Jinah's P.O.V

After visiting Na Young at the hospital (which by the way smelled like baby powder and rotting oatmeal) my parents and Lu Han's parents decided to go out to dinner. Sigh. So I was there, stuck in the middle of their conversations about golf and yoga, staring at an overly decorated jazz-themed wall.

Glorious.

I really hoped that Na Young was okay... Seriously? Taco truck? I remember Baekhyun stopping by our house at one in the morning, not even knocking on our door, and bursting in to tell us that she was lying in some cot at the hospital after being hit by a moving Spanish meat truck.

Hm. Which brings me to my next point. Where was Lu Han? Eh, he's hardly at home anyway. I heard that he was training at SM with Na Young. It was pretty funny because their debut's pretty soon. How did I find out?

Like this:

Flashback

"Stupid Lu Han and his stupid debut and his stupid little Exo M and his stupid little online debut and his ridiculously stupid amount of teasers." Na Young mutters through her clenched teeth while organizing her closet.

A hanger clangs onto the floor.

"I,"

Another hanger.

"Really..."

Another hanger.

"Why is it so hard to hate you?"

And that was about a week ago.

Since my grades weren't the best, I searched up some high school honor society tutors that were available today. Turns out, there were. Thank goodness. 

So here I was, peacefully staring out the window of my car. My parents and Lu Han's parents are casually talking about things and such. I was on my way to the Seoul International Library. 

Once the car stops, I step out into the warm night air. Students in all sorts of uniforms flock the entrance of the library. I give my mom a wave and a thank you to Lu Han's parents and clutch my bag tightly. I wonder who would be my tutor. Some anonymous nerd? Not that I'm complaining, I'm actually in need of that now.

I skip up the marble steps (ooh, fancy) of the library and am welcomed by the whoosh of air conditioning. It wasn't that hot out, so it felt like a freezer in there. But, at least the room felt crisp and clean.

I glance back at my phone to check where the meeting place was. Hm, the flag circle?

I walk past long bookcases and round tables. It honestly felt like a huge maze, trying to get out of there. Might I also say that this library was pretty grand. 

Soon, I come to a clearing of tile floor. Squinting, I make out some tall posts. Those must be the flags. I stride closer and closer to see many students casually talking. Some were sipping on their Starbucks lattes or texting. 

Why even come to the library when you're not going to study? 

I bite the inside of my cheek and look for anyone who might also be waiting for someone. See, I didn't really know who this person was. All I had was his/her number. 

I rock back and forth on my heels while spotting a distant figure. The silhouette seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. As the moving figure comes closer, I immediately notice who it was. Just my luck. It was Kai.

"Kai," I mutter in surprise. 

"Missed me?" He smiles, although his tone is teasing. I get a whiff of his spicy cologne. Mm...

So... he wasn't... bothered by my rejection? I mean, wow that makes me sound conceited, but he really didn't mind?

My eyes gaze over his alluring eyes and soft looking hair. Did he do this on purpose? To get revenge on me? Well, then, I won't let it work.

"What brings you here?" I continue, like nothing had ever happened between us.

"I'm tutoring some kid." He shrugs, casually checking his iphone. 

Some kid.

A few moments later he adds, "named Joon Ah."

Joon Ah. Where have I heard that name before? It sounded quite familiar. And no, I wasn't upset that Kai wasn't my tutor. Not upset at all... no. 

Ah! I remember. Psh, now that I think about it, how could I have forgot? Joon Ah happened to be one of the most popular girls at school. Oh hoho, fabulous. Every inch of her was graceful, almost like, even though I hate saying it, a princess. There, I said it. Every girl's self esteem would hit rock bottom once she stepped into the room. 

And it really didn't help that she could be Im Yoona's long lost identical twin. 

But then, you couldn't really hate her. She was kind, gentle, lovable amongst guys- and even girls. She gained respect from teachers and staff members everywhere. Practically the opposite of me. So basically everyone loved her, like a princess. Everyone loves princesses, don't they?

I slowly nod my head, getting rid of any thoughts about what Kai might think of Joon Ah. Would he think that she was pretty? Heck yeah. No one could deny it. Sigh.

From the corner of my eye, I spot another figure striding towards me. It was clearly a girl. Her strides were graceful, like a bee landing on a flower. That familiar hair also struck me. Yup, it was her. Should I tell him? I suppose I should do the right thing...

"She's right over there. Have fun," I mutter and back away quickly before Kai can say anything else. I really didn't want to see him drool over Ms. Perfect.

"Lee Jinah?" Someone taps my shoulder from the back. I jump at the sudden sound of the deep voice.

"Yeah, that's me." I say while scanning the person in front of me. 

"I'm Alex." Alex  smiles widely while pushing up his glasses with his other hand. He gives a friendly and sweet aura. He looks pretty smart, too.

"Why don't we get started?" He asks while turning to head off to the other side of the library. I nod while following his footsteps. The hem of his jeans are neat and fresh looking. You would be surprised at the little details that would give away a person's personality. 

After trailing through the never ending maze again, we stop at a clearing full of tables. The librarian in the corner of the room flips the page of her 'Women's Health' magazine. 

