Chapter 2

Mutual First Love // Park Seonghwa

It has been a very long weekend for Yeonwoo, after the party on friday his mind kept racing and so did his heart - He met Seonghwa before - they met when he first entered the school during orientation - their orientation kept them together by class and Taekyung was in another class so Yeonwoo was left on his own.

Yeonwoo couldn’t easily get along with new people especially when it came to light that he was the principal's son - it was like it scared everyone off, so Yeonwoo was left alone during his orientation and Seonghwa being the next in line for student council president - kept Yeonwoo company - that was the first time Yeonwoo felt his heartbeat that fast, since then Yeonwoo kept a distance from the student council.

But he just couldn’t find the heart to turn down Seonghwa to his face so he agreed - but he was regretting it - he wasn’t sure if he should act in front of Seonghwa plus there would be a lot of other people as well - he had only ever spent time with Taekyung on his own so he wasn’t sure how to act among a lot of people.

Yeonwoo agonised the whole weekend about meeting Seonghwa again and he thought he might be able to come up with an excuse and run away but when the bell rang for the schools club activities Yeonwoo found Seonghwa waiting outside his classroom - all hopes of running away had disappeared immediately.

“Sunbae-nim” Yeonwoo said in a surprised tone, Taekyung stood behind Yeonwoo and sent a glare Seonghwa’s way, the older just sent a smile to the boy and stepped forward wrapping an arm around Yeonwoo.

“We’re having a little meeting today for the schools festival~ so I was tasked with picking you up” Seonghwa said flashing another bright smile but this time in Yeonwoo’s direction, he just led him away and Yeonwoo just mindlessly followed - he completely forgot about Taekyung who was left behind he was just worried that Seonghwa could actually hear his heartbeat.

When they got to the council’s room Seonghwa happily pulled Yeonwoo inside, Yeonwoo was a little surprised when there were 7 pairs of eyes focused on him, he wasn’t sure what to do exactly - but he did recognize some of the students - 5 of them were second year students just like him although they never actually interacted with one another he could definitely tell one of them was in his class.

“I’ll introduce you all” Seonghwa said as he pushed Yeonwoo closer to the table that was in the middle of the room where everyone sat “This is Jin Yeonwoo - year 2 class 1 - first ranked student among his year and second ranked student in the overall school - He will be joining us and if he is comfortable enough and like being with us he will take over for me from next year” Seonghwa said with a huge smile, Yeonwoo awkwardly bowed and greeted everyone.

"Hi I'm vice president - Kim Hongjoong, I'm also in my 3rd year with Seonghwa, thank you for joining us, I hope you will enjoy your time with us" Hongjoong said with a small smile playing on his lips.

"I'm the rep for our second year students, Jeong Yunho. I'm from class 2, I hope we can get along well. Yeonwoo" the was quite tall and Yeonwoo immediately recognized him.

"Hi, I'm Kang Yeosang,  I'm in class 2 for year 2, I am the theatre rep for the school, welcome~" his voice honestly sent Yeonwoo into a little shock… His voice was quite deep.

"Hi, Welcome~ I'm Choi San~ I'm actually in the same class as Yeonwoo…  I always wanted to talk to you but your friend is a little intimidating" San said in a sheepish tone "oh and I am the athletic rep~" San said flashing a huge smile to Yeonwoo.

'Ah, I knew he looked familiar for a reason,' Yeonwoo thought to himself.

"Hello Song Mingi is the same, I'm the music rep, also I'm part of class 3 for year 2" he often hung out with Yunho so Yeonwoo immediately recognized him.

"Hi~ I'm Jung Wooyoung~ I'm the dance rep, I'm in the class as you with Sani, if you ever need help with anything come find me" he said, he was always quite loud in class and he always clung to his friends… Yeonwoo could tell that Wooyoung was definitely raised with a lot of love.

"And now it's my turn, hello Sunbae-nim I am Choi Jongho, I'm San' younger brother and also the 1st year rep, it's nice to meet you" the boy was quite adorable, he immediately reminded Yeonwoo of a teddy bear and thus the boy couldn't help but smile.

"And then lastly it's me I guess" Seonghwa said with a laugh "I'm Park Seonghwa - but you already know that - I'm Year 3 class 1' 1st ranking student and ranked number 1 in the whole school, if you ever need anything or just need to talk come find me this hyung will help you" Seonghwa said with a big smile as he wrapped his arm around the boy

"Thank you all for the warm welcome, I’m Jin Yeonwoo, I'll be in your care starting today" Yeonwoo said happily.

