Chapter 1

Dancing With Noodles - An Exo Fanfic

Sophies P.O.V

She was finally here, finally at S.M Entertainment in Korea. Finally a Trainee. Sophies’ feet slowly carried her up the main stairs of the building as she stared around in awe at the structure encasing her. It took her 4 years to get here, but it was worth it.

She was currently on her way to a Dance Studio which would be hers for the duration of her Trainee days. Studio 13. She repeated, ingraining it into her brain. Studio 13, Studio 13. She nearly reached the top of the stairs when she stood on her shoelace, tripping her up. As she fell she dropped her bag and it fell back down the flight of stairs causing a fit of light giggles to erupt in the girl groups around her.

Great, her first day and she is already making a fool of herself. She quickly descended the stair and ran back up them to make up for lost time. Once in the hall way she noticed a bathroom opposite the main studios. She quickly popped in and checked herself over. 2 other girls were on their way out and she couldn’t help but notice their slim figures, flawless faces and perfect hair. She looked herself over in the mirror, looking at the wavy wacky brown hair she had that never acted the same way twice. Her eyes that could never decide whether they were green or grey. The scars she had on her elbows and knees, not to mention the marks on her skin from chicken pox. She was also a little on the big side. She would be considered curvy, but next to those girls she looked fat. She looked nothing like a dancer.

She wasn’t exactly unattractive, she was just different. She was from Australia and grew up in the sun and surf. She knew how to speak fluent Korean, but she usually talked in English out of habit. The girls over here were so different to her, and she stuck out like a sore thumb. With her big hips and s. Muscly thighs from working on a farm. Tanned skin. In her country she was considered beautiful. But here, she looked like a clown.

She made her way out of the bathroom, earphones in, blocking the stares and world around her, finally spotting the studio. Her favourite song came on and she couldn’t help but dance as she walked towards the large door. Shake it Like a Pom Pom by Missy Elliot was the song that reminded her of home. She had to dance to this song. It was basically a rule for her.

She opened the door and danced her way in dumping her stuff near the doorway and popping and locking her way down the studio before leaping and landing on the floor in a perfect pose. She slowly rose to her feet and turned pulling her earphones out of her ears.

To her surprise she heard sobbing. Somebody was crying, sounded like multiple people actually. She looked up and saw 10, no 12 boys on the side of the studio, two of whom were in tears, and the rest didn’t look far behind. But they had suddenly all looked up at her on entry, and she didn’t feel comfortable with being stared at. It then occurred to her, she may have walked in the wrong studio, wouldn’t be the first fail she had today. She was the clumsiest dancer she had ever met.

She fell into a deep bow before retreating to the front door grabbing her stuff on the way. She thought she heard somebody call out but she continued down the hall looking for Studio 13. She finally found it and marked it on her map before checking the time. It was 3 o’clock. She had to get to work before 4:30. She jogged outside and called a cab, dropping her stuff off at her motel, the purple sunset, before making her way to the restaurant she was working at. The downside of being 16 and living without her parents, you had to pay for your own stuff and bills were now important. Mum and Dad sent her money once a week but she never used it. She had to make a living herself, that money was her emergency funds.

She arrived 15 minutes late and received a few harsh words from Mr Kim before falling back into her old pace, making and preparing noodles like she used to in Aus at a similar resteraunt. As she tossed noodles the boss called for her to work the tables. Obviously one of the waitresses called in sick and the others were getting swamped. Mr Kim took her spot at the wok and she grabbed a note pad.

She loved cooking but it was nice to have a break once in a while, actually getting to communicate with people. She was on her fifth order when a large group of guys walked in the door. About 5 of them. They took the back booth in the corner and begun to talk amongst their-selves. She looked over at Seungy-Sek the other waitress to ask if she had seen them before but the young girl just blushed and went back to serving.

Okaaaaaay?” Sophie said under her breath before going up to take their order.

She stepped infront of their table, putting on her best serving girl smile. “How can I help you today?” She looked up at the boys and almost gasped. They were some of the boys from the studio. “Hahaha well this is embarrassing.” She whispered to herself in English and went back to being Serving-Girl Sophie. She thought she saw the eldest of the boys smile at her comment, but it was a passing expression and Sophie chose to ignore it.

She felt someone brush past her hallway through ordering and sit down. The boy received a few remarks about being late but the boys bowed slightly to him and were overall warm to the late arriver. As she actually saw the 6th boy of this party her heart almost fell through her stomach. He was beautiful, in a strangely masculine way. She continued to order but studied the boy in her peripheral vision. He wasn’t over the top attractive, but there was just something about him that made her curious. He had light brown Mousy hair and dark chocolate brown eyes. He looked skinny at a glance but as she looked down she could see he had lean muscle all over his arms. Dancer muscles. He looked quite young, maybe 18 or 19 but the sombre look on his face aged him by maybe 2 years. She estimated about 20, maybe 21.

Oky Sophie, stop staring at the hot boy and start working. Her conscience scolded at her and she listened to the leader rattle off 6 mains in fractured Korean, he was obviously not a local. He had a strange accent, sounded Canadian, maybe South Australian at a stretch. Must have spent sometime over seas.

She finished taking their order, hoping she got everything, and walked away assuring them it wouldn’t take long. As she turned her back and walked away she caught the conversation that begun between two of them.

“Was that the g-“ the first one said, his voice surprisingly quiet.

“Yeah, I think it was.” The second one replyed, a faint accent in his voice. Must have been the older boy who ordered for his friends.

“What is she doing here?” Asked the first one.

“No idea.” The second replied again.

“She’s kinda cute.” A third piped up, a strong and soothing voice.

“Now is not the place LuHan, nor the time.” The second scolded. Okay obviously something wasn’t going okay for these guys.

Sophie walked back around the counter fixing up all the orders, trying to ignore the converstion replaying in her head. Why did they remember her, and what was up with the older one to make him so frustrated.
