4 pm.

Seungwan is at her desk trying to write and finish her draft for her novel. Yes, “Trying” because her phone continued to ring incessantly courtesy of a certain best friend of hers.

I Swear to god Kang! It’s better to be important! If not!

"SEUNGWAN-AH!" Seulgi's voice pierced through the silence as Seungwan finally answered her persistently ringing phone. "When will you send your draft? You know I'll be the one getting scolded if you don't deliver it soon, right?" Seulgi whined.

Seungwan let out a weary sigh. It was the third or fourth call from Seulgi today, and she couldn't ignore it any longer. Annoyance seeped into her voice as she responded, her patience running thin from Seulgi's constant interruptions.

"I told you already, I'll send you the draft tonight, okay?! How many times do I have to repeat it? I even emailed it to you!" she retorted sharply, her annoyance palpable.

Seulgi's sheepish voice came through the line. "You did? Oops."

"Yah! Kang Seulgi! I know you're up to something because you never miss checking your email. Now spill the beans before I come over to your place and confiscate all your Pringles!"

“Aww man, no fair, you’re no fun. I’m just curious why do you keep avoiding my calls Seungwan-ah?”

Seungwan feels very tired today, and she just wants to write in peace and not be interrupted every half an hour. Sure, she loved her best friend dearly and she know why her best friend is acting this way, but sometimes she needs to have a quiet day where she can just focus on writing her story.

This story is the last novel that she will release for her Trilogy Collection, and because of this, it holds so much meaning to her that she wants to craft every word carefully.

"Seulgi-ah, I know you're worried, but it's been two years since I last experienced the symptoms," Seungwan replied softly before continuing. "And it's also been two years since you joined my company and became my editor and manager," she added with a snicker.

Curiosity piqued, Seungwan try her luck again, "Speaking of which, how on earth did you manage to join my company and become my editor in the first place?

“And why do I need a manager again? I’m a novelist, not an artist or celebrity" Seungwan continues

Seulgi winced playfully, responding, "Ouch! I'm still your manager, Wan-ah."

Seungwan couldn't help but notice that every time she brought up the topic, Seulgi skillfully evaded the question.

She knows that Seulgi and her have the same major, and Seulgi is also a smart student, but it’s not easy to join her company, considering that it is one of the biggest publishing companies in the country, and especially for Seulgi to be put directly to Seungwan right after she joined the company.

“I’m just worried about you wan-ah, I know how hard and painful it is for you to go through that procedure two years ago, and I’m still kinda blaming myself for not noticing it sooner” Seulgi answered, her voice becoming full of worried.

Seungwan heart soften immediately, her annoyance dissipating into the air replaced by endearment and a little bit of guilt.

She still remembers vividly how her best friend Cried for hours like when she herself just sat there and tried to accept her condition with a smile.

She knows how Seulgi often blames herself because she didn’t notice Seungwan’s condition sooner although it’s not her fault in any way shape or form.

Resting her head on her Herman Miller chair, Seungwan's gaze wandered to the ceiling of her room as she delved into the memories she shared with Seulgi. If it weren't for her best friend, she might have already departed from this world. It felt like a lifetime had passed since then, and for a moment, the young novelist became lost in her recollections.

"Seungwan?" Seulgi's voice broke through her reverie, pulling her back to the present.

"Okay, okay, I get it. I'm sorry for ignoring your call," Seungwan replied in a softer tone. "But my body feels exhausted today for some reason, and I just need some time alone, Seulgi-yah."

Surprised, Seulgi's voice carried a tinge of shock. "Why didn't you tell me? If I had known, I wouldn't have disturbed you or asked for the draft today.” The young editor starts to ramble,

“I'll let the company know that you won't be able to submit it. Just, take a rest, okay? Don't worry about the draft," she reassured the young novelist.

This is exactly why I don’t want to tell her

Seulgi is always protective of Seungwan, overprotective even. Seungwan know this the moment Seulgi entered her company and become her editor.

In the past, Seungwan's previous editor would relentlessly pursue her for drafts, even well before the deadline approached. This causes Seungwan a fair bit of stress but she understands that her editor is just trying to do her job.

But unlike her previous editor, Seulgi rarely pushed for the draft ahead of time. Even if Seungwan missed a deadline, Seulgi would kindly remind her after just a week.

Another peculiar aspect was that Seungwan hadn't even had a manager before. Now, Seulgi had assumed the role of both her manager and editor, which was unusual since no other writers had a manager.

The young novelist knew that this is not just a mere coincidence. There is no way that her best friend is coincidentally joining the same company as her, and then coincidentally becomes her editor, and after then coincidentally taking on the role of her manager.

Coincidence only happens once

"No, no! I'll send the draft tonight!" The young novelist quickly responded.

"Just let me write in peace, okay? If you call me one more time, I'll make sure to confiscate every single can of your beloved Pringles," Seungwan playfully threatened, attempting to lighten the atmosphere.

Laughter resonated through the line as Seulgi replied, “Got it bestie! And don’t you dare touch my Pringles! I warn you!”.

“Take care and call me if anything happened! ANYTHING WAN-AH!” Seulgi continued, emphasizing the last word of her sentence.

“Got it! By bear- take care” Seungwan beamed before she end the call.

Sigh, sometimes she’s worse than my sisters

Seungwan let out a soft chuckle before continuing to write her draft.

11 pm.

Seungwan was able to finish her draft and this time without her best friend’s constant phone call. She smiled and let out a relieved sigh after submitting the draft to her best friend’s email.

She stands up from her chair and suddenly feels a little bit dizzy
