Sick Unicorn (Xiumin/Lay)

Forbidden Equation

Sehun's hand explored the bed, his heart palpitating when he discovered the empty space next to him. He got up, his frangible legs shaking worriedly beneath him, and took tiny steps towards the door, closing it with a gentle thud behind him. He immediately saw Kai, lounging carefreely on one of the black sofas in the living room. "Jongin?" Kai glanced up at him. "Where's Luhan? And the others?" His voice sounded as if he was being strangled, faltering on every word.

"It's daytime - they can't be awake now; the sun burns them. You know that." Sehun's crestfallen face made Kai pity him. "Look, why don't we go out somewhere? To take your mind off things." He wasn't sure about that - Sehun hadn't left the dwelling since he got there - but he supposed it would be a good way to stop him from thinking of Luhan, and the events last night.

Once again Sehun found himself sipping bubble tea in the cafe he had been in on that night, only this time, he was sat with the man who should have been there the first time. Contrary to what he had hoped, leaving the house did not take his mind off Luhan. Kai said they were sleeping... but Luhan wasn't in his bed. "Why...? Why did you lie to me?" His voice shook as he spoke.

Kai looked surprised. "What do you mean?"

"You said they were all sleeping, but Luhan wasn't - I sleep in his bed, remember?"

"Y- You mean he wasn't there?"

"That's what I said." Sehun growled, the anger in his voice shocking him. As he spoke, despite the glowing sun, a furious gust of wind blew savagely inside the cafe.

"Sehun... you..." Kai trailed off as he stared at him in disbelief.

"What?" Sehun glared. The tenacious wind caused even heavy items (such as chairs) to defy gravity, before eventually calming itself down.

"How did you do that?" Jongin was both afraid and in awe of Sehun.

Sehun scoffed. "Do what? You don't think I did that, right?"

"Well... It did happen when you got angry." He pointed out. "Not to mention, you and Luhan have been spending an awful lot of time together, I thought that maybe..."

"You think we're soulmates? We're not!" Sehun wasn't gay, no matter what happened between him and luhan, that was the truth and always would be. The destructive wind began to pick up again, and both humans knew they had to get out. "Anyway, Luhan... We have to find him." Sehun breathed, composing himself. Despite his defience, Kai had doubts about what Sehun had said.

His body registered the fact that it had begun to get dark, so Luhan awoke, and found himself curled up in a ball, hiding out of sight in the shadows. he didn't know where he was. It didn't matter. All that mattered was that he got back to Sehun.  He zig-zagged in every direction, trying to get a glimpse of a clue that would tell him how to get back home. He jaw ached, his entire body ached, but who cared? Sehun - his soulmate - was the only thing that he valued, the only thing that meant something.

"Where is Luhan?!" Sehun couldn't tell if Kris was angry or worried, so he decided on a mixture of both. Kris, Luhan, and Xiumin had been called out on a mission - a newly turned vampire had gone on an uncontrollable rampage and they were needed to bring it to a standstill. Jongin was resting in Kyungsoo's arms, which made Sehun miss Luhan even more.

"There's no more time. We have to go without him." Xiumin looked at Sehun, who smiled at him half-heartedly. "He'll find his way back. Don't worry."

Wu Fan moved towards Tao, and captured his lips in his. "Be good, and don't bite the human's."

A weak human screamed in pain as homicidal fangs buried themselves into the tender skin of his neck. With a murderous grin, the young vampire absorbed the liquid oozing from the incision. Once all the blood had been depleted from his prey's lifeless body, he tossed it aside, and began searching for his next victim.

Xiumin and Kris arrived just in time. Wu Fan (having the ability to fly) attacked the vampire from behind by flying low and letting his feet dangle at just the right height so that he could kick him in the back of the head, drawing blood. Miraculously, his wound healed in a few seconds - before Kris had even managed to land his feet firmly on the ground.

"This ends now." Kris commanded.

