Located in a space between muggle Seoul and magic Seoul, the exclusive East Asian school of magic has existed for centuries.
Myeongkwae, derived from the Korean word for "clarity and clearness," was founded long before many other schools for young witches and wizards, leading to various Asian ethnicities intertwining to influence the school's current curriculum and expansion.
Established around the same year as Hogwarts in England, Myeongkwae is unique to the magical culture of Asian ancient traditions and dubbed 'myths' by muggle Koreans.
Although, after years of Asian children from across the continent attending, Myeongkwae has become a cultural blend of Asian magic. Despite the central location in the capital city of South Korea, Myeongkwae exists on a robust island connected by the Seoul Transit system.
Having been built initially as a lone village haven for magic users, Myeongkwae has since expanded and developed into a vast ocean-side school grounds made up of traditional architecture and newer additions of giant castles, temples, and other breathtakingly magical architecture. Along with the connection to the sea, a vast forest and mountainside plains line the other side of the grounds creating a diverse geological atmosphere.
In current-day 2022, Myeongkwae is not the only magic school in Korea, or East Asia, although it is one of the most elite. Rather than sending out letters to every witch and wizard of age, the school instead sends out applications to apply to the extensive program.
Once accepted as a Myeongkwae student, you then begin one of the biggest adventures of your life, and just getting there is the first step.

I decided to give in and surprise you guys with FINALLY posting my Harry Potter AU fic that's been in the making for over a year! I swear I've been talking about this forever and i'm so freaking excited that it's here!!!
Myeongkwae is an entire fictional school based on my own creation. Basically, it's the Asian version of Hogwarts lmao.
Your oc can be from any asian ethnicity because language barriers aren't a thing, thanks to the magic cast on Myeongkwae's campus.
Myeongkwae will have it's own version of 'houses' and curriculum that has lots of Korean influence. And unlike Hogwarts you must APPLY and get accepted to be a student. So really illusive and prestigious.
I will be accepting students from 14-18 years of age as well as staff members! I'll include more lore and app information in the next updates.
But let's all have fun with this! PLEASE follow the cheatsheet and rules or it's an automatic NO from me.
