TWENTYSECOND BIRTHDAY
The chandeliers that were hanging around the high ceiling...
The beautiful light effects...
The sparkling crystals that were hanging around...
The gorgeous golden walls...
The velvet curtains that were neatly tied with golden ropes at the side of the floor to ceiling window...
The life size Roman like statues that stood sternly everywhere...
The flowers that were perfectly arranged...
The champagne fountain that attracted so much attention...
The round tables with rich cloth over it...
The mouth watering Westerd food...
The mirror like granite floor...
It all became useless!
I can't even appreciate it at all now
All the gold things around here..in this...this...hall is so hurtful in my eyes.
Even the music irritated me...
I should be happy...should be mingling with people but...
One thing is missing.
Yes. There's a hole.
One girl is missing.
She should be here at my side.
I should be sharing this moment with her.
I may have appreciated the event if she's here.

I haven't seen her since morning!

Last year she's abroad so she was not able to celebrate with me.

"Aaaw, Young Bae is sad" Sun Ye said and went to me to give me a hug, "she'll come soon"
I rolled my eyes at her, "soon is not in her dictionary"
"Then put it in" she smiled and went away with her friends.
"Sorry, she's always late" Hyuna, Kyon Min's bestfriend said, "Just be happy okay? You'll have lots of birthdays with her. She's your wife already!!"
I took a deep sigh.
I just feel so incomplete when she's not around.
It's a hard feeling for me.
I don't know what may happen to her.
She could be so clumsy at times.
"hey" Ji Yong approached me with a drink in his hand
"hey" I said nonchantly
"always late huh"
"Yep. What else is new?"
"Maybe she's preparing another surprise like every year?"
"I don't care what surprise she has for me. I just want her right now..."
"Well, maybe she's having a hard time fixing her surprise for you. What did you ask for her as a birthday gift anyway?" he asked as he gulped down his drink.
"a baby"
Suddenly I felt wet.
I realized it when I saw Ji Yong wiping his mouth.
He just threw up on me.
"W-what?!" he asked with wide eyes
"Are you deaf?" I said while wiping the drink on my face not caring at all, "I asked her if I could get a baby for a gift"
"ARE YOU CRAZY?! She might feel pressured or something. It's a kid that you want not a doll"
"Yeah yeah right. We've been married for more than a year yet there's nothing we can call our own. Ji" I looked at him desperately, "I want a baby so badly"
He looked weirdly at me then shook his head, "If I could just give you a baby right now I would but hello, you're asking a very hard thing."
"I know. We argued about it a lot of times already. She said she's not yet ready."
"Then I guess you should respect that"
I sighed more, "How can I agree to that? She's always busy with her pictorials and all. She's been going in and out of the country. She doesn't want to have a baby because she's busy? hn.."
"Just give her some time. "
"Okay. Thanks man"
We knocked fist and he went down and hurriedly went to Dara, his girlfriend.
I tapped my fingers on the table.
30 minutes...
One hour...
Two hours...
Three hours...
Fine, I'll just go have some fun on my on.
As the night went on, the party became louder and louder.
I tried to make myself feel happy but I still can't.
As the more they greeted me happy birthday and handed me their expensive gifts, the more I miss my wife who have not yet greeted me for the day.
I went out to get some fresh air.
The party made me feel so icky. The loud music became noise in my ears. The smell of alcohol lingered in the air conditioned room.
When I got out, I felt like breathing real air once again.
I sat at a bench facing the grand fountain.
I stared at it.
30 minutes
One hour
two hours
My friends started to go home but they made sure they passed by me and greet me again and thanked me for a wonderful night.
I smiled and smiled thanking them that they are appreciated and I'm glad to see them all together.
Soon, I was alone.
They were telling me to go home already but I didn't listen.
The day will end soon...
I stared at the fountain.
It changes from color to color.
I didn't paid attention on this fountain before but now I just realized it was beautiful.
I didn't notice a tear fell from my eye until I felt it on my hand.
Guys can cry too right?
I'm expecting too much from her...but nothing.
My wife won't make it.
I covered my face with both of my palm.
What's wrong with me?
"hey,"
I heard her voice. Very calming.
I felt her cold hands went to my face and she made me face her.
I looked up and she had her usual apologizing eyes that I'm tired on looking at.
"Bae~ look at me"
I didn't budge.
So many thoughs bug me right now.
Gahd.
I was so worried.
Kyon Min sat beside me and I avoided her eyes as I quickly wiped away my tears.
If she sees me crying, I'm sure she'll laugh at me but she didn't.
She made me look at her and she hugged me.
"sshh. I'm sorry"
I stopped myself from crying and buried my face on her neck, "I just hate it when I always wait for you, " I admitted, "I can't stop myself from worrying and also missing you. Usually, if some other people makes me wait, I would have already left them but for you, I just can't help myself but to wait patiently. That's why I haven't left here. Because I believe you'll come."
"I'm so sorry" she said her voice wavered but she kept on rubbing my back.
"Why did you just got here? You landed in Korea awhile ago right?"
"Ah... about that... I was rushed in the hospital--"
"You were what?!"
I bolted straight up.
She wore a scared face as she looked up to me.
I knew it. Something bad has happened to her.
I should've looked for her awhile ago!
This is all my fault!
I examined her body, "Are you hurt? Tell me where you got hurt"
"Chill hubby" she said pulling me to sit next to her.
I wiped my sweaty forehead, "I should have fetched you in the airport."
"Bae~ I'm okay. I just felt dizzy"
"Dizzy? Omo! It could be serious!! What if it has something to do with the brain? It could be deadly.! Let's go to the doctor tomorrow! Next time be careful--"
"Bae! I'm pregnant!"
"What?! See?! You're even pregnant"
This girl. What should I do with her--WHOA! WAIT!!
"p-pregnant?! Like a baby is forming in your womb?"
"Yep daddy Bae"
I shivered from what she called me.
Soon, I'll be an appa!
How cool could that be?
That's my dream since I was young.
Kyon Min had just granted me my birthday wish.
"b-but about your work..."
"I realized that you need me at your side"
"Thanks for realizing that"
she laughed and continued on
"I'm quitting my job."
"Your quitting 'M-B2utyful'?"
I asked. It's a boutique that her friends and Kyon Min owns.
"Nope. Not quitting actually. I'll just rest for awhile" she said rubbing her flat stomach, "I have the girls to help in the business anyways"
We locked eyes and we both smiled.
Parents.
We'll be called parents soon.
Suddenly, the excitment that the luxury cars made me feel was replaced by excitement from our future baby.
I was taken aback when my wife kissed me wile mumbling 'happy birthday'
"Sorry that was a rush. Just wanted to make sure that I greet you before the day ends."
I looked at my watch and it read 12:00 am.
Wow.
Kyon Min loves doing last minute stuffs.
I pulled her closer and hugged her small frame.
"I think I need a girl..."
She chuckled quietly
"...tonight"
She pushed me lightly and looked into my eyes. "Alright birthday boy. Let's party all night" she winked at me and we both walked to my car.
Best birthday gift I ever received: our first baby.
I'm mentioning it again and I'll never get tired of mentioning it, "I love my wife so much!"
