Her eyelids were threatening to close on her, but she struggled to keep them open.   Beside her, a comforting, gentle hand caressed her cheek. She glanced over, ignoring the growing discomfort in her body, and softened when she saw Baekhyun smiling down at her.   Tears were welled up in his eyes. “Good morning, my Naeun.”   Naeun understood immediately. This was her last day to live. A churning feeling sunk into the pit of her stomach, making the pains worse.   Biting back a sob, she weakly smiled, “Good morning… my… Baekhyun.”   Baekhyun softened at her crackling voice and slid his hand on top of hers. His body language made her feel a little bit better. It told her that he would be by her side today, no matter what.   Naeun gazed at Baekhyun’s quivering lips.   “…Don’t cry…” She hummed, “Don’t… cry…”   Abruptly, he turned away from her and wiped his tears away. A moment passed, and he turned back to Naeun with a smile three shades too bright.   “Araso. I won’t…cry.” He grabbed a damp towel from her side-table and patted it on her forehead, which was breaking out in cold sweat. Naeun relished the moment.   “…Did you… stay here… the whole night…?” Naeun breathed, her voice suddenly wanting to give out. She felt exhausted, but her heart told her not to give in. *No. This is the last day. Please let me live it to the fullest. Don’t let me give up halfway…* Determination to last until the final moment of her life rose in her chest. She had to live, no matter how much it hurt her.   Baekhyun traced circles on the top of her right hand. “Yes, I stayed the night.” He tried to calm himself down first before making a joke. “You have quite a habit of talking in your sleep, you know.”   Naeun shot him a pointed look and he laughed. A sorrow filled her heart. *Maybe this will be the last time I’ll ever hear his laugh.* A thin smile took over her lips. She had to be strong, for him.   “Naeun-ah…?” Baekhyun began.   Naeun stared at him.   “Is there… anything you want to do today?” He questioned quietly. Naeun blinked in surprise. *He’s taking me out?*   “We can go anywhere you want today. Anywhere. Nothing is off limits.” He promised.   Naeun fully knew of his intentions to make her happy. She grinned, nodding. Baekhyun’s eyes twinkled, “What do you want to do? Tell me, and we’ll do it.”   “…F…” Naeun tried to say it, but it hurt to breathe.   “F?”   “F…Fly…ing.” She murmured. “I want to fly.”   Baekhyun’s eyes widened in amazement for a second, but then he broke out into a small smile, “So you want to fly… do you?”   Naeun sent him a gaze filled with willpower. She nodded once.   Seeing Naeun lying in bed looking so powerless made Baekhyun doubt that she had enough strength to even walk three steps, but the determination in her eyes made him agree.   He softly smiled, “I’ll get your food and your pills. After you take another little rest, we can go.”   Naeun meekly smiled at him as he smoothed her forehead with his long fingers. *You’re such a strong girl. To think that I was the one that made you like this…* He felt a pang of guilt, but quickly pushed it away. *No. I can’t think like that.
