forehead, shaking his head slightly before swinging his long legs out of bed, not bothering to grab his shirt. He intended to go and get another drink of water to help his throat but as he walked down the corridor he heard muffled voices behind one of the doors. Pressing his ear to the door, Yunho overheard Junsu and Micky in a somewhat serious conversation.

“…figuring something out. You see, I reckon Eun Ra had a method to how she kidnapped us –”

“None of us here are kids apart from you and Changmin.”

“Thanks for the compliment Micky. Anyway, that’s why I’ve been thinking for so long, I’ve been trying to match up her actions with each of us and a few other things.”

“Are you going to elaborate? ‘Cos I’m seriously not understanding you.”

“She knows us; it’s as simple as that. I tricked her into revealing it at dinner before. She doesn’t really trust me now but that’s the least of my problems.”

“Soooooo, this theory? You’ve not said anything yet.”

At this point Yunho walked in the room much to Junsu’s surprise. “I wanna hear it too.”

“Uhh, alright then.” Junsu glanced between the two pairs of eyes now staring at him. “Right, we all know Changmin is friendly, Yoochun is perceptive, I’m blunt and Yunho…well, you and Jaejoong seem to war for the alpha male spot.”

“We do not.” Yunho decided against speaking what he felt at the current moment.

“You do. But that is beside the point. Eun Ra met Changmin first yes? I talked to him and he said that she was really nice toward him and as such he decided to trust her, he then lost sight of Eun Ra and ended up falling down a hill; convinced it was his own doing. Conclusion? Changmin thinks Eun Ra is a friend because he doesn’t know better.”

“Well that’s harsh.” Micky muttered as Yunho nodded.

“Hear me out. You think a lot about…everything Micky and so, Eun Ra had to dispose of you in a more subtle way, appealing to the side of you that would think things through properly before making any move. As such, you distracted yourself by being so logical and now are unsure how to address the situation because you have no solid knowledge to mull over. Now me, I’m stubborn and – well, you guys didn’t have to agree so quickly – of course was not about to let myself to be told to do something different to what I wanted, so Eun Ra ran the risk of making one person be suspicious. As for you Yunho, you are the most courteous and understanding, and yet you and Jae get equal spotlight. As such, Eun Ra appealed to your kinder nature, but here is where her ulterior motive comes in. She already went for Jaejoong and got under his skin, so to speak, convincing him utterly and completely of her innocence and appealing to his ‘playboy’ side,” Junsu exaggerated the term with his fingers. “In doing so, he now can’t question her through his feelings. You,” Junsu pointed to Yunho. “Then ran into her and were your usual polite self however, you saw Jaejoong first and also noticed she had his jacket, which got you thinking about what happened. Even so, you can’t convince yourself to be suspicious of her because you’re too kind and you don’t want to think the worst of anyone. In other words, you’re jealous of Jaejoong but not Eun Ra.” Junsu finally stopped speaking and proudly looked at his small audience.

“You know, every once in a while, you crack on to something remarkable.” Micky clapped his hand on Junsu’s shoulder.

“Seriously?” The three of them looked up to see Jaejoong push himself away from the door, rubbing his bare arm where he’d been leaning. “Yunho are you jealous of me?”

Yunho stared up at Jaejoong from where he was sitting, sure Jaejoong might be older but as a respectful leader Yunho reserved his feelings.

“Not at all, yeah I think she’s a great girl but it’s always funny to watch you be around a girl, I wouldn’t take that fun away from you.” He was thankful that he good enough acting skills to manage a convincing smile. In turn, Jaejoong smiled at him.

“I’m not that hopeless.”

“So it’s decided, we’re getting out of here tomorrow?” Junsu interrupted. Three heads turned to him.

“How did you come to that conclusion?” Jaejoong asked.

“Did I not just explain to you all how odd this girl is?” Junsu looked around at them all as though they had suffered temporary memory loss. “That was my way of saying ‘let’s leave, find Changmin and get away from here’”. His expectations began to drop as Jaejoong shook his head and began wandering back to his room, Yunho following suit but stopping in front of Junsu on his way out. He shrugged before saying,

“Nice try. The smartest thing for us to do now would be to wait until morning and ask Eun Ra if we can go search, if she says no then we have to trust that she knows what to do.” With that he left the room. Junsu threw his hands up in the air, unsure of what to do and stood there pouting, his forehead scrunched up in confusion.

“I’ll go with you.” Micky said from behind him. Junsu spun round to see Micky looking at him with a thoughtful expression. “You’re right, I over-think things too much. So I’ll go with you and not think, if you believe you’re right then I’ll put my trust in you.”

Junsu felt a swell of friendship in his heart. “We’ll go tomorrow night.”

