One Chance in Infinity

“Annyong haseyo! Infinite’s Myungsoo imnida!” he said with a bright grin glued onto his perfect face.

…Wait! Wait! Wait! Why am I here? Why is Myungsoo standing in front of me, introducing himself to just an average fan girl? Wait a sec… Why is Myungsoo here in the first place?!?

Take some deep breaths everyone!
Inhale~ Now Exhale~
I’ll explain why this is happening and hopefully it shall make more sense to you by the end of this explanation!

Let’s take a step back to around a month ago when my friends told me told me about a competition that involved winning a chance to be the girlfriend of any of the Infinite members for a day!

Of course I took this opportunity and entered since I am a massive Inspirit aka. The Ultimate Infinite Fangirl (especially for Myungsoo oppa *cough cough*) and I’m sure any other fan girl will understand how I feel. Impatiently waiting for their comebacks and going crazy when it comes out, knowing the lyrics to ALL of their songs, somehow making connections to Infinite through normal conversation, etc. which are just a few examples of a fan girl’s daily life; my life.

Oh yeah! Did I forget to introduce myself? My name is Eve and I’m currently 18. As you already know, I’m a hardcore Inspirit and my clear bias is Kim Myungsoo.

Even though he is my ultimate bias, I never expected for me to even be here right now to meet him right now. In fact, I didn’t choose him as my partner when I had found out I had won, I chose to meet his fellow band member, Lee Sungyeol!

The only problem was, Sungyeol wasn’t available on the day and they had a last minute switch between Myungsoo and him.

Now, if you’re wondering the reason why I didn’t choose Myungsoo in the first place was because…  because I was too shy and embarrassed to spend a whole day with someone who I admired so much and would die over! Spending a day with someone who was close to my ultimate bias and someone funny sounded like a better idea at that time and I still somehow wished for that idea.

Anyways~ Now that I have explained how it all started, let’s go back to when he was introducing himself.

“Annyong haseyo! Infinite’s Myungsoo imnida!” he said with a bright grin glued onto his perfect face.

I stared at his face for a few moments before I started feeling faint and dizzy. (My face = @_@)

“Ann-Annyong… haseyo… Eve imnida…” I said before I dropped down to the floor, losing consciousness.
 

The next thing I knew, Myungsoo’s face was around 7-8 cms from my own in a hospital room, by ourselves. Of course, I screamed out loud and back off away from him.

He closed his eyes and covered his ears to stop the impact.

“Mi-Mianhae!” he said as he felt as though he had done something wrong.

“I was just looking at how beautiful you were…” he added softly.

I blushed as I heard the comment and hid under the bed sheets and shook my head furiously. I couldn’t stop the fast pace of my heartbeat.

“A-Aniyo… It’s okay, it’s just… I didn’t expect you to be here!” I said from under the sheets.

He laughed in an adorkable high pitched tone. “I didn’t expect to be here to so I guess we’re on the same boat, neh?”

I nodded and even though I wanted to look at him, I couldn’t get myself to remove the covers from my above me.

He pulled the blanket off to show my face and smiled perfectly. “It’s such a waste if you cover you beautiful face like that.”

It felt as though he was teasing me but I could only hear sincerity within his voice. I felt hotness arise into my cheeks once again before he said this.

“Ah, shall we go somewhere? After all, you won the chance to be my girlfriend for a day… Well technically Sungyeol, but he’s busy… I hope you don’t mind that I came!”

I shook my head and replied quietly, “A-Aniyo… Let’s go somewhere then!”

He smiled and said, “Neh! We should make the most of the rest of today!”

We ended up going to the amusement park soon after as I had only fainted and it wasn’t something that major that I had to stay in the hospital.

I couldn’t stop my heart beating as fast as a bullet train during the ride on the taxi we had. He asked me a few questions about me such as age and my hobbies/interests but other than that, we didn’t have much conversation during the ride.

We went around 2pm and surprisingly, there weren’t that many people there. I was glad about this fact because I was sure that Myungsoo would be swarmed by a large wave of fan girls; like myself if there were a lot of people.
 

The first ride we went on was a rollercoaster.‘Oh dear… the rollercoaster…’ I thought in my head as I stared at the intricate maze that the rail of the rollercoaster had. There were spirals and high drops and I could hear loud screaming from those who were on the ride.

