Memories: Spring
The Difference Is
It’s the beginning of Spring, and Jongin hops on his bike and pedals to their favorite spot: the river.
Sehun and Hana are already there, laughing with joy.
Hana lifts up her long skirt and splashes Sehun repeatedly; she skips and almost trips on a rock.
Jongin grasps onto her wrist and shoots Sehun a dirty look. “I thought you said you’d protect her.”
She pushes him into the water and roars with laughter, Sehun hobbles over and helps him up.
“I am.”
Jongin starts to take off his shirt by the grass, Sehun wipes his neck and fans his aching feet.
Hana is still splashing in the river, her hair is completely soaked, but she’s still blabbing like an idiot and grinning from ear to ear.
“Stop looking at her that way, she’s not a piece of meat.” Sehun mumbles, and s his shirt.
“What’d you say?” Jongin grumbles and grabs Sehun by the collar. “You don’t even help her up when she falls--”
Sehun looks dead serious and his eyes burn into Jongin’s wrist.
He carefully lets go.
“Hey guys, are you done changing?” Her voice is crisp, and they both turn, “YEAH!”
“Well hurry up, the last one to get here has to buy ice cream for all of us!”
They both make a dash for it, Sehun pushes Kai into the river bank and links arms with her. “Too slow!” He snickers and Jongin can’t believe his eyes or ears.
“HANA, SEHUN HAS A BIG FAT CRUSH ON YOU!”
His voice trails off into the distance and all he hears are splashes coming his way.
She leans in and holds out a hand, “You babo. Don’t be so mean to Sehun.”
Sehun ran off to the convenience store to buy ice cream, and Hana came back for Jongin, afraid he was hurt.
If only she had come along with him.
