Chapter 4

Apologies, Homesickness and Yunho's Gorgeousness

Yunho swore he could kill the girl sitting in front of her, silently eating her breakfast like a cute little kitten. Not to mention his evil sister whom he thought will help him explain to their parents that everything was a big mistake. But that moment all Yunho wanted to is to strangle the living daylight out of his sister.

“Aboji and Omma said that you are not allowed to leave this table unless you apologize to Jaemi.” Jihye spoke for her parents who went out, in a way that only a drama queen will do.

Yunho inhaled a good amount of air and closed his eyes, silently whispering to himself that Jihye was just possessed by some evil spirit set lose by an evil oompa loompa.

“Are you liste-“

“Yes!” Both girls straightened their backs. “I heard you, Jihye! You don’t have to say it over and over again for goodness’ sake!”

“Jihye,” Jaemi whispered and took Jihye’s hand under the table to give it a little squeeze. “It’s okay, don’t answer back,” she mouthed.

“NO!” the younger Jung was furious. “He deserves it!”

“What the hell is wrong with you?!” Yunho spat.

“Oh, so you know how to swear now? I’m so gonna tell this to Aboji!”

Yunho wanted to answer back. Heaven knew how badly he wanted to answer back, but he also knew it would be worthless. He never once won against his sister and he wouldn’t allow the intruder to see him defeated. So he just took a very long and deep breath and faked a smile to Jaemi.

“Well, hey there Oom-“

“She actually has a name,” it was Jihye, again.

“Jaemi… right… I’m… I’m…”

“We’re waiting…”

“Jihye please… why don’t you just leave us alone? I will apologize when you’re out of my sight!”

“Cruel! Aboji, did you hear him?”

“Reminds me,” Mrs. Jung intercepted, coming to the kitchen. “I need to go grocery shopping.”

“I thought you went out already?”

“I will drive you there,” Mr. Jung also came and Jihye was secretly celebrating.

“And you’re coming with us, young lady.”

“Aboji?”

And the apology never happened. Instead…

“I’m sorry.” It took Jaemi all the courage she could muster just to say those words to the true owner of the room she was staying in. The girl believed that she owed the young Jung an apology but that didn’t meant that Yunho can forever enjoy the feeling of satisfaction because she conceded. Nope. Jaemi apologized because it was just fair to do so, not because she accepted all the things that the giant tree said before. And sleeping in a couch was far better than sleeping in the streets. She could’ve called it quits since Yunho almost crushed the life out of her tiny body in the middle of a highway but because the Jung couple treated her fair and well, the apology came out of .

Bless the Jung couple.

“About time.” Yunho smirked, enjoying the treatment and the moment that his parents and her annoying sister was nowhere in sight. “You damaged my car because of your carelessness.”

Wait, that was out of the question and her mind screamed, Kapre but went on nonetheless.

“Let’s start again.” He said and Jaemi raised her eyebrow. ‘So the giant has a heart,’ but it remained inside her head.

“I’m Jung Yunho.” The Jung stretched his arms and reached Jaemi’s.

“Jaemi Matagumpay,” she answered while staring at the handshake like an evil spell was casted on her.

Yunho suddenly retracted his hand and looked at the girl like she grew ten heads. “Don’t eat my hand,” he said with widened eyes. Jaemi fought the urge to laugh and freaked out a bit but played along and decided to give the giant what he was looking for. Who will say such thing to a cute creature like her?

“Don’t worry Mr. Jung,” she then eyes his hand like it was the tastiest food ever purposely which caused the guy to hide it behind him in full defense. “I was vaccinated so I’m rabies free,” she continued in full seriousness and tried to reach for Yunho’s hand and her lips hungrily.

“Ah!” Yunho chuckled nervously. “N-no thanks.” He took 3 steps back before fully retreating like a mad man.

Weird.

Jaemi sighed. At least her homesickness was eased even just a while. Yes, she was homesick, seeing the siblings fight like little kids reminded her of her own siblings back in the Philippines. She never felt such feeling in the first week while she was with the Jungs, but Jung Yunho changed it all when he came. The catfight and bickering made her miss her family so much. She wanted to cry but can’t. She couldn’t afford to let her tears fall knowing that when she did, the only way to stop her was a plane ticket back to her country and she wouldn’t, in any way, let that happened. So all she could do was to fight back the tears and forced a smile even if the longing in heart was too much to handle.

“Well, I acted a bit harsh on him but Oppa is really a nice guy.” Jihye hugged her knees. They were sitting at the front porch that very same night. Too much happened that day.

Jaemi smiled genuinely. “I know and I’m very sure that you did all of those things to your brother because of me. I felt your protection Jihye-ah. Thank you.”

Jihye smiled back; proud that she did something heroic for someone. “Hah, forget it. I can very well protect you from Oppa.”

“Thanks.”

“He’s a bit full of himself right?”

“Huh?” Jaemi looked at the girl beside her, looking at her face for clues on why she suddenly said such things.

“I guess the limelight have changed him a bit.”

“Limelight?” Was Yunho some kind of a model? Well, He was tall so it wasn’t that far from happening. Those were the thoughts running inside Jaemi’s brain.

Jihye, noticing the confused gazed in Jaemi, chuckled. “He’s an idol, Jaemi, and yes, he’s quite popular here and Japan and probably the world.”

The last phrase was impossible since Jaemi wasn’t aware that Jung Yunho existed before she let her feet in Korea. But nevertheless an ‘O’ was formed while nodding, that explained the flawlessness of the guy’s skin.