I gulped and couldn’t get the butterflies out of my stomach. Myungsoo held my hand and smiled at me.

“It’ll be okay, I’m by your side, Eve!” he exclaimed happily.

I loved the way his voice sounded when he said my name although it didn’t help my nerves at all.

The line wasn’t very long so within 7 minutes it was our turn. I couldn’t stop shaking from panic that I might die or I might embarrass myself in front of Myungsoo.

I had the urge to run away but I couldn’t move my feet the opposite direction from the ride. We sat down in our assigned seats, the second ones from the front. The rollercoaster set off at a slow pace and slowly became faster and faster.

I closed my eyes, wishing that we had chosen to go into the haunted house instead since I prefer being on the ground way more than on a rollercoaster.

The ride slowly climbed up the rail, higher and higher and I was just waiting for the moment for it to drop down at a high speed.

Myungsoo held onto my hand just before it dropped and the panic inside of me disappeared. It felt made me feel safe and like I could overcome anything. 

The ride ended and thankfully, we made it out alive. He was still holding onto my hand at the end and I couldn’t help but blush more than I did before.

We went on multiple rides such as the carousel, the kamikaze, the bumper cars and the pirate ship. I enjoyed every moment of every ride because he was by my side.

We talked about normal things such as our families and he talked about Infinite as well as we walked to each of the rides. I noticed that we had gotten a lot closer within that short amount of time since we had many things in common. There was a happy atmosphere surrounding us at all times and there were hardly awkward moments of silence. Once we realised we had to separate soon, we became quieter around each other and it was almost like we were afraid of getting closer because if we did, it might've been even harder to separate.

“So… Which ride do you want to go last?” he said softly, with a hint of sadness.

I didn’t like the idea that it was going to be the last ride but I looked up at the ferris wheel and pointed at it. I’ve had always wanted to go on a ferris wheel with my boyfriend and this was the perfect chance to do so.

It was already around sunset so I knew that we would be able to see the nice view of Seoul and the sunset at the top of the ferris wheel.

“Kamsahamnida Myungsoo oppa!” I said once we had entered the ferris wheel carriage and had settled down in the seats.

He smiled at me and replied, “I should be the one thanking you for this amazing day!”

I laughed weakly with sadness, wishing for another one of these competitions to come by again. I stared out the window and looked at the amazing view of the city as we reached the top.

There was silence for a moment before I could hear a soothing voice sing this:

“Be mine. I love you, okay? I worry about you, okay?
I’ll take care of you till the end
Let’s go together. Don’t walk onto the harder path, okay? It wasn’t easy, right?
I don’t want to see you like that ever again
Be mine. I love you, okay? I worry about you, okay?
I’ll take care of you till the end”

I turned to look at Myungsoo as he continued singing ‘Be Mine’. It was my favourite of all Infinite’s songs and hearing a live performance from Myunsoo made it a hundred times better.

I stared outside the window, regretful that we had to separate soon. The ride was about to end and I really wished that there was more time within a day.

He came up to me and kissed me lightly on the forehead.

“This may be the end of today but this doesn’t mean the last time we’re seeing each other, neh?”  he said with a smile.

I blushed at his last comment and replied, “N-Neh!”

The ride ended soon after and so did our day. He walked me back my house and even gave me his phone number if I wanted to talk to him.

Even though the competition was just to be the girlfriend of one of the members for a day, this day only marked the start of our relationship.

- One Year Later~ -

“Myungsoo oppa!” I exclaimed happily as I entered Infinite’s practice room.

“Ooh~ Look whose girlfriend has come to pick him up~” Woohyun teased.

“I should’ve cancelled my schedule on that day~ Maybe she would’ve been mine instead of yours Myungsoup~” Sungyeol jokingly said with a sad tone with regret in his voice.

“Aish! Just go already you two love birds! We need to practice!” Sunggyu said with an annoyed tone although I could tell he was only trying to help us.

Myungsoo laughed with his usual adorkable high pitched laugh, ran towards me for a hug.

“Arasso~ We’ll be back soon then!” he said as we left for a date for our one year anniversary.
