CH 13
Never Too LateHyejin wanted to surprise Kihyun the next day. So she had his mother watch Ahn a bit longer. She hurried to the store grabbing things to make his favorite for breakfast. The weird moments last night made her nervous but Kihyun had done his best to take care of her. She wanted to repay him. He could have avoided her. He didn't. Something smacks her as she was shopping through the store.
"Hello, wife."
A chill ran down her spine. Hyejin tries to run but something slams into the back of her. She falls face first. Hyejin's first instinct is to give up. Her mind brings the image of Kihyun and Ahn playing. She kicks out till she hears a groan. Hyejin does her best to go run despite the pain in her right leg.
"Get back here! I said..."
His voice faded as she ran. Despite her body screaming for her to stop Hyejin pushed herself. If she stopped now he might catch up. She had to put as much distance between them. Hyejin had to hope there was better security at Kihyun's mother's place. She could lie to her better than Kihyun. He would see through her so easily. Hyejin just had to get there before he caught her. Her legs moved faster swearing she could hear his voice. Kihyun's mother wrapped her in a hug at the sight of her.
"Oh my God! Dear, what happened? You were shopping I thought."
Hyejin looks around only calming down with Ahn held in her arms.
"You're scaring me. ...whats wrong with your leg?"
"I don't know. I had an accident. Kihyun would worry so I came here."
She didnt ask anymore only working to get the wounds cleaned and wrapped. Together the trio went to Kihyun's place with Hyejin trying to hide. Daesung could be out there watching her for all she knew. She didn't want to lead him to Kihyun's house. Kihyun's mother cooked for everyone using what was there. Kihyun didn't question her about the wound. She did notice that he was staring at her face an awful lot. Hyejin couldn't figure out why.
"So I was thinking of looking into a house... A nice five-bedroom house."
Hyejin blinks, "Why five?"
"No reason!"
"Kihyun your mom clearly has a reason." Hyejin couldn't believe the sudden attitude toward his mother.
"Kihyunnie is just mad cause I want so many grandkids."
"How many do you want?"
"Hmmm. Four? Well asides from our little king here."
Ahn tried to stand up. It doesn't work so he drops his spoon on the floor staring at it as it falls. Kihyun helps him. Hyejin sighs. Her mind on just a little while ago. Why had her mind flashed both of them? Why was protecting both of them important? Why did feel like her heart would break if BOTH got hurt? Ahn was understandable. He's her whole world. The only man that made sense in her life. Kihyun...
"You're thinking hard."
Hyejin looks away. "Yeah. Sorry."
The meal ladies into an uncomfortable silence. Ahn being the only one to occasionally make noise. Hyejin pokes at her food not sure why she thought eating so soon after all that would help. She just felt sick. Kihyun reaches out making her flinch. The room grows cold.
"Why'd... Are you okay?"
"F-fine..."
"He's not going to hit you. He wants to check your temperature."
Kihyun looks at his mother offended. "Of course I'm not gonna hit her. Only a monster does that."