We both sit down at a table. I notice that there are several students already around us, texting away on their phones or doodling aimlessly on their sheets of Geometry homework.

With a sigh, I pull out several of my textbooks. This was going to be a long night.

I tap my pencil against the green table. This didn't make sense much. How was I supposed to know what kind of minerals made up Halite? 

Dang. 

"Oppa, I still don't really get it," A feathery voice rings beside me. I freeze. Yup, it was Joon Ah. Her angelic voice could be heard from anywhere. I tried to resist the urge to turn back to the two. I tried so hard. Yet, I failed myself. I seemed to do that a lot lately.

I ended up staring at Joon Ah and Kai's side profiles. Their figures hunched over, studying, looked really... couple like. This makes me regret not claiming Kai when I could. He freakin' confessed and I was an idiot to say no. I will never understand this world.

Joon Ah's silky long hair sweeps over her shoulder, creating a barrier between the outside world and Kai. They were actually fairly close to Alex and I. I could listen to their faint whispering. And not to mention occasional giggling. How could I possibly study when I know that they were probably flirting with each other? 

I sigh, my eyes falling to the floor. It was clear... done. He had moved on already. Oh God, I'm so stupid. Did i actually think that he would possibly hang onto me? 

"They look pretty cute together, don't they?" Alex's voice interrupts my thoughts. He looks up from his physics textbook with a soft smile.

Embarrassed for not concentrating on my work, I look down and shrug. I can feel Alex's eyes on me. He was probably studying- or even attempting to decipher my emotions. Won't work, I'm telling you. I have the best poker face in the neighborhood.

"You like him." He immediately says. A smug smile hangs on his face. Bravo.

I didn't even deny it. I wasn't someone who liked denying. If it was true, then it was true. But lying, is totally different from denying. 

I sigh. "Does it show?"

Alex closes his textbook and puts a hand under his chin. He stares at the two while my eyes trail back over to them as well. I can't help but notice the couple of guys who were checking Joon Ah out.

"Kai's in my homeroom and French period. We barely talk, but you can just tell that he's popular. With the ladies and what not."

"Mm," I mutter, eyes glued on Kai. He was smiling at Joon Ah affectionately with a twinkle in his eye. (A/N THE TWINKLE, TWINKLE!)

It was almost like a silent romantic movie. A couple laughing and joking with each other without any sound. All you can do is admire them.

"One sided love isn't always a bad thing, you know," Alex notes. He drums his fingers on the table almost as if he was pondering about it as well. "The only bad thing about it though is when you watch the one you love- love someone else. That's the hardest."

"It is... yeah." I whisper. I gulp, but my throat is dry. Who was I to possibly think that Kai would still hang onto me. Rejection from a person like me wouldn't even matter. Who was I to even do that? "It sounds like you've been through a lot." I add, turning back to Alex. This silent movie was hurting me a bit too much.

"I guess I have." Alex pauses to think for a moment. He huffs and gathers his hands together. "Why don't we finish your homework now?"

Kai's P.O.V

This Joon Ah girl was really... girly. I mean, not power puff-sugar-and-spice girly, but more 'I come straight from an anime' girly. It was a bit awkward to watch. It was almost too... perfect for my liking.

The whole reason why I did this whole tutoring thing was because I needed community service points for an early graduation. With Exo debuting soon, I wanted to graduate a few months earlier so that I could concentrate on my career more.

Let me tell you, I did not expect Jinah to be here.

I guess she really did need help.

I literally felt myself drooping when I found out that I wasn't tutoring her. I would've enjoyed it more than teaching 'anime girl' about astronomy.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I see Jinah studying with someone else. He looks a bit familiar... Oh. He's Alex from homeroom. That kid was really smart. It's a good thing that he's tutoring Jinah. I approve. Unless he starts making moves on her... then we have a major problem.

Jinah's staring at me. I can feel it. Although I can't see it well, her eyes seem empty and sad. Her whole face just seemed really down and hopeless. I wondered what was bothering her.

Joon Ah looks up at me with her doll eyes and says, "Oppa, why do you keep staring at that girl over there? Do you know her?"

I nod slowly, trying to make it seem like I didn't notice Jinah.

Joon Ah quietly whispers, "Oh... that's Jinah." She places her pencil gently down on the table. "She goes to my school. She's really pretty, don't you think?"

I study her now. She's talking to Alex. It seems like a serious conversation judging from her solemn expression and Alex's hand underneath his head.

"She gets in trouble quite a bit, though. I heard that she has detention for calling a crabby lunch aid a 'raddish sack'." Joon Ah smiles a bit. "Good for her because I really didn't like that lunch aid."

I smile a bit at Joon Ah. "Really?"

I guess Jinah was really Jinah. And I still couldn't get her out of my head.

I have this whole scene planned out and everythaaang! So I'm excited for it :D

I'm thinking of doing a spin off to this story. It's going to concentrate on Soo Jin and Se Hun- and it takes place four years from now.

Would you guys be interested in something like that? Maybe? Too Soon? Okay. Welllll, I'll make it drama- full so don't you worry your little head.
