Memories: Winter

The Difference Is

She sits in a dark room, her cheek pressed against the cold, hard glass. She runs her fingers around the broken frame, a chestnuts haired boy with a thin face and a smirking rebel in between them both, his arms wrapped around the girl’s shoulder. There is a small glint of jealously in the other boy’s eyes.

“I’m sorry,” She breaths out into the glass and she watches the fog fade away.

She spots a face glancing at her from behind. She exhales and wipes the dirty glass, her eyes darting back and forth to distinguish the face.

The overt face turns around and the boy’s sanguine face reveals a small, tired smile.

He presses his thumb on the glass and the girl steps back, gasping.

It’s him.

He swipes the glass and draws a happy face. She can’t take it anymore.

She lifts open the window and blinks; she grabs the boy by the collar and screams,

“SEHUN!”

Their amity rushes in Hana’s mind like a waterfall. She moves as if on instinct and grabs the boy’s hair, but swipes off his scarf instead. His scent is sweet, soothing, and ubiquitous in Hana’s life.

She swallows and wakes up next to Jongin ; he was staring at her the entire time with his palms pressed against his face. “Something the matter?” he says softly as he her hair.

“Ah..” she lowers her eyes and offers him a sanguine smile. “No..It’s fine, let’s go back to sleep.”

He nods and she bundles up next to his chest. His heart is beating slowly, steadily. “Y’know…I think Sehun is trying to tell me something in my dreams.” Jongin brushes his hair back and brings her closer.

“Hm…me too. Maybe he’s telling us he misses us or something.”

Jongin chuckles and his lips. “Still in between us even after he’s left the world.”

“He looked happy, though.” Hana yawns and closes her eyes.  She imagines the trio on a skiing trip to the mountains. Sehun forgot to bring gloves so she offered him an extra pair. They were tight, but Sehun was grateful. They sat side by side, watching snowflakes descending slowly.

Sehun turns to her and reveals a toothy laugh, his crescent eyes scintillate.

Hana stares in awe, and for a moment they lock eyes and say nothing. A patch of snow falls on Sehun’s beanie- Hana wakes up from her dream and finds Jongin outside the window, his hands stuffed in his pockets and his head looking above. He grins, and motions for Hana to join him.

It was snowing. She realizes she was sitting on something. She pulls out a light blue scarf that had Sehun’s familiar scent and presses it against her chest.

I was effing crying a bunch when I was reading this, whenever I read this kind of stories, sad songs are ready. I was listening to "A Bitter Day" & "Goodbye" from a drama OST as I read through this literary art piece of yours. You were indeed a great author and this deserves more subs. I got carried away by this story like the other readers. It's 1:35 am here in the Philippines and yet, I have managed to read this story. The story that makes me cry. To be honest, I was ignoring this story before I decided to read this, and I was hesitating to continue as I am in the foreword and guess what, I'm satisfied to what I have done!

You did a great job here ^^

With lots of love,

I have to say that this story was quite amazing/beautiful/sad/super angsty but I loved it. Since I was a bad person, I also looked at the comments right when I found this story. And I found out Sehun died. ;( natural instinct of a reader= look at comments before reading story. Resolution: readers (me) are stupid. LOL :)
Because I was a bit in a hurry, I skimmed your story quickly, so at the end, I still didn't realize that sehun died; I thought he just left. When I reread the story again, I finally realized that sehun died and the last couple of chapters were memories :'( such beautiful memories. I can't descide who is better between Sehun and Kai in my bias list, but today I was leaning towards Sehun. At first, I thought Sehun was a bit selfish, but I thought it would have been better if Hana ended up with him because of the way he cares for her- Sehun seemed very gentle while Kai (Jong In) seemed carefree, outgoing, and playful. Even though Hana loved Sehun, I think that her personality was more like Jong In's- playful but she was also very caring. Normally I dislike stories where one of the characters die, but this story was well written and just perfect with the memories as the ending, leaving bittersweet memories for us readers. The ending is just the best: having an awesome dream, and waking up to find that part of it was real. I'm glad that Kai/JongIn had a silent peaceful ending after Sehun died, and both Hana and him want Sehun back regardless of their past. Buti am curious about how the scarf got there- but that would be better if the reader used their imagination ^.^ I can't express my gratitude so THANK YOU X INFINITY! Please continue writing Exo angst stories ^.^ and sorry for my looooong comment I get carried away a lot :) THANK YOU AUTHOR! >.<
