Tears poured down Sooyoung’s face as she stumbled her way through the hospital. Her sister, who was carrying her baby boy followed closely behind her.

 

“Youngie, Yoo-bin’s been in a car accident.”

 

Soojin’s words kept replaying over in her mind, making her all the while frightful and scared for her daughter’s live. This couldn’t be happening she thought, her daughter was still very young and she wasn’t ready to lose her yet.

 

The brunette brought her hands to as tears continued pouring down. Her mind was in turmoil, in denial. Yoobin couldn’t have been into an accident, it couldn’t be. She tried affirming herself that it was all just a sick joke. That Yoobin was probably hanging out with her father somewhere else.

 

But no matter how much she tried reason with herself, she couldn’t help but believe it. Siwon wouldn’t phone her and made jokes like this, he wasn’t the type to. The panic and dreadful feeling in her grew stronger as she kept thinking about it.

 

It was in this situation, that she wished Siwon was pulling a prank on her. She had never wanted him to lie so badly.

 

“PLEASE DOCTOR! YOU HAVE TO SAVE HER!”

 

Both Sooyoung and Soojin stopped as they looked straight ahead of the infinite corridor. Though their vision was obstructed by the group of medics, crowding the bed ridden patient into the operation theatre, the person who popped right out alongside the paramedics from the corner of the corridor at the far end told them that, to their horror, it was in fact Yoobin.

 

They watched on as Siwon begins holding onto to a doctors’ coat, begging the man to save his daughter’s live.

 

“PLEASE! YOU HAVE TO SAVE HER! SHE’S JUST A LITTLE GIRL! PLEASE DOCTOR YOU HAVE TO!” Siwon begged as his legs start to give themselves away.

 

“M-Mr Choi, please calm down, we’ll do our best to save your daughter.”

 

The surgeon left shortly afterwards into the operation theatre to begin their surgery. Siwon slumped backwards against the beige colour wall as he watched as the sign on top the operation room begin to light up into a nasty red colour. He couldn’t stop crying for his little girl. Siwon looked down to his hands, which were tainted with Yoobin’s blood. His vision starts to blur from his tears as he gazed at them.

 

This was his entire fault.

 

He begun to blame himself, if only he had watched her more closely, she wouldn’t be in this life and death situation. Guilt began to overcome him as he starts to grit his teeth. He wanted to scream and claw at himself so badly for leaving her alone.

 

Reaching into his pocket, Siwon then fishes out the piece of bloodied A3 paper, the one that Yoobin had rushed out to the open road to fetch back. It was the piece of drawing she drew back then when she came over his house that day.

 

Siwon didn’t have much time to brood about the picture that Yoobin drew. He felt eyes upon him at the right side. Turning slowly, he finds the choi siblings staring at him. The panic and guilt that aroused within him doubled up in intensity as he saw Sooyoung.

 

Siwon’s mouth quavered as he forced himself to stand. He moved slowly to approach the brunette.

 

“Y-Youngie..”

 

That was all he got to saw before a hand flew to his face, the hardest and most painful slap he ever felt was awarded to him by Sooyoung.

 

Soojin screamed as she saw Sooyoung’s hand connected with his face. She knew the way Sooyoung would react when she met face to face with Siwon, but that didn’t stop her heart from springing.

 

Dropping the piece of drawing, Siwon then touched the part where Sooyoung had just slapped him, He looks up to the teary face brunette as she then begins to behave violently.

 

“HOW COULD YOU CHOI SIWON!” Sooyoung screams at him, taking a step towards him as she grabs him by his t-shirt, which was stained with Yoobin’s blood. Pushing him against the wall, she starts to strike him aimlessly, not caring whether people were staring at them. “HOW COULD YOU HOW COULD YOU HOW COULD YOU!!! HOW COULD YOU HAVE LET THIS HAPPENED TO MY BABY GIRL?! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO WATCH HER!”

