"Ki-ki, I'm gonna marry Jess when I grow up." a 6 year old James Choi said to his best friend. "No you're not Jamie. She's gonna marry the president. We're gonna get married. Remember?" replied the sassy little 5 year old climbing onto the jungle gym. "Yeah, I remember. I meant after we get married. Jess is the only woman for me. I'm gonna go share my play-doh with her." Jamie said leaving Kiara hanging and running towards Jessica. "Hi Jess! Wanna play with my play-doh?" Jamie said jumping up and down. "Sorry Jamie but I already promised Damien that I'd play with his play-doh with him. Maybe tomorrow?" She said walking away. Jamie held his head down and kicked a rock. Kiara walked behind him a patted his shoulder. "It's alright J. You still got me. Come on. It's time to go back inside. We're watching Barney and friends today." Kiara said pulling him towards the school building.

Jamie's Pov
"Are you serious right now Choi? You have a tail? What the hell are you doing?! I thought you wanted to date the girl, not become her pet. Take that off Jamie." My best friend of 12 years yelled. I sighed and took off the tiger outfit. "I don't see what the big deal is. Her favorite animal is a White Tiger and I wanted to impress her." I whined. She looked at me and rolled her eyes. "She also likes short skirts, red nail polish, and pumps. Are you gonna dress like a Forever 21 store too?" She said with her hands on her hips. "What are you two going on about now?" My little sister Jasmine said poking her head through the door. "Wassup Jazzy J? I'm trying to convince your brother that dressing as a girl's favorite pet to a Halloween party is lame and sorta strange." Kiara said plopping on my bed. Jasmine came all the way in the room and sat next to Kiara. "What do you want Jasmine? I'm trying to find a good costume for this stupid party." I said giving her a stink face. Jasmine is only a year younger than me but she's popular and hangs out with Jessica which is the only reason I'm letting her go to this party with me and Kiara. "Well James, I just wanted to ask Kiara why she likes to hang out with you again. I mean look at her. She's pretty, funny, smart. I just don't get it." Jasmine said smiling widely. "You know I love my Jamie. He does my homework and I cook him food. We have a good little system going on here." Kiara said walking towards me and struggling to put her arm over my shoulder. I was a good foot taller than her. "Whatever. I still have a month before this party. I need a new look. One I know she likes, because this is obviously not working for me. I'm about to take Kiara home. Do not go through my stuff Jasmine Min Choi." I said sternly grabbing my keys and waking out of the door. "Bye Ki-ki! I'm looking through your shrine of Jessica JAMES KYUNG CHOI!" She screamed as we were walking down the stairs. "You're leaving already Kiara? I made your favorite dish!" My mom said coming from the kitchen. "Sorry Mama C. I gotta wake up early in the morning so I can walk the neighbor's dogs." Kiara replied giving my mom a hug. "Let's go Ki." I said pulling her out of the door. "Always rushing. So what are we gonna do for my birthday. I'm gonna be the big 1-8." She said smiling and getting into my car. "We're gonna do something big. Don't worry. You still gonna help me find an outfit right? I need to impress her before we go to college and-" Kiara's cell phone cut me off. "Sorry J, hello? Yeah. Jamie is just dropping me off. You're where?! Omg, yes! I'll be ready by 12. Bye. Love you too." She said hanging up. She did a little dance in her seat and kept silently screaming. "So?" I asked. "Huh? Oh! Alex is taking me to see this new band. I'm so excited." She said dreamily. I rolled my eyes at the mention of her jock boyfriend. He hates that me and Kiara are so close and tries to keep us apart. "Come on J. I know you don't like him, but maybe I could convince him to get you a ticket too?" She said holding onto my arm. "What? No. Just go have fun. I'll pick you up tomorrow morning." I said pulling up to her house and kissing her forehead. "You know you don't have to change who you are to get a girl right? I mean, you're fine the way you are. Love you J baby!" She said running out of the car and into her house. I shook my head and headed home.
Kiara's Pov
I ran into my house and tripped over everything trying to hurry to my room. "Ki, why are you running? Calm down." My father yelled. "Can't. Alex is gonna be here soon!" I yelled back finally getting to my room. I heard him come into my room and huffing. "Is Jamie going with you? I don't trust Alex. Jamie has a good head on his shoulders." He said sitting on my bed. "Dad! We've been through this. Jamie is my best friend. I won't date him. Now how does this dress look? Too flashy?" I asked him spinning around. "Hmm. I wouldn't wear it. Put on those heels I bought you last week. Now that's an outfit!" My dad said jumping up and clapping. The best thing about having a gay couple adopt me is that I get the best shopping advice and guy advice. "I wish your papa could his little girl. Her fashion sense has bloomed! Now, if she could just use her powers for good and help out Jamie.." My dad said trailing off. "Very funny dad. Papa is working late again? I feel like I haven't seen him in years." I said pouting and sitting at my vanity area. My dad came over and applied my make-up. "It hasn't been years, but yes. He'll be in London until next week. All done. Now I want you to come straight home. Understand?" My dad said as he finished my make-up. I nodded and gave him a hug. "What do you want to do for your birthday? It's in a few weeks. I love that your birthday is on Halloween!" He said giggling. "I'm not sure. I know me, Jamie, and Jazz are going to Jess' party. Jamie promised that we'll do something after that." I replied and smiled. I checked my phone and saw that Alex messaged me saying he was outside. I waved to my dad and walked outside. "Yo Ki! You looking good girl." I heard Alex's friends yell from the backseat of the SUV. I cocked my head to the side and scrunched my face in confusion as I opened up the passenger door. "Hey guys. I thought it was just gonna be me and Alex tonight." I said laughing a little. "Why would you think that? This concert is gonna be the plug! I swear Drake is gonna kill it." Alex said pulling off and speeding. "Drake? I thought we were going to that underground band?" I said looking at him. He looked at me and laughed. "If I knew others were coming I would've invited Jamie. He hates Drake but he still would've came." I said looking at my phone. "No one wants him here. He's so weird." Someone said from the backseat. "You two are always together. It's like he's your boyfriend and not Alex" someone else said. I sighed and looked out the window. We arrived at the concert and met up with more people. I was really wishing Jamie was here because I was feeling very lonely. I saw Jessica get out of her car and walk towards us. "Wassup Ki baby?" She said as she neared me. I waved and kept looking at my phone. "Where's Jamie? You are always with him. I think he likes you." She continued as we walked into the building. I stopped walking and stared at her. "Trust me, I'm not the one he likes. We're JUST friends anyway." I said wiggling my nose. She laughed and nodded. During the entire concert I played games on my phone and checked Tumblr. After the concert, Alex dropped everyone off and it was just me and him in the car. "What's up with you? You've been quiet the whole time. I bet if Jamie was here you'd be talking a mile a minute." He said with an attitude. "What the hell is that supposed to mean Alex?" I snapped back. "Nothing. I didn't mean it. Look, since I apparently ruined our date, how about I pick you up in the morning?" He said rubbing my thigh. I moved his hand off and nodded. "Yeah, sure.". He pulled up to my house and gave me a short kiss. I got out of the car and walked into the house. "How was the concert?" Dad asked. "It's was a Drake concert. What do you think daddy?" I said taking off my shoes. He laughed and walked away. I went into my room and took a shower. "Hey, I'll see you in school. Alex is picking me up in the morning. Love you!" I said in a text to Jamie. I waited for a reply and figured he was sleep when I didn't get one. I shrugged and turned off my light.