Annoyed at the interruption, the bloodthirsty vampire hissed "Oh, and I suppose you think you're going to make me." He darted towards Kris, who was stood between him and Xiumin. Wu Fan took to the air, flying out of the way - which resulted in the newly turned vampire launching himself at Minseok, who managed to block him by creating a wall of ice between them.

"Who are you?" A voice from behind asked, making the vampire turn around. "Answer the question!" The voice ordered.

Xiumin beamed when he saw who the voice belonged to. "Luhannie~" He exclaimed.

Scoffing, the young vampire glared at Luhan. "My name is Yixing." He growled. "My master calls me Lay."

"Well, Yixing. I suggest you stop this outragous rampage at once." Luhan warned him, psychokinetically tearing a tree from its roots in the ground, suspending it in the air - only a few metres above Yixing.

"Or what? You wouldn't dare drop it. My master would destroy you - he cares about me, that's why he made me like this."

Kris intervined. "Where is your master now?"

Lay stuttered slightly, but tried not to let his opponents hear the sadness in his voice. "He- he got lost. But he'll come back for me, he promised."

Xiumin felt empathy for him - he knew what it was like to be abandoned. "Vampires don't just get lost. He isn't coming back." Judging by Yixng's forlorn expression, he wasn't taking the news well. "I know what it's like; trust me. We can help you."

Lay eyed Luhan, who was still holding the tree in the air. Minseok told Luhan to put it down, that it wasn't necessary. Not sure what to do, Luhan looked at Kris, telepathically asking for help. Wu Fan simply nodded, so he lowered the tree back into its original position, but of course, he couldn't join it back to its severed roots.

Without making a sound, Yixing walked over to the tree, bent down and waved his hand over its roots, and  remarkably, the roots connected themselves to the detached tree. Kris and Xiumin exchanged glances. So that's what his power is, thought Minseok, I bet Kris thinks he'll be useful. Sure enough, Kris asked Lay to join their coven. After hesitating for a few seconds, thinking about his options, Lay accepted.

Sehun lay awake, in the bed he shared with Luhan. It was midnight, and his friend or boyfriend or whatever he was - Luhan - still had not returned.

He wiped the tears from his bloodshot eyes away with the back of his hand, sniffling, when the door opened suddenly, and Luhan scrambled in. Frantically, Luhan threw his arms around Sehun, embracing him. "I'm sorry Sehunnie!"

Overwhelmed, Sehun just stood there as Luhan hugged him. When he finally released his grip, he pushed Sehun onto the bed, climbing on top of him (careful not to crush him by putting too much pressure on him) kissing him passionately. Weak and vulnerable in comparison to Luhan, Sehun couldn't do a thing except lay there on the bed, as the vampire nibbled on his neck hungrily, craving for more. This continued for quite some time - no-one knew exactly how long. Eventually, Luhan managed to regain control. Leaving Sehun perplexed, he stopped, sat next to him on the bed, and was silent.

The way Xiumin felt about Lay was strange. Yixing was a murderer, but he couldn't help feeling sorry for him. It was hard to be turned into something he knew nothing about, something he couldn't control, and be abandoned by the very person that turned him into it.

Minseok's kindness made Lay realise the monster he had become. He'd taken away innocent lives, treated human beings like nothing, like he was disgusted to walk the Earth with them. He thought it impossible that Xiumin would ever do something so evil; something so inhuman.

Detecting his anguish, Xiumin knelt before him, cupping his face in his hands. Understanding how he felt, Xiumin allowed Lay to push him away. But he stayed on the floor in front of him, his eyes focusing on the latter's. "I understand, you know. I know how you feel, but I don't believe you're a monster."

Yixing looked away, ashamed. "You don't know that."

"What you did wasn't right, but you couldn't help it. It's ok." His voice was soft, soothing him. Lay reached unconsciously for Xiumin's hand, who held it gladly.

Silently, they remained for what felt like eternity grasping each other's hands, Xiumin kneeling on the floor in front of Lay with his head nuzzling his lap.
