Fall Again

Description

“All the art of living lies in mingling

of letting go and holding on.”

                                     - Henry Ellis

synopsis.

Kim Jongin was a typical teenager except that he had a cold personality and was not fond of opening up that easily to people due to experiencing dark pasts. Born with unreasonably good looks, he had a long list of girls waiting willingly to be his girlfriend but none had their wish fulfilled so far. The only female he was close with, Park Eunmi was just the same like those girls, having a huge crush on him except that she was not planning to tell him her true feelings, the ones which she had been hiding from him since forever because she knew the fact that if she did that, then everything would not be the same anymore. Her feelings remained bottled up in her chest, he still survived his days with the same old cold pattern, as if he did not have the will to resume it until one day, she was found dead, immobile and cold. Her death was not an accident. It was all planned by merciless creatures, leaving her all alone without a single thread on her body— only covered by her already cold and bruised honey skin by the time he found her. Before he could digest everything, the next thing he knew, when he opened his eyes, he was into the past, exactly one year before the day she died. Thinking that this was a chance given by God to him in order to save her life, he was determined to stop the history from happening again. She remained the same— with the same smile plastered on her face, her hair was still the charcoal colour, the way her eyes twinkled when she caught things which triggered her interest and the rhythm of her breathing remained just the same like what he remembered except that— she had zero memories of him.

Foreword

prologue.

               Every life has a soundtrack.

You told me this before, do you still remember it? We were sitting at the back of the class, when we’re supposed to finish our homework given by Mr Kwang which we had to submit before the last bell rang. We were listening to your favourite song, Falling Inside the Black by Skillet. I didn’t really want to listen to it but you forced me to by putting one earphone of yours in my ear. I was too engrossed in solving the math question when you suddenly told me this. That there are specific tunes which would remind you of when you felt the happiest— spending your last time with your late grandfather, when you felt like running away from home, when you felt like you wanted to be swallowed by a pitch of darkness, in order to acknowledge whether people would actually bother to notice this or not when this happens.

At that time, what I did was I only stared at you, your mouth— specifically as I was trying to digest everything and store them in my memories so that your favourite song will remind me of you, the way your mouth moved when you said these things, what you said and— your voice. I wanted to tell you that you’re probably the gloomiest person I’ve ever known but I didn’t do that, right? Because I knew that if I did, you’d take the earphone away from me and put it right in yours, then, you’d ignore me for the rest of the day, right? How come, I’ve come to the extent where I know you so well? It’s so unfair that I know you so well and yet, you don’t even bother to do the same thing to me. But, I don’t blame you. It’s not even your fault, to begin with.

Jongin-ah, I know that by the time you’re reading this, we’re not in the same world anymore. Am I right? If I ask you a favour, would you do it for me?

Please don’t hate me.

Chapter 3: Beautiful. Mourning her loss in his own way. The feels are so raw. It makes my heart feel heavy with each memory they shared. But the last part of this chapter is very confusing. Foreshadow of her death in the letter? :(

Chapter 2: This is so sad :( I really like how you conveyed a lot of emotions into your chapters.

Chapter 2: It was so tragically beautiful. So well written, the emotions were so raw. Maybe because I know how it feels to lose a loved one that this chapter really hit home and had my waterworks going. It sickens me to the core that people can play around with death like it's a toy. My heart literally broke when Jongin was trying to warm up her body. And when he was in her rom. Poor Jongin having to witness her like that. He seems so depressed but it totally understandable. You can tell Jongin really cared for her even though he didn't really show it when she was alive, he could posibly love her as well.