The Filipina couldn’t help but stare, she maybe intimidated by Yunho’s towering built but what really caught her attention was his white flawless skin. Blame it to her homeland since it was a tropical country, it was quite hard to maintain a fair complexion specially if her house was standing proud in the middle of a field. No, Jaemi wasn’t that dark but not that white also. She was… brown and damn proud. But sometimes, wishing for a fair skin was inevitable. She thought Yunho’s skin was far better that Jihye’s and now that she thought of it, his palm was also pillow-soft that her own palm cried in shame. Blame it all to the house chores.

“An idol.” She murmured unintentionally.

“Yeah, he’s the leader of Dong Bang Shin Ki.”

“Dong Bang Shin Ki.” Poor Jaemi, she suddenly developed a habit of repeating words.

Jihye nodded as she stretched her legs away from her. “They sing, dance… do stuff and all. That’s the reason he’s barely home.”

That was the moment Jaemi decided to switch the topic a bit. It was still about the giant tree but well…less talk about his gorgeousness.

Gorgeousness.

“I bet it’s hard to be his sister.”

Jihye chuckled, “At first I thought it was great, but now…” she trailed off causing Jaemi to suddenly stare at her and saw a tint of sadness in her eyes.

“Popularity comes with a price huh?” she nudged Jihye’s side and smiled warmly.

Jihye didn’t answer, well, more of she didn’t know how or what to answer.

“He gets to buy and provide us everything but he’s rarely home. We’re thankful for the ten days given to us each year as his free time or sometimes less or nothing at all.”

Jaemi concluded, Jihye loved her brother so much but because the older Jung wasn’t home that often, the younger found a way to show hat love in a weird way.

“Don’t you miss him?”

“I’m used to it.”

Jihye got used to it. Maybe Jaemi will get used to not seeing her family too… or even missing them. She immediately shook that thought away. She didn’t want to. She chose not too. She wanted to miss them. Because that was the only way to remind her the reason of her stay in Korea.

But that kind of conversation was one of the things Jaemi loved and hate the most. She loved it because of the feeling she get reminded her of her family back at home and then the feeling of emptiness at the same time. Homesickness was attacking her once again making her eyes water. And Jihye wasn’t dumb not to notice it. She moved closer to Jaemi and enveloped the girl into a tight hug. It was like the hugs her family always gave to her and it was warm enough to make her feel at home once again.

“Oppa will leave in three days so you’ll gonna have to bear it but I promise to make him pay.” There was an evil glint present in Jihye’s almond eyes.

“W-what? No Jihye, it’s actually okay. I’m okay. I already apologized so you don’t have to make him pay or do whatever.”

“Don’t worry Jaemi, we’ll just tire him out. Just relax and let me do all the work, I got it all covered.” Jihye winked.

True to Jihye’s words, the Jung couple suddenly obliged Yunho to tour Jaemi around the city. And of course, the very idea made Yunho furious.

“And I’m a tour guide now?”

“Yunho darling, Jaemi’s been here for a long while now and she haven’t seen anything beside school and our house.”

“She came here as an exchange student, not as a tourist.” Yunho couldn’t help but be harsh. Aside from the fact that they had a rough start, unbelievable things happened since the girl joined their household. So Yunho wasn’t really comfortable around her.

Mrs. Jung stopped whatever she was doing in the kitchen and rushed to her son’s side in wide eyes and disbelief. “Yunho, that is so rude,” she took his arm and on the verge of making him take back what he had said.

But Yunho just looked at his mom nonchalantly and said, “Don’t worry Omma, that girl’s Korean is not that good so she won't understand anything,” like it was the most casual thing in the world.

“And that makes it ruder. Your dad and I didn’t raise you that way, Yunho.” There was sadness on her face and the man immediately felt guilty.

“Omma.”

“It’s okay, maybe you’re too busy,” she sniffed and Yunho was utterly shocked. “We can just tour her around some other time. She may not be a tourist but I think it’s just right to treat foreigners the way they treat you and your group in other countries.” Mrs. Jung explained and  Yunho never felt more guilty and terrified.

His Omma was right. DBSK was treated well and with respect in every country they stepped in. Every tour ended with great pleasure and smile on every member’s face. And Yunho got the point. It was time to give back.

He sighed heavily, defeated. “Okay Omma, I’ll do what you want.”

Yunho’s mom was bipolar, at least that was Yunho believed for a moment. Mrs. Jung suddenly smiled widely like she won the lottery when he agreed. And Yunho swore she was just tearing up a while ago. He placed his tired body at the dining chair.

Heaven help him. He was at the wrong house.

Short update. I know. Sorry

I just need to tell you something. I decided to post Changmin’s story and took the challenge of writing two fics at the same time. The timeline wont affect anything since Changmin’s story happened after all the four boys had their happy endings. And since By Chance is just a flashback, it won’t affect anything. I promise.

I know some of you are wondering about what’s going to happen after Changmin’s happy ending… right? Or is it only me? Hope not. So I decided (again) to write Book 7… the mother of all sequels. Lol. It’s the last one (I Promise) and this time, it will no longer feature our guys.

This fic is going to be about their families ^^ Yes, you heard it right…. Families… meaning… their sons and daughters^^ I’m such a bad girl. Lol.

The fic will be posted a week after I posted Changmin’s fic so please wait for it. The characters will be posted one at a time… ( for some thrill, I guess) ^^
