The beginning of a brand new life

3 Years Later

Author’s POV

“Sunghyun, Jung-hwa, come down for your lessons”

“Ne Auntie…” the twins say and decent the stairs, Kevin leans against his younger twin

“Sunghyun you feeling alright?” June asked walking over to the two boys

“He feels sick…” Aiden said, holding the latter up

“Okay…we should skip lessons today; if Sunghyun is unwell then it means I’m pushing too hard on you two…I just want you two to be ready for school next week…”

“Don’t worry auntie, we’ll be okay; I mean we’ve been studying for three years. I think Hyung and I are ready” the elder lady smiled and ruffled Aiden’s hair

“I know you two are ready, I’m confident enough. Are you?”

“Ne!”

“Okay, take your brother up to his bed and I’ll bring medicine and two bowls of my famous soup”

“Okay” Aiden said as he helped a tired Kevin up to his room and laid him down

“Hyung”

“Please don’t call me that here…only out in public….” The younger pouts

“Fine…Brother…do you think we’ll be okay in this new high school?”

“To tell the truth, I don’t know”

Aiden looked at his bracelet that Kevin got him a week ago for their 16^th birthday; it had their names engraved, the silver shined as he turns it to see their names

“I’m scared…” Kevin looked at him and smiled slightly and held his hand,

“I am too, but we have each other to rely on” Aiden laughed slightly

“I know…I mean on other levels…”

“It will be fine” Kevin says and let’s go of Aiden’s hand and sat up as their aunt entered the room

“Here you go Hun” she says and places a small kiss on Kevin’s forehead, “You’re just starting to get the fever, good thing we caught it now before you got worse”

“Fevers can’t cause death Auntie; if I got sick I’d be better before school starts” Kevin saw Aiden’s face pale

“Aiden, I’m alright”

“I know”

“Aiden why don’t you get ready for tomorrow, we’re going to go out and get you school supplies”

“But it’s only four in the afternoon”

“I know, but its better getting ready for the next day than waiting at the last minute”

“Okay auntie…” Aiden whispered before leaving the two and entered in his own room.

Aiden’s POV

When I closed my door I slide to the floor, my heart increased every passing moment

Kevin won’t get sick….he won’t leave me….he promised

I looked at my bracelet and smiled

I loved it; we had matching ones to tell them apart my bracelet has green gems on each side of my name, whereas Kevin has red ones.

I looked at the calendar, it was the first of December; auntie said that the school we are going to has already been on winter break and will start up again in two days, which is Monday

I was mad at the fact that in each moth we have to wear uniforms for a week, it’s unlike me…

At least it’s not year round…

I walk to my desk and start writing a list of what I will need for school; then another for what I want, which is headphones, CD’s, Few hats, etc.

A knock came to my door and Aunt June walked in and placed a bowl of her soup next to my arm, “Hun you have to eat…”

“I will” she patted my head and walked out.

I ate the soup quickly and smiled, her soup is the best, I don’t know how she does it.

Next day
 

I woke up to seeing Kevin sitting on my desk, reading a book “YAH!! GET OUT!!!” I yelled and threw a pillow at him

“Okay okay!” he left and I got dressed quickly; I came out in a pair of blue skinny jeans, black t-shirt, boots, and a black and red checkers over shirt

I ruffled my hair and walk right into Kevin’s room, I knew he was already dressed “Yah...you know you cannot come in my room in the morning….”

“Sorry, forgot” I rolled my eyes

“Come here, I’m gonna fix your hair”

“Fine…” I sit at his desk and he gets his combs and brushes.

After a few minutes Kevin was done and I smiled “I don’t know how you do it” I said and looked at y styled hair.

We go down and see Auntie June making pancakes “Omo~!” I admired the cakes as I sat down with Kevin

“You’re so childish”

“So?”

“Well you shouldn’t, people will think your still a child”

“Better than anything”

“Aish…”

I win, again~

“Here you two go”

“Thank you~”

After we ate we headed to the mall, once in a while Kevin and I would play ‘rock paper scissors’  and I won only twice….he won the other times.

“Aiden look at this, cute right?”

“Only because it reminds you of me….you know, you could find a different Animal to resemble me…besides a dog!” I pouted, ever since age ten Kevin would always say I look like a cute puppy from time to time

“Okay how about bear?”

That sounds cool…strong and afraid of nothing, well losing family and dying but nothing else…

“Okay”

“Okay then” he smiled “now give me a cute bear hug~”

He wants a bear hug? Okay

I hugged him tightly to the point where he started to squirm “Okay! That’s enough!” I laughed and let go of him

“No more hugs unless you are going to loosen your grip…”

“Alright hyung~” he glared at me

“Aid hun here is some cash; I need to run to a quick store so pay for the supplies”

“Okay” I said and walked around.

“Omo I am so sorry!” I heard Kevin; I hurried to see him picking up note books and pencils while the other guy stood up , I hide behind a small shelf

“It’s okay, I wasn’t looking”

“Neither was I…”

“No really it was my fault”

“Let’s both take blame” the guy chuckled, causing my brother to blush I chuckled while watching from behind the shelf

“Still I’m sorry”

“I am too”

Kevin handed the mystery guy his stuff and bowed, the guy bowed as well and walked past him and me.

