CHAPTER TEN
Nihongo“I STILL can not stop talking about it. That movie was super awesome!” Jiyoung exclaimed excitedly. “Right, Key-oppa?”
The older boy answered excitedly. “It so was! I’ve never liked Kristen Stewart before, but luckily Chris Hemsworth was there and the film wasn’t boring at all because of him!”
The four had managed to sneak into Nicole’s car without the public noticing, and the girl drove them straight to their destination.
She glanced in her rear view mirror at Key, who had demanded to sit at the back with Jiyoung so that they could discuss more on the movie they just watched.
Totally engrossed in their conversation, they totally ignored Nicole and the poor Taemin who sat in the front passenger seat, looking like he wished he hadn’t come with them that night. Nicole glanced at him and sighed.
“Oppa, don’t you just love how the special effects made the movie even more magical?” Jiyoung asked Key breathlessly. “The fairies’ sanctuary, especially, was so pretty…”
“You’re right, Jing! They chose the right lighting, colours and ambience to make that scene work…”
Grumbling, Nicole tuned out Key’s voice as she made a right turn into a busy street. ‘Sometimes this Kim Kibum is really useless. Whose idea was this again?’ she thought irritably.
She tried to drag Taemin into the discussion. “So what do you think, Taemin-goon?” she questioned loudly, effectively shutting up Key and Jiyoung, who both turned to look at Taemin expectantly.
Shocked to suddenly be under everyone’s gaze, Taemin gulped. “Er, yeah, it was really good. I agree with Jiyoung on the special effects, and how they gave life to the different scenes. They helped enhance the atmosphere in those scenes.”
Jiyoung gasped, grabbed his arm and grinned. “Right? Right? The scene in the dark forest was really scary, thanks to the special effects…”
Nicole jumped with joy inside, her pride almost bursting. ‘Another job well done by Nicole.’ To her irritation, that was the only thing Taemin said during the entire journey to the café, because Key and Jiyoung didn’t leave a single room for him to cut in. Not that he seemed like he wanted to.
“This whole thing is hopeless,” Nicole muttered, as she parked her vehicle.
Taemin looked on sadly as Jiyoung and Key were still jabbering away about the movie when they had sat down at a booth in a secluded corner of the almost-empty café.
Key had actually wanted to sit next to Jiyoung, but Nicole pushed him away so that she could sit next to the younger girl. After a short scuffle between the two older pair, Jiyoung ended up sitting facing Key, while Taemin sat next to him facing Nicole.
Taemin glanced at Nicole and was surprised to see her looking back at him with an apologetic look. It disappeared and replaced with determination and she turned to the talkative couple.
“Yah. Can we stop already with the movie?” Nicole scolded. “Fine, it is great. End of story.”
Key pouted. “We were just –“
“Whatever,” Nicole snapped. “You two talked and talked and ignored me and Taemin as if we’re not here at all. That’s just rude, Kibum.”
Jiyoung gulped nervously. She had never seen Nicole this angry. “Unnie, I’m really sorry,” she whined, practically on the verge of crying. “It’s just that I’ve wanted to see the movie really badly and then it turned out to be better than I expected and I was really happy –“
“Noona,” Taemin calmly cut in, “I’m sure they didn’t mean to ignore the both of us. Key-hyung can get carried away sometimes. You know that. And Jiyoung is just passionate about the
