Day off - Part 4

Reveal

Inside was different than what you expected. Sure, you did think it would be geared more toward children with the Sesame Street and Muppets that were around, but there were some genuinely interesting things that you didn't expect. There were small puppets, large ones, cute ones, and creepy ones. There were even international puppets, stop-motion ones, and animatronics. You hadn't quite made the connection that those were puppets on their own, too.

Q seemed to like the weirder ones and would spend extra time looking at them. The others seemed to enjoy the kids' shows puppets and would make comments every so often about something they found or thought of.

Twenty minutes later, you walked over to look at a display that you thought was interesting from a distance. After looking at it closer, you started to feel like it was slightly creepy with it's old look and blank stare. Suddenly, Q popped out at you around the side of it with a yell and startled you. He laughed as you jumped and backed into Eric.

Like a reflex, he caught you.

"Sorry." You mumbled and stepped away again.

He smiled widely at you and said something to Q in Korean.

After that, each of them tried to make you jump again. You laughed at each attempt because you now expected them to try it and it would fail because of that. Still, it was nice to have friends to go around and laugh with.

It took you an hour and a half to go through the museum and by the time you left, it was closing up.

"What else was around here?" Eric asked.

You pointed out some of the other things and found that the fashion museum was open until 8. However, if you did that, you may not be able to make it back to World of Coca-Cola before it closed at 7. After some debate, they decided to go there, anyway. It felt like it took much longer to reach the museum, but you couldn't help but admit that it was worth it once you were inside. As much as the Puppetry Museum was mostly something that would be enjoyed with children, the fashion museum was something that could be enjoyed primarily by teens and adults. There were beautiful outfits and, you thought, some strange fashion designs from over the years. You read about fashion from different cultures and time periods as well as some prominent designers.

Looking at them, you wished you knew more about fashion. However, the guys seemed to be having enough discussion with each other that you got a little bit more understanding of what fashion meant. Still, it was completely inadequate. Each one pointed out his idea of the best outfit and asked you which one you liked in return. You pointed it out when you came across something you really liked. By the time you left, it was 7:04pm. You had spent almost 2 hours in the fashion museum.

"I'm sorry, Jacob. It looks like we're too late to go to World of Coca-Cola."

He seemed unperturbed by missing it. "We can just go tomorrow! I had more fun at the museums here. I'm glad we did this, instead." He gave you a quick, energetic hug, which you returned.

Eric and Kevin both opened their mouths to say something, but closed them at your responding action.

"You like hugs?" Kevin spoke after a few seconds of silence.

You side-eyed him at his tone. "Yes?" You drug out the word cautiously.

"Nice." He promptly hugged you, also.

You just chuckled and hugged him back. It was brief, but longer than Jacob's.

After that, you started out for the Marta station to get back to the underground mall where you had met. As you went, you could hear someone's stomach start rumbling. It was loud enough that everyone heard it, and when it happened two more times, it became funny.

"Okay, we'll stop for food." You laughed and began the discussion about where to eat.

As you drew closer to the Marta station, Kevin seemed to remember your comment earlier about DaVinci's. "Should we have pizza?" He gestured toward the shop.

Before you could respond, the guys just headed toward the door. They entered the restaurant and looked around.

"Let's eat outside." Jacob suggested.

This particular location had an outdoor patio with tables that you could sit at. You walked them through the ordering process, then took the number and your drink and went out to find a table large enough for you. Q joined you shortly and helped you claim a set of two tables that were pushed together. One-by-one the others joined you.

Your banter started out as talking about the fun you had then turned to more in-depth questions about your life, job, and more about the Kpop groups that you liked. You managed to get through all of the standard love life questions and talked about how you liked your job, but if you didn't have to work for the rest of your life, you probably wouldn't. You told them about a lot of the groups you knew and liked.

"And you know The Boyz music, but not the members?" Kevin asked.

You nodded as you took a drink of your soda.

"What's your favorite song?"

"By The Boyz?" You paused to think for a minute. "Probably either Reveal or Drink It. They have a sound that I could listen to for hours."

"Drink it?" Eric smiled at that.

You belatedly realized that that song was probably not the most kid-friendly song from The Boyz. Oops. Nothing you could do about it now. You tried to shrug it off so it wouldn't affect you.

"You know, I have never before come across anyone that didn't shun me when I admitted I liked Kpop."

"Really?" Jacob seemed sad for you.

"The only ones who didn't were people I met because of it." You smiled at them. "But those are some of the best people I've met."

You had finished your meal and excused yourself to go to the bathroom. As you left them, you could hear them talking in Korean about something, but just let it go as you passed.

In the bathroom, you pulled out your phone. You had ignored the notifications you had earlier from your friend sending you tiktoks. You opened the app and looked through the clips. A lot of them were Ateez or Stray Kids related, but the last one caught your attention in a serious way. There, in the video frame, sat Kevin, addressing questions and comments from fans during a V-live. You glanced down at the tags for the video. #theboyz

You watched the clip six times over as it registered in your head. This is Kevin. The Kevin that you had just spent the day with. It's the same one. You churned those three sentences over and over in your mind. Then something else clicked. You searched the tag for The Boyz and scrolled through videos. It didn't take long for you to confirm what you were searching for.

You had just spent the day with 4 members of The Boyz without realizing it was them. You really should have learned them a year ago when you first decided you wanted to. You now felt like the biggest idiot in the world for not having noticed earlier. You put your phone in your pocket, finished, and washed your hands. You stared into the mirror for a second chastising yourself mentally. Then you spent a second preparing to go back out to see them now that you knew.

Heart hammering like crazy, you opened the bathroom door... only to find Kevin staring at you from the other side of it.