It was the first time he was welcomed so warmly to anything since he started high school, he couldn't help but feel thankful for being pulled into it even though he was worried he was happy he didn't run away from the opportunity.

"Now shall we start our meeting?" Seonghwa asked and everyone nodded, San and Wooyoung waved Yeonwoo over and made him sit with them.

"Okay so, the preparations for the cultural festival will start today, year representatives we will need you to hand out forms to each class head and they need to decide on what their class will be doing - they also have to hand in a budget estimate for their decided activity - they have two weeks to do this" Seonghwa said.

Yeonwoo saw Jongho and Yunho making notes about everything in detail.

"Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung - you will all prepare things with the clubs you represent, Yeosang you guys will need to prepare a play for one day out of the week, San you guys will need to come up with something among all the different sports, maybe pick one club to be the representatives of the athletes, Mingi you guys will be in charge of the music and performances for the week meaning you will also be working hand in hand with dance club for performances"

Yeonwoo continued to observe everyone as they made their notes, it was quite complicated but Yeonwoo couldn't help but find it somewhat fascinating. He attended the festival quite a lot and he absolutely loved it but now he got to see the process that everything followed.

"Yeonwoo, you will be shadowing me and Joong for the whole process since next year you may be in my position. You need to know how the planning goes," Seonghwa said and Yeonwoo found himself nodding.

"It's a lot of work and this will be a crazy few weeks but let's support one another through all of this" Seonghwa said warmly and everyone cheered.

"That's all for today" Seonghwa said as the bell rang for the next period to start, everyone quickly gathered up their things and started leaving Wooyoung and San both linked arms with Yeonwoo and started leaving.

"Sani, Remember to get Yeonwoo's number so we can add him to the group chat" Seonghwa yelled out to the trio and the boy nodded happily pulling out his phone as they continued to walk.

"Do you have any plans for after school?" San asked and Yeonwoo shook his head.

"Great~ Woo and I will show you where the council meets up most of the time outside of school" San said happily and Wooyoung happily Hummed in agreement.

It was all a little new to Yeonwoo - why were they so friendly to him now? When they never spoke to him before even though they were in the same class.

When they got to their classroom San and Wooyoung still clung to Yeonwoo only when they got to the boys seat did they actually let him go, they took their seats in the back of the class and they definitely didn't miss the death glare Taekyung sent their way.

But they didn't mind it, they finally had the opportunity to befriend Yeonwoo who they wanted to be friends with since their first year.

**

When the school day ended, San and Wooyoung immediately approached Yeonwoo, not even giving Taekyung time to talk to him.

“Are you ready to go?” Wooyoung asked excitedly and Yeonwoo nodded happily.

“Yeah, Kyung I’m going now - I have things to do at the student council” The boy said and happily walked off with San and Wooyoung completely missing the complete change in mood from Taekyung.

San And Wooyoung led Yeonwoo to the school’s gate, Yeonwoo could spot some of the student council members from a distance but not everyone was there, once they got closer Yeonwoo noticed that it was Yeosang, Yunho and Mingi who were joining them along with Jongho but both Seonghwa and Hongjoong were missing

“Let’s get going shall we~” Yeosang sang happily, Yunho and Mingi happily followed him - Jongho waited for San and Wooyoung to start moving, the two smiled happily and also joined pulling Yeonwoo along, Jongho happily matched their pace and followed them.

Yeonwoo realised that they were heading straight to the cafe across from the school, he always saw it when he left school but he always saw everyone going with their friends and Taekyung would never enter a place like the cafe so he just ignored it’s existence, but going to the cafe with so many people really made him excited.

When they got to the cafe Yunho scouted out for the best seat in there and when he found it he hurriedly led everyone there.

Once they took a seat they started talking about what to get, Yeonwoo was a little lost but they made sure to include him in every decision they made, eventually they figured what they all wanted and Mingi went to place the order

It didn’t take long before their drinks and food was ready, they all shared everything and Yeonwoo observed them all in awe - he couldn’t believe friends could act like this, the only friendship he ever knew was the one he had with Taekyung where Taekyung would always drag him into everything he wanted like a ragdoll and the moment Yeonwoo would reject something Taekyung wanted the other would always end up getting upset and not speaking to Yeonwoo for a while.

So seeing friends hang out and laugh with one another while having fun was something he couldn’t ever imagine yet here he was observing it all.
