Dara Chronicles
Dara's POV
Weeks that followed, I did everything to just stay on my own.
When I returned Young Bae shirt to him, I did my best to avoid him. I just thought I need to help my uncle; and that is to keep Yuri from doing anything to affect my uncles’ job.
I figured; I wouldn’t really be staying here long… better to make little connections to people I will leave behind.
In our last month of the semester, I found out there is a recognition ball for freshmen to juniors; the seniors’ have their graduation ball.
I knew I wouldn’t be able to attend because I don’t have anything to wear. I have no intention of asking my uncle to buy clothes for me because I know we’re saving money so that we’ll be ready when we move.
Young Bae seemed to have notice that I was avoiding him, so he didn’t try approaching me whenever we see each other; although sometimes I still catch him looking at me at class or at the cafeteria.
I talked to Jaejoong oppa on the phone the other day… he sounded so happy.
He said he has a surprise for me but he wouldn’t tell me what.
I still wish I’ll be able to see him.
I know he misses me the same as I miss him. I can tell with his letters and when I talk to him on the phone.
A week before our Recognition program; the best of the class was announced. I managed to be the 5th best in class.
While sitting at my favorite place at school, I was crying again.
I felt so proud of myself and can’t help but think of my parents; they would have been so proud of me.
Sometimes I felt so mad on why they have to die. I wasn’t ready to be left alone.
But I guess all my questions would forever remain questions.
I was almost done crying when I handkerchief appeared in my face.
I wasn’t really surprised to see it was Young Bae.
He sat beside me.
“You’re crying again”. He said.
“Yes…” I answered as I sniffed.”… I suddenly remembered my parents.” I said and smiled a little at him.
“Yes, I’m sorry. I heard about that…”
Awkward silence followed.
“Uhmm…” we both said at the same time and then we both laugh.
“You go first…” he said.
“Congratulations on being 1st place.” I told him.
“Thanks… you too, on becoming 5th I mean.” He said smiling as he looked down at his hands.
“Dara?”
“Hmm?” I answered.
