CHAPTER 28
I MADE THE HEROINE FALL FOR MECharlie sat alone on the bleachers, her concentration fixed on the math notes spread out before her, and the delightful aroma of strawberry milk tea wafting from her cup. Her solitude was suddenly interrupted by the approach of a classmate—a black-haired girl whose nervous energy seemed to radiate off her.
"Hey, Charlie, could you, like, help me out with this problem?" the girl asked, her voice tinged with a hint of shyness as she leaned in close, her cheeks flushed with a subtle blush.
Caught off guard by the unexpected interruption, Charlie shifted slightly, her attention torn from her notes. Oblivious to the girl's obvious infatuation, Charlie nodded, assuming her usual role of the helpful classmate.
"Sure thing," Charlie replied, a friendly smile gracing her lips as she prepared to lend a hand.
As Charlie launched into an explanation of the math problem, her words flowed easily, despite the girl's distracted demeanor. Unbeknownst to Charlie, the girl's gaze remained fixed on her, her mind seemingly miles away as she stared at Charlie with a dreamy expression.
Unfazed by the lack of response, Charlie soldiered on, her enthusiasm undiminished as she guided the girl through the problem. Though she couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, Charlie remained cheerful and helpful, determined to assist her classmate.
"Do you understand now?" Charlie asked, a warm smile gracing her lips as she finished explaining the problem.
"Uhm... Charlie, can you explain it again?" The girl's voice was laced with a hint of innocence, her demeanor shifting to one of exaggerated cuteness as she leaned closer to Charlie.
Charlie's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "W-what? Didn't I explain it well enough?" she asked, taken aback by the request.
"It's not that... I was just a little distracted, and I'm kind of slow with this kind of thing..." The girl's smile widened, her gaze fixed intently on Charlie's face as she leaned in even closer.
Before Charlie could respond, a math notebook was abruptly placed between their faces, accompanied by the unmistakable scent of strawberry champagne. A cold voice cut through the air, commanding attention.
"Even if Charlie explained it to you a hundred more times, you wouldn't understand it if you just keep staring at her the entire time... take my notebook and read this instead..." Serena's voice was firm, her tone laced with a hint of annoyance.
Charlie and the girl both turned to face Serena, their expressions caught between surprise and confusion.
"Why the hell are you here, Serena?" The girl's voice carried a hint of irritation as she glared at Serena.
Serena met the girl's gaze with an icy stare, her aura radiating authority and power as befitting of an S-Class Omega. The girl felt a shiver run down her spine, her confidence waning in the face of Serena's presence. Reluctantly, she took the notebook, unable to withstand Serena's intimidating glare any longer.
"I-I'll go now, Charlie..." With a quick glance at Serena, the girl hurriedly made her exit, leaving Charlie and Serena alone once more.
Serena and Charlie watched in silence as the girl walked away, leaving them alone on the bleachers.
"You weren't that polite when teaching Alice and Leora... Why are you suddenly polite to that girl?" Serena's voice was cold as she settled beside Charlie.
Charlie shrugged, a small smile playing on her lips. "Well, I'm not that familiar with that girl so it's only natural for me to be polite to her... Alice and Leora are my friends, so it's fine if I don't treat them politely... You too, Serena, you can treat me impolitely too," she chuckled.
Serena's expression softened slightly at Charlie's words, a hint of amusement tugging at the corners of her lips. "I see... so I have your permission to be rude?" she teased, her tone lightening.
Charlie chuckled, nudging Serena playfully. "Of course! But don't overdo it, okay?" she replied, a playful glint in her eyes.
Serena rolled her eyes, a small smile tugging at her lips. "Fine, I'll try to restrain myself," she replied, her voice tinged with mock seriousness.
"Now take out the biology notes I gave you and start reading it... I'll give you a short quiz later, and if you make 5 mistakes, you won't be allowed to play games on weekends," Serena instructed with a firm tone.
"Aight, boss!" Charlie replied with a grin, amused by Serena's authoritative tone.
They sat together in silence, each engrossed in their reading. Despite the absence of words, there was an undeniable warmth lingering in the air. The quiet companionship between them spoke volumes, filling the space with a sense of comfort and ease. It was a serene scene, two beautiful girls sharing a moment of quiet connection amidst the bustle of the world around them.
As Charlie's gaze lingered on Serena's bracelet, Serena couldn't help but notice, a soft chuckle escaping her lips.
"Do you like this bracelet a lot? You've been looking at it again..." Serena's voice was light, teasing.
Charlie's cheeks flushed slightly as she met Serena's gaze. "Um. It's because it's really beautiful," she admitted, a shy smile playing on her lips.
Serena's expression softened, her tone turning serious. "Then, would you like me to give you the other one?" she asked, her eyes holding a hint of vulnerability.
Charlie's brows furrowed in confusion. "Isn't that supposed to be for the person you love?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
As Serena considered Charlie's question, her heart raced with unspoken emotions. 'Can't you be the person I love?' Serena thought, her gaze lingering on Charlie's face.
Serena hesitated for a moment, her thoughts racing as she considered her response.
"Well, yes... but maybe I already found that person," she said softly, her gaze meeting Charlie's.
Charlie's heart skipped a beat at Serena's words, a rush of emotions swirling within her. Could Serena be hinting at what she hoped for? Was it possible that Serena felt the same way she did?
Serena didn't wait for Charlie to answer.
"Give me your hand..." Serena's voice was soft, yet there was an undeniable determination behind it.
"H-huh?" Charlie's surprise was evident as she looked up at Serena, her eyes wide with curiosity.
Serena delicately retrieved the other bracelet from its velvet box, her movements deliberate as she placed it on Charlie's wrist with gentle care.
"This bracelet isn't only for a lover, you know..." Serena's voice carried a hint of re