Little to their knowledge, someone further down the hall had heard every single word.

-----

Both Junsu and Micky got very little sleep for the remainder of that night as they spent a large amount of time devising when would be the best time to escape and how to get far enough away without being spotted and yet when they got up in the morning, they did indeed attempt to be as cheery as the other two.

Yunho felt no feelings of jealousy toward Jaejoong this morning and followed through on his polite offer to Eun Ra to join the search from Changmin; an offer she returned with an equally polite attitude.

As soon as she had left the house, Junsu continued his planning, analysing the door that continually stayed locked whilst Micky tried to determine their location by looking out the also locked windows. This behaviour continued until Yunho became sick of them and forced a shout to make them stop.

“I may have agreed with your theory last night Junsu but this is beyond ridiculous.” Yunho stood over Junsu in an effort to exude the dominance that his still healing voice couldn’t offer. “You can’t keep walking around on tip-toes like Eun Ra is some sort of…of…psychopath.”

“Perhaps she is.” Junsu challenged.

“How would you know, you’re being stubborn as always and this time it’s really getting on my nerves.” Yunho began walking off.

“You’re being stubborn while Changmin could be dead out there thanks to her.” Junsu mumbled.

Yunho spun on his heel and faced Junsu, disregarding his sore throat.

“You think that doesn’t bother me? I’m the one who is responsible for all of you, you don’t think I’m the slightest bit worried that Changmin’s out there and we don’t even know where ‘there’ is?!” Yunho shouted. “You’re the one who sent him out there and yet you’re more concerned about what Eun Ra’s motive is! Why don’t you worry about your friend who you’ve known for years instead of trying to judge a person you met 24 hours ago? I wanna get out of here as much as you do, but I actually trust the only person we know right now, not judging them.” He broke off coughing, as Micky stood next to the window with his arms folded and Junsu merely stood there, ashamed for making his leader so frustrated.

“I’m…” Junsu was unsure of what to say.

“Sorry? I can tell you’re not.” Yunho hated himself for getting so angered in this situation but they were all tense. “And you won’t be until you know – or think you know – what Eun Ra is doing. Just…don’t go out there tonight. It won’t help anything.” He headed back to his room, not wanting to remain in the awkward atmosphere any longer while Junsu exhaled a long breath and ran a hand through his hair.

“You know,” Micky spoke up from his post at the window. “Now would be a better time than any to follow what he says.”

Junsu just stood there, his hand still in his hair. Micky cocked his head to the side.

“You’re still gonna go aren’t you?”

“Yes.”

-----

It was shortly after one in the morning when Junsu and Micky slipped out of their room, neither of them had spoken to either Yunho or Jaejoong for the entire day and Junsu couldn’t help but feel a tiny pang of regret for going against his friend’s words, but in Junsu’s mind, he was making it up to Yunho. The two of them crept across the living room where Eun Ra was sleeping on the couch again before pausing at the door.

“Don’t get any weird ideas; I only ever wear these for decoration.” Junsu whispered as he pulled his belt off. Micky raised an eyebrow before looking away awkwardly.

“I still don’t wanna see my friend with no pants on.”

“Oh grow up, I have something underneath them, and it’s not like it hasn’t happened before.”

“All those times were accidents, I swear.” Micky re-assured while still looking away.

Junsu tsk’ed as he fiddled with the lock on the door.

“There.” Junsu exclaimed as the door clicked. “You can look now.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I’m sure, just move.” Junsu shoved Micky out the door before exiting as well and pulling the door tightly shut.

On the couch, a pair of un-sleeping eyes flew open.

-----

The two escapees truly had no idea which way to go but quickly decided to head right in any attempt to get away from the house. The night was as cold as it had been in the maze except, the wind chill made it colder despite the long hill that ran alongside them and there was no moonlight to light their way.

“Changmin!!” Junsu yelled out suddenly, causing Micky to almost jump out of his skin.

“Jesus Christ dude.” Micky exclaimed in his somewhat failed English. “Warn me before you do that next time.”

“Well, I wanna know where he is.” Junsu shrugged.

“I’m sure the rest of this dead valley wants to know who he is now.” Micky shook his head, before stumbling at a point close to the hill. He spared a glance at the ground before doing a double-take.

“…Yahh…Junsu…” Micky crouched down to pick up what he’d tripped over.

“Bwoh?”

“You might wanna come here.” Micky held the object in his hand as he heard Junsu crash over the twigs on the ground. He stood up and turned around to show Junsu what he had found.

“I don’t reckon he’s dead though.” Micky said as he held up Changmin’s shoe. Junsu rolled his eyes

“Sure, he just felt like taking his shoe off.”