 

“Youngie! Stop hitting him!” Soojin cried out, all the while pacifying the baby boy in her arms. She moved towards her sister, trying to pry her off Siwon but she wouldn’t budge.

 

Sooyoung only stopped when she didn’t have the energy left to hit him anymore. She backs away as she then begins to weep bitterly for her daughter. She leans back against the wall before slumping down to the floor.

 

“Y-Youngie, I-if you would...ju-st h-hear me out.” Siwon voice wavered as he walks a little closer to Sooyoung. He stretches his hand forward towards her, only to have them whammed away.

 

“I DON’T WANT TO HEAR YOU EXPLANATIONS!” she screamed at him before pointing an accusing finger at him. “THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! MY SWEETHEART WOULDN’T BE IN THERE IF IT WEREN’T FOR YOU! I HATE YOU!”

 

“Youngie stop screaming please! You’re scaring Sangie!” Soojin whimper as she begins to pat the boy’s back. As she did so, she turned to Siwon’s direction, giving him a sympathetic look before she advised him to leave.

 

Siwon refused to leave, how could he leave her in the lurch like this? Yoobin needed him and he needed to be here.

 

But in return, all he received was more hateful comments by the mother of the child.

 

“SHE’S NOT YOUR DAUGHTER! YOOIE DOESNT NEED YOU! YOOIE AND SANGIE DOESN’T HAVE A FATHER LIKE YOU! SCRAM, GO FAR AWAY! DON’T YOU DARE SHOW YOUR FACE EVER AGAIN!”

 

“Y-Youngie, pleas-e..”

 

“Siwon, please just go!” Soojin cuts him off tearfully. She didn’t want to chase him away, but seeing as how Sooyoung would flip if they were in the same room, he was going to have to leave.

 

Siwon just stared at Sooyoung as she buried her face into her hands. He wanted so much to stay with them, to see Yoobin. But it seems that it was never going to happen. Slowly, he begins to stride away from the duo.

10 August 2012

 

“Yooie, sweety please wake up. Please.”

 

It’s been 2 days since the accident. 2 days since any of the Choi family got to sleep. Yoobin had managed to pull through the surgery, but she was not out of danger yet. The doctor in charge of taking care of her had informed Sooyoung that the next few days would be crucial for Yoobin. If she doesn’t wake up in the next 1 week or so, they would eventually have to pull the plug.

 

Words flew about and soon, many came to know of Yoobin’s condition. Close friends and family members came to pay their visit to the little girl. Sooyoung’s family were distraught at the news of the accident and since then, the past 2 days have been really hard to coop with for both grandparents of the little child. Grand mama choi was so depressed, she cried herself to sleep the past 2 nights.

 

Even Soojin, whose assignments and deadlines that needed to be handed in took a few days off, just so that she could help watch over Sooyoung and her 2 kids. She couldn’t help but feel inadequate, there was her niece, lying on the bed currently suffering.

 

The thought of her niece passing away tormented her, but all that couldn’t compare to what Sooyoung was feeling now. She was the one most affected by her condition.

 

“S-Sweety, can’t you hear mummy? Wake up Yooie...w-wake up..plea-se..y-you been taking your nap for 2 days already.”

 

It pained her. Seeing all sorts of funny looking needles and tubes hooked up to the girl’s small frame, Sooyoung couldn’t help but feel at a lost.

 

“Youngie. y-you need to rest.” Soojin placed a hand on Sooyoung’s shoulder. “You can’t keep this up, look at you, it’s been 2 days and you haven’t even gone home or eaten anything.”

 

Sooyoung made no attempt to answer back, she just stay seated where she was, clutching onto Yoobin’s hand tightly as she looked on at her daughter.

 

“Youngie, listen to unnie. Go back home and rest.”

 

The brunette shook her head, shutting her eyes as she brought Yoobin’s hand to . She planted a kiss on it as a tear fell onto the girl’s hand.  

