Instead of going home right away, Myungsoo decided to take a stroll in the park.

There weren’t much people around since it was rather late.

While humming to Airplane’s 예쁘다 (Pretty), he kicked a can that happened to be in front of him.

He wasn’t sure why his friends were so interested in that thing.

“Why him? There’s nothing special about him at all.”

He shrugged and shoved his hands in his pockets.

From a distance, he could hear someone talking.

“Sungjong-ah, I’m on my way home.”

“…oh, jinjja?”

“…kay..”

Sungjong? Who..isn’t that the loner’s brother?

He looked up to see if it was the loner, but couldn’t really tell because the guy was across the street.

“Damn, he talks loud.”

He shrugged.

“Sungjong-ah, I’m on my way home.”

‘Oh, okay. Hyung…Umma was drinking again.’

Sungyeol froze. He sighed.

“…oh, jinjja?”

‘Neh, come home soon.’

“…kay” He hung up.

Ever since his father left again, his mother was drinking. His father always disappeared on them to go in hiding, but then he’d come back and everything was well. Sort of. But everytime he left, his mother would start drinking. She was a mess. She’d stop going in to work and drink all day, which would end up with her getting fired.  Which is why Sungyeol was working at the café. They needed money to get by. He usually had enough money for rent since he got paid every week. The only problem was food. Because his paychecks were all spent on the house, he wouldn’t have enough to feed his mother and Sungjong. As long as his mother and Sungjong were fed, he was fine. But Kyungsoo, one of the cooks in the café, always made more food for him to take home. Joonmyun just told him that they were leftovers and that it’d be a waste to throw out. Sungyeol didn’t know about that though.

Suddenly, his phone began ringing.

“Hmm? I don’t know this number..”

He answered it anyway.

“Yeobosseyo?”

‘Sungyeollie!’

“Dongwoo?” He scoffed. “Yah, how did you get my number?!”

‘Your brother.’

“Mwoh? When?”

‘I bumped into him after school.’

“Oh. Well, I’m go-“

‘Oh, and everyone else has your number too.’

“Including that ?!”

‘Yep.’

Sungyeol groaned and hung up.

Shoving his phone into his pocket, he walked across the street.

He fastened his pace when he felt like something was following him.

“Just your imagination..” He shook his head.

As the guy was walking across the street, Myungsoo stiffened.

It was the loner.

‘Maybe if I just stand here, he won’t notice me.’ He thought.

But he kept walking.

He noticed that the loner was starting to walk faster.

He wasn’t sure if he was following the loner, or walking home.

He shrugged again then focused on his phone.

Sungyeol took out his keys and unlocked the door, then stepped in.

Kicking his shoes off, he checked to see if his brother was in the room.

“Jonggie-ah?”

“Hyung,you’re home!” Sungjong got up from the sofa.

“Joonmyun gave me some food from the café. Is Umma asleep?”

Sungjong sighed. “Yeah.. Are you going to eat?”

Sungyeol shook his head.

“I ate before I left. Save the rest for Umma, neh?” Sungjong nodded.
