✦ esper ✦ (noun). A person who practices the                                                      development of psychic ability. 
                                A person with paranormal abilities.

In the Essense story-line, 8 girls in a seemingly normal world try to blend into society despite their esper abilities, or ‘mind and aura powers’. They hide their abnormal-selves in everyday life, trying to swallow down these powers to protect society as a whole, hiding them from even their families and friends.

Although, keeping the espers from exploding with abilities at all times is nearly impossible and it’s only a matter of time before the world finds out about their extraordinary existence, which is just what happens when each girl comes across the other members.

The eight are drawn together by various circumstances. Having believed they were the only esper in existence, the girls are shocked to discover like-minded individuals with the other members. Maybe they can set aside their differences and support each other? 

Maybe they can make each other feel safe and normal in a harsh world that discriminates against the unusual. Maybe they can learn to love themselves as one, to accept the extraordinary parts of themselves that they always feared. Although, not every girl has the same mindset of outcome.

Soon they form a rag-tag group, Essense. These young espers will use their abilities for good… Or will they?
And are they really the only espers in the world?

Essense is separated into subunits that reflect each characters journey in the essense-verse. Although, subunits are not permanent fixtures. When the characters progress or make new strides in their journeys then a new subunit or solo may be born into the universe.