 

“I-I want to stay with her unnie.” Sooyoung croaked, never tearing her eyes off Yoobin. “She needs her mummy here with her.”

 

“What she needs Youngie, is for you to go back and rest.” Soojin responded.

 

“I-I’m not leaving my ba-by girl alone.” Sooyoung whimpers as she begins to get emotional again.

 

Soojin tries once more to convince her, but all sooyoung did was to bury herself into Yoobin’s chest as she starts to shake her head, not wanting to part with her little one.

 

Soojin stops speaking for a moment, bending down to level herself with Sooyoung. She slowly puts her hand around her sister as she starts to comfort her.

 

“Youngie, have this e-ver, ever crossed your mind?” Soojin started. “That what if you fall ill from fatigue? How are you ever going to look after Yooie if that happens?” Soojin tries to rationalize with her.

 

Sooyoung slowly lifts her head up, looking at her sister as her words starts to evoke something in her. Soojin was right, she couldn’t keep this up, even if she didn’t like the thought of leaving Yoobin’s side, she was going to need to in order to better take care of her.

 

“Go home alright dear?”

 

The slim woman finally nods her head. Soojin assisted her in standing up. Sooyoung then makes her way to Kyungsan, who was sleeping in his stroller. Only to have Soojin stop her from bringing him back, and informing her that she would take care of him for the time being. Sooyoung thanks her, before carefully planting a kiss on the little boy’s face and his hair.

 

“Don’t worry about him Youngie, I’ll take good care of him.” Soojin reassures her once more Sooyoung nods and ushers herself out the room.

“Wonnie! I know you’re in there! Come on buddy, open up!”

 

Siwon made no attempt to answer his door. He just sprawls back against his couch as he let himself immerse in sorrow and self reproach. He had gotten news from his younger sister, Jiwon, about Yoobin’s condition. He hadn’t gone to work or done anything productively since then, all he did was to lock himself in his house.

 

“Wonnie, it’s been 2 days, come on you can’t keep this up, open the door!”

 

Several knocks accompanied Yunho’s voice to the door, but that didn’t provoke the man to move an inch towards the front door. Tears begin forming in the man’s eyes as he touches the frame in his hands. He had a hand cupping his forehead as he fixed his eyes on the photo. Tears finally dropped as the photo triggered memories to start engulfing his mind.

 

The young couple were leaning back against their head lock, almost ready to turn in the night soon. The husband was busy finishing up the last few sentences of his newspaper when his wife suddenly took them away from him.

 

“oppa, oppa! Give me your hand! Quickly!” sooyoung squealed as she speedily placed Siwon’s hands on her baby bump.

 

Siwon arched his brows, looking at the beautiful woman with a very puzzled look, her eyes glittered with anticipation. 10 seconds flew past, but nothing occurred.

 

“What are you doing Youngie?” Siwon asked, perplexed as he withdrew his hand from Sooyoung’s tummy.

 

“Awwww! You missed it again oppa!” The brunette whines, glowering playfully at him as she explained herself. “Yoobin was kicking me.”

 

Siwon’s eyes popped opened as he looks at her incredulously.

 

“S-She was-AND I MISSED IT AGAIN?!” Siwon groans loudly in frustration, resulting in Sooyoung slapping Siwon’s arm.

 

“Not so loud oppa!!! You don’t want to scare Yooie right?” Sooyoung scolds him as she childishly placed her hands on her tummy.

 

“Aish it’s not as if she can hear me!” Siwon groans once more. He hated the fact that he hadn’t felt his baby’s kick. “This is stupid honey! Our Yoobin is almost close to 8 months old, and I have yet to feel her kick!”

 

Sooyoung giggles at Siwon, she rests her head on his broad shoulder as the man in turn holds an arm over hers’. Sooyoung starts to rub circles on Siwon’s chest.