“No, I’m serious.” Micky looked over to the hill and noticed that a trail of twigs had been pushed down the hill, almost as though someone had slid down it. He dropped Changmin’s shoe and started off, taking the hill at a run and forcing Junsu to shout and quickly follow. As they both got halfway up however, they realised the path cut off. Junsu looked around confusedly for a second.

“Maybe someone tried to follow him?” He asked slightly out of breath.

“He could’ve made it to the top.” Micky suggested.

“He might’ve made it back!” They both exclaimed at the same time. Together the two of them quickly clambered the rest of the way up the hill, every so often slipping on a loose twig or tripping on a root. Both of them were out of breath by the time they reached the top but what they saw most definitely took away any remaining breath.

“So you did manage to drag another of your friends into your little scheme?” Eun Ra asked with her back turned to them, her long black hair blowing loose in the wind, only her white arms stood out. “That’ll make my job easier.”

“What job?” Junsu asked indignantly. “What have you done with Changmin?”

“I have to say, your theory about me was correct which is where you do in fact go wrong.” Eun Ra turned to face them, her hair now wrapping around her neck like a black scarf. “You see, I don’t entirely care what happens to either of you, I mean you could eventually agree to what I offer.”

“Which is?” Micky asked striding up to her.

“All in good time. But yes,” She turned her eyes to Junsu who now also stood right in front of her. “I did take a risk to make one of you suspicious and you,” Eun Ra glanced back at Micky. “You’re probably thinking right now ‘how did she get here?’, ‘how does she know?’ and not one of you have realised that this was all part of a well-played plan.”

Junsu grabbed her arm, sure it might be a universal rule not to harm a girl but he couldn’t help it. “What are you planning? Who are you?”

“I have to say, staring into the eyes of someone who is the same height as you is not scary at all.” Eun Ra jerked her arm back from Junsu, who did not try to grab it again. “But you’ve gone and left the two people who trust me most, completely defenceless. It’s all your fault isn’t it…Junsu? You led the maknae to me, and now you’ve abandoned the eldest and the leader. Tsk, tsk, not smart at all really.”

“What the hell is your problem?” Junsu started to shout but was knocked flat on the ground by a sharp hit to the jaw, Micky soon following as he was harshly elbowed in the cheek.

Eun Ra looked down at them with sickening kindness. “All in good time.

-----

Yunho drifted between his dream and sleepy reality as he heard a voice break through the clouds.

"You'll never leave me." It whispered.

Confused, Yunho shook himself out of his dream and opened his eyes slowly. They shot open in alarm however when he saw Eun Ra only inches from JaeJoong's face. He would've jumped up and asked why she was so close to him but found that his legs were tangled in his blanket. He had no chance to ask Eun Ra what she was doing before she spotted Yunho watching and smiled evilly at him. With a sudden movement she jumped over to Yunho and roughly held a pillow to his face. Yunho let out a muffled shout of panic as he struggled desperately for air. He had no idea that a girl could be this strong and he wasn't exactly weak himself. He tried frantically to use his arms or legs to help free himself but his legs were trapped in the blankets and the girl was sitting on one of his arms. His mind was finally failing due to the lack of oxygen and Yunho found that his struggles were becoming feebler.

Black dots were dancing in his vision as Eun Ra decided her work was done. She smiled once more in a particularly sinister way before removing the pillow. Yunho rolled onto his side, his lungs heaving for air that he knew would be pointless to receive, and he was too far gone from the conscious world that he was willingly going to hand himself over to one of darkness. Yunho tried shouting one last time as he saw Eun Ra start to walk over to where JaeJoong was peacefully sleeping, not at all disturbed at what had just been happening to his fellow group mate. However, Yunho had no breath left to yell with, he watched helplessly as JaeJoong sighed quietly in his sleep, his long fringe covering his left eye. He was oblivious to the coming danger. Yunho's eyes finally rolled back in his head and his world turned to black as he heard JaeJoong shout in alarm.

I'm ecstatic! We're now getting to the good part!!! >.< You should all know what will come after this right yay~~~

I do apologise though if this chapter wasn't the most action-packed or interesting, but a lot of explanation had to be made which also kind of links into the next part of the story. Note to self though, when trying to explain things through a character, never choose Junsu, he makes it difficult XD

Also for the last part where you might be wondering how Eun Ra is miraculously stronger, that also links into the next part but, where she hit Junsu and Micky are actually good points to knock a person unconcious. Just for reference, she hit Junsu in the middle underneath of his chin where there is a nerve that when hit can knock someone out, and she elbowed Micky where the top and bottom jaw meet close to the ear, that also has a nerve.

But anywho~ welcome to new readers! <3 No silent readers, you're always lurking. Comments, criticism, chocolate cake, holidays, new clothes are more than welcome.