Thank god he didn’t notice me…time to tease~

I run over to my brother and put my arm around his shoulder, “Love at first sight eh~?”

“I-It’s not like that!”

“Hmm~ Maybe my soon to be brother-in-law if you two found each other again”

“AIDEN WOO!”

“Okay, okay I’m sorry…” I put my hands in my pocket.

I look down to see a small phone, “Hyung do you think this is his?” Kevin snatched the phone from my hands

Little excited eh?

“Here hyung I’ll give it to hi-”

“No, no I will….after all I did cause this…”

Pffft~ Whatever you say hyung…

While he went and did that I browsed for the note books I wanted, “I want to make my own design…so four white and two greens….pens…..green and black……Folders….binders….Green and white”

“Eli!” I turn to see a boy…my age? Maybe younger than me

He walks past me and I shivered, and not in a good way; turning back I saw him turn the corner, he was scary looking

I look towards the ground, remembering his expression…expressionless, and his eyes were cold, and empty; just my mom and dad’s eyes….when they were slowly fading from this world to the next…

I suddenly felt cold and shivered again as the memories come back….

 “Aiden?” I looked up to see Kevin staring at me “Are you okay, what’s wrong, I haven’t seen that look ever since…”

“I’m fine…” I say and force a smile “Found your school supplies? Auntie gave me money for the supplies”

“Ah ne, want to pay and get something to drink?” I nodded.

Author’s POV

Kevin walked by Aiden’s side as they walked through the mall towards the food court, every chance he got he would look at his younger brother.

The last time he saw that look was when their parents and sister died, fear.

“Aiden…are you sure your fine”

“Ne hyung, what do you want?”

Kevin wasn’t buying it, but left it as that

“Let’s get a smoothie, flavor?” the two smiled and both say

“Strawberry banana smoothie with a side of strawberries~” the two laughed.

After ordering they sit on a bench and wait for their Aunt, “Aiden…were you thinking…of Umma and Appa….”

“I…yes….”

“It’s not your fault…”

“I feel like it’s my fault…that this happened….I miss them….i want them back….”

“So do I…but somehow fate wanted this to happen…” Aiden stayed quiet, “But, fate will do something good for us…”

“Sweeties!” the two look to see the middle aged woman run to them with bags in hands, “Sorry for taking so long, you would not believe the lines!”

“We believe it” the twins said together and stood and took a bag from the Aunt and they follow her to the car.

Sitting in the back Aiden plugs in his headphones to his IPod touch and smiled “Hyung, listen to this, remember this song?” after a few moments of silence Kevin finally nodded, smiling “Shall we?”

“We shall” he says.

The two get ready and began to sing

“Cuz you and I both loved~ What you and I spoke of, and others just read or others oly read of the love the love that I love~”

Their Aunt smiled at them while looking at them in the rear view mirror for a moment then set her eyes back on the road

“See I’m all about them words~ Over number unencumbered numbered words~ Hundreds or pages, pages, pages forwards~” Aiden smiled as his brother sang the next line

“More words then I had ever heard and I feel so alive~!”

“Cuz you and I both loved~ What you and I spoke of, and others just read of and if you could see me now o love love~!”

Their singing continued with different songs all the way home, after the past three years Aiden finally felt happy, complete again.

It was Sunday night and Aiden was lying in bed listening to music, he sung softly, not wanting anyone else to hear him

“You feel like a candle, in a hurricane; just like a picture…with a broken frame…Alone and helpless, like you’ve lost your fight but you’ll be alright, you’ll be alright” he whispers
“’Cause when push comes to shove you taste what you’re made of, you might bend ‘til you break, ‘cause it’s all you can take

On your knees you look up decide you’ve had enough you get mad, you get strong wipe your hands, shake it off. Then you stand~ then you stand…”

He hears a knock on the door and looks to see Kevin standing there, “Can I come in?”

“Sure bro” Aiden says and sits up

“You ready for tomorrow?”

“Not really, but if brother is there…I know I’ll be alright” the younger smiles

“We may not have classes together, Auntie just got a call and they told us that we will have the first class for sure but the others they aren’t sure”

Kevin was worried that his brother wouldn’t like it and refuse to go to school, “Okay, I understand”

“Will you be alright with that?”

“Ne, don’t worry. I’m strong I think I can handle this…”

“Alright, I just wanted to talk to you about that, good night” Kevin kisses his brother’s head and walks out, closing the door.

Aiden sighs and lays down again and stares at the ceiling “Umma, appa; are you and Deanna watching us? I hope so….I miss you guys….so much…” he whispers.

He gets up and packs up his things for the next day, his heart raced as he thought about school “I hope fate has something good in store for brother and me…” he says as he sets out his clothes.

With everything done he changes and lays in bed again, “Good night Umma, Appa, and Deanna….” He whispers before drifting to sleep.