 

“Maybe you should just leave your hand on my tummy oppa. You never know, Yoobin might start kicking me again.” Sooyoung says, once more grabbing the older man’s hand and placing it on her tummy.

 

Siwon sighs before resting his head on top of hers. They were both silent for awhile, just enjoying each other’s presence.

 

“Oppa.” Sooyoung suddenly spoke, tilting her head upwards to Siwon.

 

“Yea babe?” he replies, rubbing her tummy.

 

“Do you ever think that I’ll be able to be a good mother?”

 

Siwon lifts his head as he stares at Sooyoung, half amused at what she was saying.

 

“Why the sudden question babe?” Siwon chucks, only to have Sooyoung pout at him.

 

“Answer the question oppa.” She playfully swats him on the chest.

 

Siwon laughs slightly before pulling Sooyoung closer to his side.

 

“Well, I think you’re going to be a great mother to our kids’ youngie.” Siwon says sincerely, meaning every single word he said.

 

“What makes you think so?” Sooyoung asks him.

 

The older man brings his hand up to his chin. “Hmmm let’s see. Well, it’s because you’re a really caring person. You adore kids and you’re patient with them. You think of others before yourself. That’s what makes me think you’re good to be a swell mother.”

 

Sooyoung smiles at his words, but she quickly replaces it with a slight frown. Catching a glimpse of her expression, Siwon then pushes her chin up to make her look at him, he smiles at her.

 

“What’s wrong Youngie?” Siwon asks her.

 

“N-nothing.” She replies. “Its just, I’m scare oppa.”

 

Siwon smiles once more at her, before moving in to plant a soft and sweet kiss on her lips then parting. He her cheeks with his thumb as he leaned his forehead against hers.

 

“Seriously oppa, what if I fail?” Sooyoung asks. “What if I’m not able to take care of Yoobin properly? Look at me, I can’t even do the simple choirs of a house wife. I can’t stay at home because of my work, I can’t do the laundry, I can’t even cook for nuts! How am I-mmmm“

 

Siwon cuts her off when he placed a hand over . “Alright, that’s enough out of you silly woman. How about we worry about all that when little baby Yoobin arrives?”

 

Sooyoung bats his hand away from . “No oppa, I can’t.”

 

Siwon laughs as he pinched her nose. “You know Youngie, you really don’t have to worry about that. You see, you can always stop your work as a teacher for awhile, so you can spend some time taking care of our baby. Then, when she’s old enough, we can start bringing her to her grandparent’s house, get them to look after her and spend time with her. You can go back to teaching, though you have to cut down your working time.”

 

“What about-“

 

“Laundries? Ah, we can always throw them into the washing machine right? And who cares whether you can’t cook or not. Honey, you should know me, I’m not a picky fellow, and I don’t think you will have problems making milk for Yooie right?”

 

“oppa.” Sooyoung mutters, touched by what he had said. she moves in to kiss him.

 

“Yeap, what else is there-Oh?” Siwon suddenly says as both him and Sooyoung looked at each other, with the same expressions on their face.

 

“D-Did i?” Siwon stuttered as Sooyoung begins to nod her head and grin.

 

“Yes oppa, you did.” Sooyoung replied. “You finally felt Yooie kicked.”

 

Siwon’s face immediately lit up as he suddenly stood up, unable to contain his excitement.

 

“I finally felt my baby girl kicked!!!”

 

Sooyoung stares at him in shock, all the while hanging her jaw low as she watches her husband jump around.

 

“I FELT YOOBIN KICKED!”

 

“oppa! Stop jumping!!”

 

Siwon looks back down at his wife, before going down to hold her. He places his head near her tummy as he suddenly kissed it.

 

“Yah! What the heck are you doing?!” Sooyoung smack him on his head. “Don’t go kissing my tummy like that!”

 

Siwon just ignores her, lovingly hugging her bump. “Yoobin, could you do daddy a favour and kick mummy again inside there?”

 

The brunette had to roll her eyes.

