Jay tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear, staring at the empty chair in front of her.

He's over an hour late, she scowled at the gift sitting on her lap. A ring that she'd thoughtfully picked out and wrapped oh-so carefully in a box a few hours before.

"Excuse me, miss. Are you still waiting?" the waiter asked, pointing at the unused dishware, for what seemed the billionth time since he'd seated Jay.

"No," she sighed, getting up and walking towards the exit. "I'll just leave, thank you."

"Jay!" someone behind her called as she left the swanky restaurant. "Jagiya! (Sweetheart!) Wait up!"

She didn't need to turn around to know who called. Anger rolled off her body in waves, and moisture gathered at the corners of her eyes. Jay continued to walk briskly, ignoring her boyfriend.

"Jagiya!" Taemin caught up to her and held onto her wrist. "Listen, Jagiya, I'm sorry I'm late, but manager-hyung wouldn't let me leave. I had to sneak out of the dorm." He reasoned with Jay, trying to make her face him. "Maybe.. maybe next time we'll go out together. Just you and me one day, I promis—"

"'I promise! I promise!'" Jay bitingly imitated her boyfriend. "You always say that, and it never happens." She brought her free hand to her face, trying to wipe away the embarrassing tears that always fell whenever she was mad. "And you couldn't even pull through for today. Really, Taemin. I'm starting to wonder if you're worth all this—.. this heartbreak." She turned to him.

"W—... what're you tryin—" Taemin stared dumbfoundedly at the teary-eyed angel in front of him.

"I think we should break up."

The boy blinked, unsure of what to say.

"Ever since you joined that stupid music company, it's like you don't even have ti—.. time for us!" Jay continued. "I don't even think you care anymore. Like—.. like you're just walking away from this relationshi—" She turned to leave.

"Don't say that." Taemin said darkly, grabbing her wrist again. "Don't you even sa—"

Smack. Jay slapped him across the face.

"Don't touch me." She said stiffly, ignoring the bypassers that watched this little love-bird quarrel. "If you cared, you would've made time for tonight. Especially tonight. It's our AN-NI-VER-SA-RY." Jay said, enunciating each syllable. Taemin made a move to wipe away her tears, but she flinched from his touch. "I swear to God, Lee Taemin, if you ing touch me again, I'm gonna kick your so hard you'll be ting rainbows from your mouth." She stormed away in fury, though still within ear-shot.

"Do you think I want to work 24/7? Do you know how much it breaks my heart to be away from all my friends and family? How much I sacrifice? No? I don't think you do!" He huffed. "Well, that's not important, because in the end, I have you. And if you think I don't care about you, then you are dead wrong." Earning no response, he continued. "So who's walking away from this relationship again?!" Taemin repeated what she'd said earlier, yelling at Jay's back, provoking her.

"Say it again." Jay swiveled around, finding herself too far away from him to hit. He was turning her world upside down. With a frustrated squeak, she chucked the gift she brought at his perfect face. "ing !" Jay ran away from the love of her life as fast as her heels allowed her too, wiping away tears as she went.

Tired of chickflicks and moping around home like your stereotypical teenaged girl, Jay flipped through the channels of her widescreen, looking for something interesting to watch.

Her thumb on the remote froze as she realized she was watching live feed from SHINee's concert taking place at the Seoul Music Hall downtown. Jay couldn't bring herself to switch the channels, only stared at the performers as the camera zoomed in and around them.

A panorama of the crowd was interrupted by a close-up of Taemin singing into the microphone. On his right hand, the hand that held the mic, was a ring. Jay looked closer. The ring she'd bought for him for their anniversary. The ring that she'd intended on giving to him as a gift. The ring which she threw at him just last night.

The song ended, and Taemin stepped forward.

"This song we just sang, I dedicated to Chan Jay." Jay fell off the couch, eyes glued to the screen. "Jagiya, saranghaeyo. (I love you.)"

And Jay smiled. Her world had been righted again.
