Chapter 7

FlyFish

A/N: This week was hard. I had to study for ten hours a day, every day and PowerPoint clearly hates my guts. Just saying...

So, what I'm trying to say is, I can use all the support I can get.

I'd love some new subscribers and comments ;).

Have fun reading!

No matter how much Kyungsoo thought about it, later on, he still wasn’t sure exactly why he agreed to that preposterous deal.
Was it that he was madly in love with Kim Junmyun?
Or just that he suddenly wanted to take a risk?
Did he want to try living in luxury for once?
Or he simply wanted Kim Junmyun to look at him like he actually meant something to him?
Was he crazy in love, or just plain crazy?
Either way, even after that scarring experience with Kai, he agreed to the deal.
To every single, weird, dangerous part of it.
Now, he had three months to regret his rush decision.
“So you said ‘yes’ to that?” Jongdae gave him a disbelieving look as Kyungsoo went back on his little notebook and scribbled some more.
‘I did.’ It read and both his friends rolled their eyes at it.
“And for the next three months you can’t talk to us? Not even a whisper? Just writing on that- that…” Chanyeol questioned pointing at the singer’s brand new notebook.
‘Pretty much.’ Kyungsoo wrote down, shrugging his shoulders.
“That’s crazy!” Jongdae yelled throwing his arms in the air exasperated.
The shorter guy pouted a bit. He knew it was crazy, but he was kind of sick, living so normally.
‘Can’t I be crazy for once?’ He put down on the red notebook drawing a heart next to his words, hoping to appease his friends this way.
“No!” It didn’t really work.
“Chanyeol is the crazy one. You’re the short, doe-eyed guy who sings well and acts sensibly.” Jongdae put in and it was a pretty accurate description, in Kyungsoo’s opinion, though he refrained from putting that on paper.
“Oh, no, hyung, it’s not like that.” Chanyeol shook his head, slowly and meaningfully, like he knew something the others ignored.
“Kyungsoo is usually calm and sensible,” The tall, curly haired barman nudged Kyungsoo a little at that, “but he can be very passionate if he is angry or embarrassed.”
The singer felt his cheeks flush.
‘I’m definitely NOT-’He was beginning to scribble that, when Jongdae laughed from next to him.
“I guess you have a point there, Yeol-ah…” He nodded and chuckled some more.
Instead of writing a chain of curses for both his friends, Kyungsoo settled for punching them both in the shoulder awkwardly.
“And Kai promised to get you together with Kim Junmyun in three months or less?” Jongdae continued with what was starting to look more and more like an interrogation.
The singer nodded and suppressed the urge to squeal, because he wasn’t sure if squealing was considered ‘talking’ or not and he didn’t want to risk breaking the deal with Kai.
“You won’t last three months without talking.” Chanyeol shook his head regrettably. “No matter how much you fancy the pants off of ‘Rich Guy’, no one can stay silent for so long.”
Kyungsoo thought about it for a moment.
He wasn’t particularly talkative as a person and he had a lot of self-restraint. He didn’t think it would be all that hard to go mute for three months. Mute people lead great lives. He could do it too.
An incoming call interrupted his inner pep talk.
He looked at his phone’s screen and, not recognizing the number, handed the cell phone to Jongdae, hoping that he’d be able to explain the situation (or a more believable version of it) to whoever was calling.
“Hello. Do Kyungsoo’s phone here.” Jongdae said in an odd, slightly mocking voice, while he rolled his eyes at Kyungsoo.
“Yes, he’s here.” Jongdae furrowed his eyebrows. “Oh, you know about that deal. Ok. Yes, sure.”
He pulled the phone from his ear and handed it back to the singer.
“He says he’s calling from Kai’s office. He wants to talk to you. Doesn’t mind if you don’t reply.” Kyungsoo’s friend explained hurriedly.
The big-eyed guy put the phone on his ear and waited.
“Do Kyungsoo? Well, I’m guessing you’re on the phone. This is Tao. Kai’s assistant.” Secretary. Kyungsoo thought with spite, actually being able to imagine the tall guy’s obnoxious way of hitting his big wooden desk with his pen as he talked hurriedly on the phone.
“Listen, I don’t have all day,” Tao went on to throw it to the singer’s face, like he was sure Kyungsoo was just a lazy part-timer who did nothing all day long.
“Kai is waiting for you in Apgujeong Street in Gangnam. He’s in ‘West Wing’, the Temple of Fashion, but you’ve probably never heard of it.” Kyungsoo had already opened his mouth to say something back, but he promptly closed it when he got a warning stare from Chanyeol, reminding him of his promise to stay silent at all costs.
“Just take a bus or something and go to Gangnam. Try to not get lost.” Tao recited like he was talking to a child.
“You’ll see a street full of shops you’ll never be able to afford buying from. Next to the Gucci store, there’s a big, black building made mostly of glass. It says ‘West Wing Department Store’ on it. Get in there and find Kai. If the guards in the entrance stop you, just write them a note that you’re with Kai.”  By the end of the cat-like secretary’s monologue Kyungsoo was fuming.
He happened to know where West Wing Department Store was, thank you very much. True, he had never shopped there before, but he wasn’t an alien, he knew his way around Seoul.
“Ok. I’m gonna hang up now. Don’t embarrass yourself too much and don’t touch anything in that store. Cause if you as much as pull a button out of these clothes, you’ll really have to sell your liver in the black market.” He cackled evilly a little and then the line got cut off completely.
Kyungsoo was suddenly very tempted to just text Tao only to tell him that he had proposed selling his kidney, not his liver and that for such a know-it-all, Tao was pretty dumb, if he thought a person could survive after selling their liver.
He didn’t send the message though.
He opted for running to the bus station to go and meet Kai as soon as possible.
Not because he had missed the wild and dangerous swindler, but rather because he could not wait to make Kim Junmyun fall madly in love with him.
Despite his initial enthusiasm, Kyungsoo really felt out of his waters when he entered the famous Department store.
Everything was shining. From the walls, to the brand names outside every store and the marble floors.
The guards were dressed in black suits and they looked like celebrities, so the singer couldn’t even imagine how the customers would look like.
He pinned his eyes to the floor, trying to avoid the curious glances he was getting from the sellers.
Then he saw women, with hands full of bags which seemed more stylish and expensive than his whole outfit.
The shops he bought clothes from, didn’t give out such perfect and shining bags. The old man in the counter just put the addition to Kyungsoo’s wardrobe in a small, blue, plastic bag and even threw the change in with it, unaware that it was highly unhygienic.
The short guy only wanted to dig a hole into the ground and get in, when he heard a somewhat familiar, drawling voice call his name.
“Do Kyungsoo!” The owner of the name turned around, without really raising his head and took a peek at the person who was calling him.
It was Kai.
In a branded and fashionable suit.
And Kyungsoo had never noticed, in the dim lit office in Hongdae, how sleek and nice the boy’s clothes were.
He gulped down his envy and walked quickly towards him.
“You’re late.” The dark-skinned boy mused a little and Kyungsoo checked his watch.
It had taken his exactly fifteen minutes to cross almost half the city and he hadn’t even stopped to breathe, fearing he might waste Kai’s time. The swindler sure had some nerve to say that.
For the second time that day, he opened his mouth planning to retort something, before realizing his mistake and cursing his bad luck.
“Well, let’s not waste more time.” Kai turned round and waved for Kyungsoo to follow him, like he was his servant.