 

“Oppa don’t be such a klutz!”

Weeks passed by and soon, Siwon and Sooyoung found themselves in the delivery room, waiting for their firstborn to see the world. Loud and painful screams were escaping poor Sooyoung’s mouth as she begins to push.

 

 “Oppa....it hurts...so much!” Sooyoung cried as she tightens her hold on her husband’s hand. Oh the agony, her knuckles were turning white from all the squeezing.

 

“Youngie you can do it, I’m here!” Siwon says as he tensed up, looking on worriedly. He held on tightly to his wife’s hand.

 

“Mrs Choi, you’re going to need to push harder than that!” Dr Lee spoke as he took a glance over to both Sooyoung and Siwon.

 

“I....can’t...do it!” Sooyoung spoke with much difficulty. Siwon could only watch on as his wife endured the pain, the only thing he could do was to speak encouragement to her.

 

Giving birth was never an easy task for women to do.

Doctor Lee told them that they were taking a 20 second break before the next contraction starts. Hearing that, Sooyoung drops her head back down to the pillow as she looks at Siwon, sweat trickling down her forehead. Siwon leans his forehead against hers as he begins to start encouraging her.

“Babe, look at me, look at me, you can do it.” Siwon spoke, but Sooyoung shakes her head.

 

“It hurts a lot oppa, i-I really can’t do it.” tears starts to weld up in her eyes as she begins to cry. “I’m a bad mother.”

 

“No no, youngie come on, don’t give up. We’re almost there!“ Siwon exclaimed.

 

The brunette cried on and on, causing her husband to hug her comfortably.

 

“Alright Mrs Choi, let’s start pushing again.”

 

Sooyoung inhaled in deeply before starting again. Gritting her teeth, she started to push once more, trying hard to endure the pain.

 

“AHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

 

She drops her head back down to the pillow once more, unsuccessful in her attempt. Siwon looks at Sooyoung, her head. “You’re doing good honey. Just bear with it a little longer.”

 

“I can’t..i can’t.”

 

“Youngie come on-“

 

“Oppa, you do it for me.”

 

Siwon tried hard not to burst into laughter when he heard her say those words. Even in times like this, she still said the most retarded and cutest thing ever.

 

When she saw that he was trying to stifle his laugh, she started crying more.

 

“W-Why are you laughing at me?!”

 

“W-what? I’m not laughing-“

 

“YOU ARE! YOU JERK! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THIS HURTS?! AHHHH!”

 

Siwon quickly lost the smile on his face, immediately holding onto her as she begins to push again.

 

“oppa.....i-i....really can’t do this..” Sooyoung says, trying to string her sentence properly.

 

“Youngie I know you can do it, we’re this close to seeing Yoobin. Don’t give up. Come on, one more push, one final push!”

 

With that Sooyoung begins to push harder, jerking her head forward. While doing that, she accidentally head butts Siwon, causing the male to drop to the floor as the nurses look on in shock.

 

“O.....ppa..” Sooyoung called out to him in concern while still trying hard to deliver.

 

“I-I’m fine honey.” Siwon uttered as he got back up, rubbing his forehead.

 

“Oh gosh, you have no idea how much this hurts.”

 

Upon hearing that, both Sooyoung and Dr Lee stopped whatever they were doing and stared at Siwon. It took awhile for him to realise what he just said and when he did, he quickly changed the topic by asking them to continue on with the pushing.

 

“I see her head.” Dr Lee announced a little while later.

 

Hearing the doctor’s word spurs both Siwon and Sooyoung on.

 

“Youngie, come on! We’re halfway through, look at me, you can do this alright?

 

Sooyoung nods, this time giving everything she got. The pain and effort intensified, but it was worth it because soon, crying sounds were heard.

 

Author’s Notes: Alright people! I’m really trying best to get this fic done by the end of this week, it’s so stinking frustrating! If it so happens that I can’t finish this by the end of this week, then I apologise.
